00:07and we actually kind of are cool with if you guys got work to do like yesterday
00:12we'll reschedule the interview uh was yesterday a particularly long day
00:18yeah we were uh we were uh burning the midnight oil yesterday catching up on um
00:24the saints game the bills game um getting getting things corrected which is obviously
00:31which is which is what you what you need with where we're at and um yeah that's kind of all
00:36our focus is really on ourselves and um man how can we how can we take that next step going
00:43into
00:44this week what what stood out to you like the difference between the first half and the second
00:48half of the saints game and then going into the the bills game what stands out is is stuff that
00:53absolutely has to be fixed what stands out i think uh you know there was the lack of execution for
01:02sure um you know there was uh you know we we do the stuff in practice and um when we're
01:10not doing
01:10it in the games it's just it's hard to uh it's hard to wrap your head around a little bit
01:16and
01:16definitely disappointing but um i'd say the bright side is a lot of it majority of it is is definitely
01:25things that are in our control which is um you know there there might be a time where a guy
01:33might
01:33have a one-on-one he'll lose that one-on-one and you're just kind of like that's just what
01:37you live
01:38with but when it's self-inflicted errors of of uh you know and those those those errors result in
01:48explosives you know i think that's that's where it hurts the most you know if they just line it up
01:52and
01:52they you know if if they were just better than us and they were you know winning their one-on
01:58-ones
01:58it was just like then you can kind of go okay well that we just you know we just weren't
02:04weren't
02:05better but no i felt like it was definitely more a manner of self-inflicted self-inflicted wounds for
02:11sure you might have already answered this but i guess you were so adamant after the game and
02:15meeting with the media that changes had to come do you feel like like are you satisfied in the
02:22changes that have been talked about that you guys are going to make this week yeah i think so i
02:28got a
02:29lot of faith in um and chef and dan and um you know the nfl is is um it's a
02:36week-to-week business
02:37man it's you're you could be praised one week and the next week people are asking for you to be
02:43fired
02:43and i understand the volatility that this business comes with um individually and as a defense and it's
02:50just um i know we stay in our bubble we we do what needs to be done we make you
02:56know slight changes
02:57here and there and um we'll be back for sure was there something up front that the bills were doing
03:03to have a dominant running game last week or is that just simply a product of hey we're facing james
03:08cook josh allen these are really good runners but you know was there something that they were doing
03:13in addition to that i don't think so i mean it wasn't um the run game was definitely it wasn't
03:21uh
03:21anything too crazy i think in 2024 when we played them when i was hurt it was um they had
03:29a lot of
03:30weird run game like tackle pulls quarterback um quarterback run game where it just it was tough
03:37on the gaps i think but you in this game it was it was definitely um that was just not
03:42us you know
03:43that was um it was it was the the run game that we talked about we were going to get
03:48and we just
03:49didn't do a good enough jobs as players and executing um executing that game plan a couple
03:55things that stood out and watching the tv copy one is hutch you you get caught on camera at times
04:01turning to the officials making the holding sign do you ever have interactions with officials during
04:06games that you think are productive like you're like okay they're going to pay more attention to it
04:10do they give you that kind of feedback or is it just frustrating oh yeah um no i uh i
04:18do you try to
04:18have some conversations is mine i think my biggest um gripe with the officials sometimes is uh
04:28just uh with the quarterbacks and stuff and their ability you know we're taught to kind of lay off
04:36the quarterback and not uh drive them into the ground but some quarterbacks are doing kind of some
04:41heroic things as they're falling to the ground so i always have a tough time like with that um with
04:49that concept so yeah the holding stuff that's that's always yeah nfl alignment are very good at
04:55disguising it and doing it um where it can't be seen but it's just definitely some other things that
05:01can be a little frustrating okay so let's take to the play where you had josh allen wrapped up you're
05:07taking him to the ground and he gets an incomplete pass off is that one of the examples where well
05:13i'm trying not to land on him and he but maybe he gets a pass off when he's all in
05:18the grass yeah
05:19you're not driving him to the ground as hard as you can because you don't want to get penalized was
05:22that an example of it or am i reading too much into it yeah that's that's that's that's exactly the
