00:08We are now with the current technical chair of SIGRE, Mathieu Sarkman. Hi.
00:13My pleasure to be here. Hi.
00:16Can you name some of the most popular technical themes that are being discussed in this session?
00:22Are there some changes in this technical theme this year?
00:27Yes, there is an evolution of the subjects and main topics of interest for the community,
00:36if I can say so, the electrical community, electricity community.
00:40There are many things happening in terms of integration, integrating renewable sources
00:47and digitalization of processes, digital content of equipment
00:54and the transition for a more clean world.
01:00So there are many things happening and new energy sources that could be available in a short time.
01:08So I think we have many challenges. We are not lacking any kind of challenges.
01:14That's true. Energy Transition is, of course, as you said, at the center of this year's opening panel.
01:21Can you tell us a little bit more about it?
01:25Energy Transition is just a general word. I prefer talking about transformation.
01:32Yeah. We have transformation on equipment design. We have transformation on planning of the systems,
01:42the electricity systems, designing, operation, maintenance and in the business as well.
01:52Because I believe the electrical power business is under expansion to other markets like transportation, for instance,
02:02with electrical vehicles. So there is a lot of things happening which are quite positive for CIGRE to capture all
02:13of them in our main body of work,
02:17and in our events like the CIGRE session. So I think we are doing a very attractive platform for professionals
02:30dealing with the energy sector.
02:33Yes. And do you think that CIGRE will have new technical topics in the coming events in the coming years?
02:40Maybe, yes. Probably, yes. Not maybe, but probably, yes. Because there are some expansions expected to be faced by us.
02:55The societies are closely to 100% electrified. So the dependency on electricity is a big issue today.
03:07They like food, like drinkable water. So we have more or less a triangle of health conditions and electricity.
03:16If you don't have electricity, you don't have almost anything.
03:21Anything. Yes, more or less like that. So I think the system, the conventional system, the conventional business is changing,
03:32but not reducing, reducing, but expanding. So I really believe that we are going to have more new topics in
03:41the coming years of CIGRE.
03:42Regarding your very strong experience in the industry, can you give young professionals insight on how eventually they can contribute
03:51on highly technical topics,
03:54even if they are new in it? Yes, for sure. We need young people because we are in a digitalized
04:04society.
04:05We have digital economy, digital health, digital energy. Everything is digital. Young people are more proud to give solutions, contributions
04:15in a quicker, in a more robust way.
04:19So it's essential for CIGRE to attract new people. We are doing a good work with the NGN, our body,
04:28the New Generation Network.
04:31And this is expanding, but we need more young people to enter into us and to make this contribution from
04:42new minds.
04:43And they will find an amazing library of technical aspects and papers within the CIGRE. So welcome to them.
04:53Yes, welcome to them. We need you. Please come and see us. You are going to find a big career
05:01for you in energy here in CIGRE.
05:04So we are very open for you and we are expecting you to come and to join CIGRE.
05:10Thank you. Thank you for this message and have a great session.
05:14Yeah, we have a big responsibility having such a large number of registrations.
05:20So we have a big responsibility now after the pandemic.
