01:45The injuries piled up.
01:46But I wanted to give a couple of highlights, too, that I think with the injuries,
01:51Jordan Watkins looked really good in the past as he was thrown his way.
01:55He got some yak afterwards.
01:59Defense was kind of all over the place.
02:01But I'm hoping a lot of the injuries today were mostly because of the heat and cramping.
02:06I mean, I think Evans will be out for a bit, but I don't think he's going to be out
02:10long term.
02:11But the last take I wanted to give after what I saw, I mean, yes, the Bills won today.

02:16I mean, but the way Josh Allen was turning over the ball, Brock Purdy is the MVP of the NFL
02:22right now.
02:23Like he another masterful class game for touchdowns, no turnovers.
02:28They are also three, you know, just like the Bills.
02:31But if you're going to compare the two quarterbacks after today's play, Purdy is the MVP of the league.

03:22I think he could have put that thing farther out there for Cowling.
03:24I also think that he was hit on the play because the ball wobbled.
03:28Purdy usually doesn't throw a wobbly, like a very wobbly ball.
03:31He has a very nice tight spiral.
03:33So I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on that one.
03:35I mean, I am very nitpicky when it comes to quarterbacks, Sterling.
03:39So you're going to find this out.
03:41I'm going to pick apart every pass that they make, typically.
03:44So another great game.
03:45I know you're one of those, you said three touchdowns.

03:49It wasn't good enough today.

03:54When you put up 30, there's not much you can say, right?

03:59He had four touchdowns today.

04:02He was their entire offense.
04:03No, and I'm not the type to say, well, that was the Cardinals.
04:07No, I mean, it's the NFL.
04:09And we saw today that anyone can lose on any given Sunday.
04:13You know, they get the huge break, obviously, that we brought up in Washington.
04:16So, listen, I'm not going to say they're lucky to walk away from this one.
04:21But, you know, they had to dig this out at the end.
04:24This was not a walkaway game that we kind of thought it would be maybe at 14-0.
04:29Well, think about it this way.
04:31If there was a team that was 2-0 entering this week that was, I don't want to say earmarked,
04:39or you thought, logically, they have a good chance to lose amongst the bunch,
04:45it wouldn't have been the Seattle Seahawks.
04:47It would have been the San Francisco 49ers.
04:50Yeah, I gave zero chance to Seattle to lose that game today.
04:53And I am still completely shocked they lost that game, Sterling.
04:58Frankly, too, we saw something from them that we have not seen yet,
05:01which was Sam Darnold went back to looking like the Sam Darnold of old today.
05:05And I think that is a very promising sign for 49ers fans to me.

05:10Bring it on, baby.

