Learn how to crochet a puff stitch flower with six petals and turn a simple yarn circle into a colorful, fun embellishment for your next project. This step-by-step crochet tutorial walks through the basic setup with a 3.75 mm hook, medium weight yarn, a magic ring, and the petal construction that gives the flower its soft, textured look.

The flower begins with 12 single crochets in a magic ring, then switches yarn color to form the petals with puff stitches and chain spaces. After the first petal is complete, the same process is repeated until all six petals are finished, making it an easy and satisfying floral motif for crochet and craft projects. It also connects to the free Loving You Flower Pot pattern featured by Sweet Softies.

Created for crocheters looking for a puff stitch flower tutorial, crochet flower pattern, and beginner-friendly step-by-step guide, this video is ideal for anyone searching for floral crochet motifs, handmade embellishments, and creative yarn projects. It’s a useful reference for crochet inspiration, pattern learning, and decorative amigurumi-style crafting.

00:00This video tutorial will show you how to crochet a puff stitch flower. This design
00:07is a puff stitch flower with six petals. It's a very fun and colorful addition to
00:13any crochet or craft project. I even have a free crochet pattern, the Loving You
00:23Flower Pot, that features the puff stitch flower. You can find it on my website or
00:29in the description box below for the direct link to this free pattern. So
00:36without further ado, let's begin. What you're going to need for this project is
00:43a 3.75 millimeter crochet hook. You're also going to need medium weight yarn.
00:56Using the pollen color, I used yellow, start off with 12 single crochets in a
01:02magic ring. Make the magic ring loop and you will be inserting 12 single crochets
01:10inside of that loop.
01:34Once you've made sure that you have 12 single crochets inside of the magic ring, go ahead
01:40and pull the ring tightly.
01:52Next, you're going to insert your hook into the first single crochet to begin the
01:58join. Don't pull through the yarn just yet.
02:09You're going to switch off and grab a different color yarn for the flower petals. I use pink
02:15yarn. So pull through the pink yarn to join. Finish the join with a slip stitch. To start
02:27the first petal, you're going to chain 3.
02:35Yarn over, insert your hook into the same stitch. Yarn over, and pull it all up into a tall loop.
02:47Yarn over, insert your hook into the same stitch. Yarn over, pull up to a
02:53tall loop. Yarn over, insert the hook into the same stitch, yarn over, and pull up
03:03into a tall loop. Now you're going to move to the next stitch. Yarn over, insert
03:13your hook into that next stitch, yarn over, and pull up a tall loop. You're
03:19going to do this for a total of three times. So, second time, yarn over, insert
03:26your hook into the stitch, yarn over, pull up into a tall loop, and third time, yarn
03:33over, insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over, pull up into a tall loop.
03:49So, at this point, you're going to yarn over, pull through all loops on the hook, then chain
03:58three, and slip stitch into the next stitch. Once you've done that, you've finished with
04:10making the first petal. So now, repeat the petal instructions five more times for a total
04:20of six petals.
04:48I'll see you next time.
05:18I'll see you next time.
05:23Thank you so much for watching.
05:25I hope that making these little flowers will brighten up your day.
05:28Until next time.