05:28example it's uh yeah to me it's it's that's tough as a defender because it's so ingrained in me
05:36really since i got in the league they kind of had this rule in and so i i'm never really
05:41you know
05:41i'll hit i might hit a quarterback hard but once we're falling you got to show the rest like your
05:46hands are off and you're not driving them into the ground and so yeah it's definitely um it's definitely
05:52and then you got quarterbacks who are freakishly strong and can as they're falling twisted and throw
05:59the ball and um yeah it definitely puts you in a precarious situation who talks the most
06:05as a quarterback to you
06:11i would say
06:15rogers talks a lot uh josh was actually pretty quiet this weekend um
06:22well i think rogers the most for sure rogers always has something to say which is it's always
06:27it's always a fun time going against him so i'll probably say is it the most satisfying then to
06:32sack a quarterback that opens his mouth a lot
06:37well see rogers will kind of talk to me after i sack him it's typically how it goes so it's
06:43usually
06:43uh usually he'll tell me how i somehow got a layup or you're welcome for that sack or something like
06:49that so he's always uh he's always just trying to minimize my uh my play that i just made in
06:56some
06:56way uh so aiden as you know we talk to fans all the time and and some fans were rattled
07:03by the
07:03buffalo game love their team but they're worried that maybe this is indicative of a team that's not
07:08going to reach their goals what do you have to say to the fans that that game rattled them
07:12and and that are worried now about the direction of the season even though it's early
07:17oh yeah i mean you know it's like i said the nfl is it's such a week-to-week basis
07:24you know i mean
07:25i remember in 2023 we went to the ravens and we got absolutely smoked like it wasn't even
07:35defensively we were horrible i think the offense scored six points it was um one of the worst
07:41performances we've ever we've ever had and i'm sure after that game people were saying that the
07:46ravens were super bowl contenders and the lions or whatever um and that same year we went to the
07:53nsc championship and we're up 17 at half you know but uh to me i think it's um it's not
08:02getting too
08:02caught up in the week-to-week it's like look that was a poor outing for our defense like no
08:07kidding
08:07everybody knows that and um uh all i think is that if we um if we learn from it we
08:14grow from it and um
08:16because i think i think with this unit with this team we can do it um we just uh we
08:23just got to
08:23make the improvements and make the changes i think that's what we've done and i got a lot of faith
08:27in
08:27this uh in the guys and the coaches and so um full steam ahead that's what i said dan campbell
08:35talked
08:35about the need to get the trust level back with you guys on defense he said when it looks like
08:39that
08:40we're responsible as coaches i'm responsible it's up to us to make sure that the guys can be trusted
08:45to do what they do and then they have to do it we got to get the trust level back
08:49what do you make
08:50of that statement um are you talking about trust level with can you can you say i don't really
08:57dan campbell was talking about the trust level with the players and also with the coaching staff
09:02and everybody's got to get that level back yeah i mean it's definitely you get one of those games
09:09and it's very frustrating players and coaches together you're everyone's just like what the hell are we
09:13doing you know it's um when you let up that many points that many yards it's definitely of course
09:20that might be that trust might be blunted a little bit but to me it's uh i don't i don't
09:26get too
09:27i stay pretty level you know even a great win or a or a tough loss like that to me
09:34it's it's all about
09:35just staying even keeled and knowing that look it's week two and um we're one-on-one and we're
09:44like most teams in the NFL right now who are one-on-one and we still have an incredible opportunity
09:49to
09:49forge our our future um for this season so um yeah with me i'm just uh i'm staying level and
09:57um
09:58we're moving on so that's kind of how i see it and uh yeah we got to definitely put it
10:03on tape
10:03as players to show that uh man we uh we have a great understanding of this defense and we have
10:10a
10:10great understanding of the execution so it'll be a big week to do that we'd be remiss if we didn't
10:15ask you about aaron glenn on the other sideline this week what can you tell us about aaron what was
10:20your relationship like yeah me and ag definitely through the years our relationship grew a lot and
10:29so i got a lot of respect for him a ton um definitely still trying to kick his ass
10:36but uh but that that that to me would be showing respect to ag right there you know because i
10:42know
10:42he's a great coach and he's going to have his guys ready so we gotta um we gotta also be
10:47ready