05:15Look, I think you're right.
05:16Obviously, we'll give Sam some time to come back off the injury.
05:19I'm sure he'll bounce back in the next few weeks, but they have a first-place schedule.
05:24Like, their schedule is not easy for them.
05:26Wins and losses like this matter.
05:28But I think San Francisco, you know, like, look, they lose Nick Bosa three days before this game takes place.
05:37We're all up in arms, like, what's going on?
05:39Me and you talked about this after the game last week of, like, they've avoided the big one.
05:43Okay, well, they just had the big one on Thursday.
05:46Bosa goes down.
05:47He may miss a month.
05:48No one really knows exactly his return timeline.
05:51Then they're up, you know, by 14 in this one.
05:54And then Evans goes down.
05:55And everything starts to unravel, right?
05:59They start off hot.
06:00About the second quarter, maybe, you know, all the way through the early fourth quarter, it is all Cardinals.
06:05This game is all Cardinals.
06:07They're keeping things alive.
06:08Even if San Francisco's defense is playing bend-down break, this Niners offense had no momentum for about, you know,
06:15two and a half quarters today, right?
06:17And we all kind of felt like we'd been here before.
06:20This game feels all too familiar, where it's like, we should win, we're supposed to win, but it's getting away
06:26from us.
06:27Special teams was atrocious today.
06:30Two missed PATs and a muff punt, where the guy's rolling on the ground, like he's frolicking in the daisies
06:36of, like, what's going on, brother?
06:37Hits his foot.
06:38What are you, Durrell Luter Jr., Kaya Williams?
06:40Come on, man.
06:41And it's just like, it's like everything's going wrong.
06:45All that to say, the guys that you need to step up do.
06:49I thought Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw were otherworldly today.
06:53Fred's taking out their guys, hitting his own guys, hurting his own guys, see why he's at it, right?
06:57Dre Greenlaw was tremendous today.
06:59And then, of course, Brock, CMC, and Kittle.
07:02The three guys, that three-headed trio you have to have on your offense if you want to win, I
07:07thought were phenomenal.
07:08Christian McCaffrey averaged five yards per carry today.
07:11When's the last time CMC averaged five yards a carry?
07:15He was a dog, especially in that fourth quarter.
07:18He was tremendous.
07:19Absolutely, Sterling.
07:20I'm completely with you.
07:21And I think we got the epitome of Fred Warner today after that muffed punt, where Neal, it hits his
07:28leg.
07:28Something that is just so deflating to a defense, typically, right?
07:32Where you did your job.
07:34You got off the field.
07:35And then they immediately give the ball back, basically.
07:39And they storm out there.
07:41And Fred Warner is dancing on the field.
07:44And, like, he's excited to be back on the field.
07:47I mean, the guy is just, we cannot praise him enough on this show.
07:52We really cannot.
07:53Words cannot describe how great that guy is for just a variety of reasons.
07:57Whether it's culture, whether it's just, I mean, the play on the field.
08:01It's like, you can't ask for more.
08:03So, you know, I do want to get into this, Sterling.
08:06Like, you scored 36.
08:09But remember who you're playing.
08:10You're playing the Arizona Cardinals.
08:12I get it's a divisional game, right?
08:14There has to be some concern that you have that you let up 30 points the Arizona Cardinals day, right?
08:22I think context matters.
08:24Like, to your point, like you just said.
08:26Like, you got off the field a handful of times.
08:28And a couple of things.
08:30The Lenore DPI, which really wasn't on him.
08:33The muffed punt.
08:34That kind of lucky bounce to hit Neil on the ground.
08:37Jacob Cowling probably should be yelling, Peter, Peter, Peter.
08:39Get out of the way.
08:40On stuff like that.
08:41And he probably wasn't.
08:42But who knows.
08:43But those two plays alone give the Cardinals 14 points.
08:45Or at least 10 points.
08:47Then it's 20 to 36.
08:49And we're all like, wow, 16-point victory.
08:50Ha, ha, ha.
08:51Like, then it's all different, right?
08:53I think Brant Boyer will be irate in meetings tomorrow, as he should.
08:59But I think we also got some promising things.
09:02Where you can say, you gave up 30 to the Cardinals.
09:05I could say, yeah, but your pass rush actually wasn't that bad.
09:09Keanu White was phenomenal today.
09:11Had a big sack in this game.
09:13A couple of big plays he blew up earlier in the one.
09:15I thought, although San Francisco's defensive line got tired late in the game, it was pretty
09:20obvious they were getting tired.
09:21They battled all day.
09:23They had Sebastian Valadez playing edge rusher.
09:25He don't do that.
09:26That's a big boy playing edge out there, brother.
09:29But Halton was batting some passes down.
09:31Osa Digazula batted one down two.
09:33Narrowly missed a sack on Brissette in this one.
09:35And they were double-teaming him all day.
09:38Like, I know it's kind of, it's 30 against the Cardinals and this and that.
09:41I totally understand it.
09:43I think context would make it not seem as bad as it was.
09:46Because games like this do happen.
09:48Like, where everything goes wrong.
09:50Murphy's Law, it's just, can you escape?
09:52They did.
09:53But I'm sure Monday morning's not going to be a fun day for all three sides of the football.
09:57And rightfully so.
09:58No, I'm absolutely with you.
09:59I think, for me, the first two games were such daisies and roses.
10:04It just felt like there was no wrong almost in the first two games.
10:08I mean, could you ask for a better performance against the guys who literally people crown,
10:14were already crowning the Super Bowl champions in week one.
10:16I mean, you come out and roll them.
10:19Then week two, you do exactly what you're supposed to do against an awful team and dismantle them.
10:24I mean, so much so that Brock Purdy comes out of the game toward the end of the game.
10:28This week, it did feel like they hit some turmoil, right?
10:33When that second quarter, late in that second quarter hit, they hit a lull.
10:38And I think that was a little scary, right?
10:41Because, once again, this isn't a world beater, but it is a divisional opponent,
10:44so you've got to respect them.
10:46How do the 49ers avoid that going forward, Sterling?
10:51Getting healthy would be a very big part of that.
10:54But, which, look, me and Cam were talking off air during the commercial break of, like,
11:00what does San Francisco have to do?
11:01And the answer is kind of, we don't exactly know, right?
11:05Like, the injuries are an every-year thing.
11:07The Nick Bosa stuff is just a perennial problem.
11:11The Niners have almost 20 players on IR as of today,
11:14which is just absurd being less than a quarter of the way through your season.
11:19But health is obviously wealth in the NFL, right?
11:22You're healthy.
11:23Last year, Seahawks had almost no injuries until the playoffs.
11:26They won the Super Bowl for a reason, right?
11:27The Patriots last year, too, as well.
11:29But I think we should walk away with this game, at least on defense,
11:34feeling like the scheme was a major part of the victory.
11:39Like, I almost walk out of this game more confident in Raheem Morris
11:42as a defensive play caller.
11:44Like, he battled so much today.
11:46Like, at least the offense still had Brock Purdy,
11:50Christian McCaffrey, and George Kittle.
11:51Raheem is like, I got Fred and Dre,
11:53and I have, like, almost no pass rush, right?
11:55And almost no run defense.
11:56What do I do?
11:57The way he was bringing in blitzes,
11:59the way he was kind of bringing in Fred
12:01and dropping him back into coverage,
12:03I just think that a couple of breaks go your way.
12:07A couple of the bigger Cardinals plays are off the books,
12:09and this game is different.
12:11But I really like what I see from Raheem Morris so far.
12:14So to avoid a game like this in the future,
12:17I don't know if you can unless you're fully healthy,
12:19but I do walk away more confident in the Niners coaching stat after this one today.
12:24I agree with you, Sterling.
12:25I also think Raheem Morris has no fear in sending five.
12:29I mean, he will just do it play after play after play.
12:32And I think we didn't see that at all with Sala.
12:35I mean, he's so seldomly sent five,
12:38and it was like, we better get this pressure from four and figure it out.
12:42And they didn't a lot of the time.
12:44I mean, the numbers show for themselves.
12:46And I think this fearlessness that Raheem Morris has presented as the D.C. is great,
12:51especially when you're sustaining injuries.
12:53You have to get pressure on the quarterback in this league.
12:55You will not be good if you're not getting pressure on the quarterback.
12:58The Niners were able to overcome it last year with a fantastic offense, let's be honest.
13:02And at the end of the day, they get through the Eagles, right?
13:08Shocking game, but it caught up with them the week after.
13:11Let's call it what it is.
13:13And I think against a team like that, especially,
13:16where Jacoby Brissett, not a world beater by any means,
13:20he's a guy, though, where if you're not getting any pressure on him,
13:23he will pick you apart.
13:24I mean, and there's not many quarterbacks in this league that won't, frankly,
13:27if you're not getting pressure on them.
13:29Yeah.
13:30And, look, I think the way I would kind of differentiate Sala and Raheem Morris is,
13:37at least last year, Sala, I'm not including 2018, 2019.
13:39It's unfair to include that in this because of the injuries they had.
13:43But Robert Sala, last year, his defense played bend-don't-break because they had to.
13:48Raheem Morris almost invites bend-don't-break knowing he gets another chance
13:53to go for the kill shot of an offense, right?
13:56To go for a blitzing sack, to kind of pick a ball off.
13:58Like, he's almost kind of toying with the other offense of, like,
14:02yeah, yeah, we'll go ahead and give you a third and two, but we'll get you next time.
14:05I have no problem giving you a new set of downs because I get another chance
14:08to do something big with my defense.
14:10And that's a luxury to have, obviously.
14:12And I think Fred and Dre do so much of that work for him on the middle of this defense.
14:17But I also think the confidence he has in his secondary.
14:21I know Green wasn't great today, had a concussion, came back out there,
14:24same with Lenore, but, like, the confidence he has in those two cornerbacks
14:28to be out there every single play and lock down the opposing receivers.
14:32Or even, you know, Fred and McBride today.
14:35Like, McBride came on late.
14:36He had nine receptions for 75 yards, Wilson 11 for 89.
14:39Like, that isn't ideal.
14:41But it's because Brissette dropped back 52 times today.
14:45Crazy.
14:45Like, they have no problem giving the opposing team these long, grueling 12-play drives
14:51if they're not giving up touchdowns and if they can get the football back.
14:55Today didn't warrant that for them, but they'll gladly sign up for 12-play drives
15:00and three points to end them if it gives them more chances to get turnovers
15:04and takeaways in the future.
15:05I think, also, you feel far more confident about that bend-don't-break
15:09when you have Dre Greenlaw and Fred Warner out there.
15:12Last year, they didn't, and we can say it was bend-don't-break,
15:16but at the end of the day, it did break when Seahawks dropped 41 on them
15:20or whatever in that last game.
15:22Let's go back to the phones.

