00:06We'll talk about what to expect in this lopsided spread game that we have coming up here with
00:12the Miami Hurricanes, who are dealing with something they haven't dealt with for a while.
00:16You know, they were amazingly healthy last year.
00:20Amazingly healthy.
00:22Even guys that got nicked up came right back and played.
00:25Oh, I do know that.
00:26And that's the big part of making a run to the championship game, right?
00:30See it in the NFL, college football.
00:32That's the luck part of it almost, right?
00:35Well, you're playing Wake Forest.
00:36You don't expect to have that many guys.
00:38You know, you lose one of your top running backs.
00:41You lose one of your top wide receivers.
00:44By the way, a freak play, the Marty Brown thing.
00:46Yeah.
00:47Looks like he's going into the end zone.
00:48The guy lunges at him at the last second.
00:52Yeah.
00:53Right?

00:54And he's waving people.

00:55I didn't even see the Josh Moore thing.

00:59Happened at the end of the game in a pile.

01:02But I got to tell you, that's a huge, huge loss.
01:06So, as you know by the stats you've seen, it's been Malachi and kind of everybody else.
01:11Everybody else's numbers are down.
01:13And I'm curious about Malachi.
01:16I know he's going to want to play.
01:17I hope he's 100% healthy.
01:20I guess if he plays, he's fine.
01:22But we got to get, as you get into this, and somebody is going to make it a point to
01:30take him, or you're not going to take him completely out of the game, but you're going to take a
01:36lot of routes away from him.
01:37You're just like, he can't beat us on this route.
01:39We cannot let him beat us on this.
01:41We're going to pinch him inside and outside.
01:44We'll double him.
01:45Don't worry about over the top.
01:47You got a guy there to help you.
01:50And they've got to get some more receivers involved in this offense.
01:56And, again, not taking anything away from Malachi.
01:59He's on his way to having just an unbelievable season.
02:03First team All-American stuff.
02:05And he's got another year of eligibility.
02:07He's got another year.
02:08He has to come back.
02:09This is only his second year in college.
02:12But we got to get some more guys going, man.
02:14And we got to find some more cover guys.
02:17We're a little short on cover guys, in my opinion.
02:20Watching some guys get chewed up pretty good in the passing game.
02:24And so you try to get the big rush and play a little zone behind it.
02:27That didn't go well on one touchdown.
02:31Two guys got too wide on that.
02:33A little mental mistake there.
02:35And you got to find some more running backs.
02:38You've got to find some running backs that you trust and get some more guys going.

02:46Maybe it's Mallory.
02:47Maybe it's the true freshman.
02:48Maybe he's the guy.
02:50So there are some things.
02:52And are they happy a guard with the guys?
02:55Or do we find out somebody else is going to start a guard?

03:02And find out if one of those guys hasn't shown them enough.
03:06Now, they're not just going to throw a guy in by name, as we have now learned.
03:10Listen, Campbell Jackson was one of the top guys in his class.
03:14The whole class in the country.
03:16Everybody was trying to get him.
03:18And he's not starting.
03:20And I thought he was going to somewhat get penciled in.
03:23And they didn't think he was ready.
03:25Or he'd be playing right now a guard or tackle.
03:28He would be starting if they thought he was ready to go.
03:32And you know they're paying him good NIL money.
03:35You know that was not cheap.
03:38That's the new thing now.
03:39You got to talk about that.
03:41And how long you want to pay a guy a lot of money.
03:43It's like everything else.
03:45It's crazy, though, to talk about a guard.
03:46No, it is.
03:46But think about this.
03:48We're not getting our money's worth.
03:49Your highest-paid NFL guys, the guys, you're counting on to be your best players.
03:55We talk about all the time money in pro sports, yes.
03:57And behind the scenes, I'm guessing all these schools that spend money in the NIL,
04:04which is most of the big schools, they're going,
04:06Hey, you really wanted this guy, and he's not playing.
04:10I'm sure, especially in the whole line, it's not great.
04:15It may be more of a crapshoot getting guys out of high school, though,
04:19than it is getting guys from college to the NFL.
04:21I just think it's a big jump.
04:23It's a huge jump.
04:24And how many five stars have we seen over the years that just don't make it?
04:28Like, just can't play it the other way.
04:30I love to ask every guy out there driving around that's,
04:32and we got all kinds of guys that got scholarships and went to college.
04:37I think it's a bigger jump from high school to college
04:41than it is from college to the pros.
04:45And by the way, they're both difficult, the pro thing.
04:48But I think the jump from going from a high school,
04:52now I think it's helped if you go to a high school that plays against good competition.
04:56I never played against, when I played at my high school,
04:59I didn't go against Central one week and Northwestern
05:02and play Columbus and Chaminade and American Heritage and St. Tom.
05:06I didn't have that schedule.
05:07Wouldn't you just be shell-shocked by the atmosphere alone at these games?
05:11To go from a high school game, we have a few thousand people
05:13playing in a stadium like we saw on Saturday with that atmosphere?
05:19And there's a lot of pressure.
05:21These games, the fans are very intense.
05:23There's a lot of pressure to win.
05:25You're getting paid.
05:26Yeah, but I don't think the guys care about the fan stuff.
05:31They want to come in and they want to play right away.
05:33I think spring football has helped.
05:36Helped some.
05:37But you get into games, I mean,
05:41they're not playing a lot of freshmen on this team right now.
05:44Basically playing Mallory a little bit.
05:47He's in the rotation.
05:50And you're playing...
05:51Malachi would be a good person to ask about this, by the way.

05:54Malachi would be a good person to ask going from high school
05:56and talk about the guy playing in the biggest games possible.
05:59You and I were there for his first spring practice.
06:01And he was catching the ball all over the middle of the field.
06:06And it caught my eye because at that point,
06:09they had upgraded the talent on the team.
06:11And he and Moore, remember Moore, was running by everybody
06:15and jumping over the top of everybody.
06:18And I'm like, hey, coach, these two guys,
06:23they go, yeah, we got to play them.
06:25Yeah, we're going to have to play them.
06:26But calm down a little bit.
06:27Let's wait and see.
06:29Well, the one guy hasn't slowed down.
06:30So, I mean, there are...
06:33We've had on occasion guys that do step in.
06:35I talk about Jeremiah.
06:37Listen, Jeremiah Smith jumped in day one.
06:39He was the best receiver at Ohio State.
06:40And the guys on the other side were all first-round picks.
06:45So, that's a little different situation.
06:48But I think that's a big jump for most guys.
06:51And every year, University of Miami seems to have one, two, or three guys
06:57kind of come in early and play and are really good.
07:01The jump wasn't too much for them.
07:04And I don't know.
07:05You know, some guys developmentally and physically that can handle it.
07:10But we got a lot of...
07:11I thought this recruiting class was really good.
07:13This one they have, this true freshman class of guys they have.
07:17And so far, unless I'm missing somebody,
07:19it's been a lot about Dunnigan, who's starting to play,
07:23who looks like he's going to be a really good player.
07:26And Mallory had the big first down at the end of the game, right?
07:30Kind of really desperately needed that at the end
07:33and was able to get it.
07:36And it's looked good.
