00:22the national u.s national committee is one of the oldest in 1921 french and u.s electric engineers
00:30started to share and this is like the origin of the cigarette so that is to say the importance of
00:38your
00:38committee uh within the cigarette how would you qualify the importance of cigarette in the united
00:46states nowadays so today the um right now europe is leading the world in climate change and what's
00:54going on in climate change and america's quickly trying to catch up and they look at the european
01:00experience and what we can learn from it from a power engineering point of view and the biggest
01:04thing is the wind development that you have offshore there are only six wind generators in all of america
01:11offshore and you have hundreds of them in europe so we're looking very closely at what lessons learned
01:17because there's going to be a huge expansion in the east coast of america yeah of course uh paris
01:25session is a great way to to re-meet everyone and and i think you were looking forward to um
01:32but it
01:33also a way to listen and share um experiences around the world and to take back that
01:41into united states right absolutely there are things that are happening at this particular
01:47session in in paris that you cannot get anywhere else in the world there is no other place for
01:54example the large outages that are there's a session here where the people have had large power outages

05:06assure that we met very enthusiastic young people who immediately started to join the organization and
05:16today i can we are more more than 13 students who are joined our organization what are the next step
05:26maybe the new projects uh within the big house of segrey the next project in medium in uh let's say

06:49my name is danny klar and i'm the dutch c grade study committee c2 member ngn helped me organizing common
06:57meetings for study committee c1 c2 c5 and c6 ngn is an important platform for young professionals
07:06providing them a global network capabilities of expanding their skills and knowledge and meeting
07:15peers and other leading experts i got involved with the ngn network in 2020 and soon after that i was
07:26invited to present in the ngn paper competition that experience was amazing and even with that i was
07:32able to talk to multiple ngn folks which motivated me to join the ngn committee and right now i am
07:39collaborating the international section of us ngn team and also i learned a lot about the various working
07:46groups and helped me act as the secretary for one of the working groups ngn has helped me to grow
07:53tremendously both technically and professionally hello my name is robert jan de bes and i'm the secretary of
08:02sigraine netherlands while working with the next generation network i meet many highly motivated and bright
08:11young people with creative smart and sometimes also disruptive ideas building the future grid in also
08:21challenging times requests for new approaches and it is that where i think the next generation network
08:29can have its impact young people with creative new ids a new generation setting course to a bright new energy
08:42future so i became involved with the ngn while still being an undergraduate co-op student in this industry
08:49being a part of this organization has given me the opportunity to create the first canada ngn
08:55newsletter and i'm very grateful for the network and the strong foundation that this organization provides to its members
09:19i meet the company of mr alagos from the turkish national committee and sir chairman hi hi welcome thank you

09:39committee of turkey turkish sigre national committee what are the main activities of your committee okay as
09:48everywhere in the world all national committees are trying to connect electrical engineers together and what we
09:56are doing in turkey is same and especially for the next generation we are trying to uh get in touch
10:05with the
10:05young engineers and candidates of engineers so we are preparing some colloquiums some seminars panels
10:13and uh some uh documentation and the uh serial published uh articles yeah to fit the society
10:22you have recently been nominated as a search chairman congratulations thank you can you tell us a little bit
10:30more about that okay you know in sigre there are four regional uh group and serc is one of them
10:38it is
10:40southeast european area and at the moment we have 17 countries in the organization and
10:50uh three more candidates uh countries uh to join to sigre national committee so we are uh dealing with
11:01these 20 countries and especially we support each country each other and we are trying to
11:11use the advantage of being a neighborhood so we come together very frequently they have more
11:20relationship but all other countries we are coming together to share our experiences and to increase the
11:30knowledge of the engineers in our sector in our area that's the essence of of sigre paris station this
11:38year take the lead on energy transition could you give us more uh details about how the turkish national
11:45committee is dealing with this important uh problematic of climate change okay you know world is living an
11:55interesting era at the moment so every year or every month we are facing another crisis in the world and
12:03we
12:03have to as engineers we have to find solutions to the world so in our national committee we analyze all
12:13conditions of the world including the climate change and also supply security is one of the big issue of the
12:21world turkey especially and uh we have both uh earth uh on europe and asia and europe and asia are
12:32the lands who has the history of the world we want to emphasize that we are bridge of the cultures
12:41and the
12:41bridge of the countries so we believe we have a lot of to do for the climate changes also so

13:21bose
13:21what does this medal represents for you well this is the highest award that c gray makes so it's a
13:29big honor for me um and it is given for both technical contributions as well as contributions of service to
13:40to c gray community so i i i think that even says more than just uh one or the other
13:50so i'm very very
13:51honored to to receive it where is it uh it's uh it's uh on my desk back at home since
13:59i got it
13:59by mail in 2021 mr bevan what does c gray represents for you and maybe you could share with us
14:08like a
14:09memorable moment to illustrate the importance of c gray for you uh thank you yes i've been involved
14:15with c gray for over 20 years uh firstly within australia um as deputy chairman and then chairman of the
14:23australian national committee and then in the early 2000s i became involved in the steering committee
14:29representing australia and then on the executive as international treasurer for four years from 2012.
14:37so it is really important for you to uh maintain this relationship with c gray and and and what is
14:44the importance of this medal for you yes certainly and uh uh my involvement with c gray has always been
14:51administrative uh even though i'm a power engineer by profession uh my involvement has primarily been through
14:56administrative um uh actions rather than rather than technical actions and and the medal is was
15:02indicated it's a it's the c gray it's the highest honor and it is very uh you know very nice
15:08to be
15:08rewarded for efforts over many years both in australia and internationally yes what does it feel to be
15:15back like uh physically for this new session uh and what do you wish maybe for c gray for the
15:22future mr both
15:24oh it feels tremendous uh to be back uh i've been doing this my first c gray meeting in paris
15:32was in 1988
15:331998 so this would mean more than 30 years and i've never never missed the paris meeting and uh uh
15:42and
15:42neither has my wife so so it is so we are very very very very glad to be back uh
15:50but more than that i've
15:51been uh uh associated with one uh particular uh study committee uh the c2 study study committee for power
16:00system operations and uh and these are all old friends and so having not seen them for uh four years
16:09uh this is this has been a homecoming in some ways same question what does it feel to be back
16:17in paris
16:17it's great this is actually my ninth uh trip to paris for the session uh and uh previous to this
16:24session in 2018 uh and it's just great to be back and uh meet face to face while c gray
16:30did a great job
16:31with the virtual sessions uh i think there's nothing like uh being face to face and being able to catch
16:36up
16:36with people and go and have a meal and a beer and talk about lots of different things so it's