15:27You know, Sterling, I'm starting to catch what you got, my friend.
15:32I'm starting to get that pretty fever.
15:36My problem with Brock was when I first saw him against that Miami game
15:39when he was a rookie,
15:40the first thing I thought about was number 16.
15:43That's what I set in the bar for Brock, and he hasn't come to that yet,
15:47but you know what?
15:48Watching that scamper, I'm going to lower that bar a little bit
15:51from 16 to number 8.
15:54The only thing I didn't see in that scamper was a bunch of Minnesota players
15:58falling on the ground or some Rams players falling on the ground.
16:01But Brock has some wheels, and Shanahan has to let him run with those wheels, man.
16:07He's got something that we ain't seen since, like I said, Jeff Garcia days,
16:13Steve Young days.
16:14So, Kyle, please, take a look at some of those plays because Brock can do it.
16:19The one thing I love about the game today was that I was always worried going
16:23into the season how that injury would affect number 85.
16:2885, I got to do what his workouts are because he doesn't look like he even got hurt last season.
16:33He just took the year off.
16:37You know, two touchdowns and what?
16:39Six catches for what?
16:4180 yards?
16:42He's back.
16:43He's back and it's it.
16:46You know, the only thing that's going to stop this Niner team, honestly, guys,
16:51are the Niners.

16:53I'm going to book on that.
16:55The only thing that's going to stop us is ourselves,
16:58whether it be by technical mistakes or by unfortunate injuries.
17:03But I don't think any team can run with this offense.
17:07And with Raheem Morris at the helm, we haven't seen a D.C. like this since,
17:13I don't know when.
17:15George Seifert, because honestly, Salah, we thank you for everything.
17:20But you, Morris has a little bit of a panache that you don't got.
17:25And I don't even want to bring up Wilkes or Nick, whatever his last name was.
17:30What about Tamika?
17:31But you know what, Niner fans?
17:33Yes, it was the Cardinals.
17:35Yes, it was the Dolphins.
17:36But you know what?
17:36At the end of the day, those 53 guys get paid to win too.
17:40And we took care of business.
17:42We handled business at home.
17:43The only thing I got to say is we got to clean up the special teams a little bit.
17:48And the only knock, the only knock I have about Brock Purdy Sterling today
17:53is that that throw that he did to that guy catching the paper towels was a little bit wobbly.
17:59But outside of that, everything else was good.

18:27I think it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life.

18:30I'm horrible at sugarcoating things, as you know.
18:33It's like a Cleveland Cavaliers fan being like, well, he's not LeBron.
18:38So, you know, I guess we're screwed.
18:41And I just think it's the dumbest thing of all time.
18:43The chances of you getting another Joe Montana within your lifetime are slim to none, people.

18:52It's like asking me to get another Steph Curry.

19:25He's not elite.

19:27And he might get to elite this year.

19:31Yeah, I think, you know, we talked about this last Sunday when Trent Williams said Brock
19:36Purdy's entering his prime, right, and how that kind of, you know, coalesces with this
19:41year for San Francisco.
19:43But it comes with the territory.
19:45You play quarterback in the red and gold.
19:48You're going to be compared to the greats, right?
19:50This isn't like the Montana Steve Young era in San Francisco, although it was now 30 plus
19:57years ago, 40 plus years ago, it's not some bygone era.
20:01That entire fan base is still around.
20:03It's still season ticket holders listening right now to the very station or watching
20:07live on YouTube.
20:08Absolutely.
20:09And they don't forget.
20:11My father saw all those rings and he'll be like, oh man, it was a glory days.
20:15Can never get back there.
20:16And us being younger Niner fans, you're like, all we know is pain.
20:21It is heartbreak and pain.
20:23But every quarterback since them have been compared to the goats of the franchise, right?
20:28But it's funny because no receiver is ever compared to, man, he's not Jerry though.
20:34He's not Jerry.
20:36Like, yeah, because he's never going to be Jerry.
20:38No one ever has ever been Jerry, will ever be Jerry ever again.
20:43But I think that Brock is creating his own path of greatness and he's been phenomenal so
20:48far this year.
20:50You know, he'll be compared to Tom Brady because of the draft status of being late in the draft
20:54and, you know, the, you know, the last pick in the draft and people on Twitter now are
21:00like, is Purdy rocking 13 or 12?
21:02I can't really tell right now he's been so good.
21:04Um, but I think the one thing all Niner fans should have confidence in is that Purdy has
21:09been darn near perfect all year and you've won the games you're supposed to.
21:12And every year besides 2024, he's gotten better.
21:16And the ascension you've seen from him should make you really excited to Manny's point.
21:21Uh, the only people in San Francisco's way right now are going to be the San Francisco
21:2649ers and maybe the injury stuff is included in that, but those are the only two things
21:31that seem like they can derail what's happening right now.
21:34I mean, let's call it what it is with, with Purdy to me, he is, I would make the argument
21:40he's the most accurate quarterback in football.
21:43Ooh, I really would.
21:45I think that when you watch him throw, he hits people exactly where they need to be hit.
21:51And it's not, oh, this was a couple inches behind, or this is a couple inches in front.
21:56It's right in the bread basket and it's a perfect pass.
21:59We saw it again today with the Mike Evans throw over the shoulder.
22:01I mean, that was as big a dot as you're going to see.
22:04A lot of these crossing, these deep crossing routes that he hits over the middle, which
22:08is kind of his sweet spot.
22:09We've come to learn.
22:10He is hitting the receiver legitimately exactly where they need to be hit.
22:16They don't have to slow up for the ball.
22:17They don't have to speed up to get it.
22:19It's going exactly where he needs to go.
22:21And because of that, they're not getting killed over the middle because they can kind of keep
22:24their eyes up more than they would need to.
22:26Typically, if, if the ball was not in the right spot on top of that, it helps with the
22:31yard after catch.
22:32Very obviously, if you're putting it right where it needs to go, you're not focused on
22:35staying balanced.
22:36You're already balanced and you're moving and you're just going.
22:39So I think he's the most accurate quarterback in the NFL.
22:42I really do.
22:43I don't even think that's that hot, frankly.
22:47What I saw from Brock Purdy today, and maybe I'm the only person that felt this, that ball
22:52seemed like he was coming out a little more hot when this game first started.
22:56Like Brock's throws seemed like they were more in line, seemed like they were coming
23:00out harder.
23:00I'm not saying Colin Kaepernick, 97 mile an hour fastball hop, but I'm talking about
23:04just like the precision, the spiral tightness, when they're getting there, how fast they're
23:09getting there.
23:09Because there were times where earlier on in his career, there was some floaters that
23:13were getting in to receivers, not late, but just balls that couldn't be zipped in.
23:17Brock Purdy, to me, is zipping balls in, ripping those things in line to receivers and tight
23:22ends over the middle without fear.
23:25And it goes back to that confidence.
23:26Brock's always had that.
23:27He's been there at practice.
23:28I've been there in practice.
23:29He's got it in practice.
23:30He has it in games.
23:31Purdy is maybe one of the most confident quarterbacks in football, alongside being one of the more accurate
23:38quarterbacks in football, and right now is maybe the hottest quarterback in football right
23:43now.
