03:54It's yet a brand new week, but this week is a little bit different
03:57because guess what?
03:58We're approaching month end.
04:01Now, I know many persons are anticipating this
04:03because they want to see when the eagle is going to land,
04:05but sometimes some of us feel like we stand in front of a Lascaux fan
04:09and the money just blows away.
04:11But nonetheless, I hope you all had an enjoyable, a safe weekend.
04:14We have a lot to discuss today, but before we do that,
04:17today is Monday, so that means one thing.
04:19We have El Capitan to steer the ship with us this evening,
04:22and of course my co-host, who's always willing and always bringing closure to us.
04:27We have Captain Rambrad.
04:29Good evening to you, sir.
04:30Good evening, Whitney, and a pleasant good evening to our viewers on Beyond the Tape
04:34and those in Grenada and our international audience.
04:37And, you know, Whitney, it's a new week,
04:41but I know that it is the week in which the Tobago Carnival starts.
04:49And I was following some social media.
04:51They had activities like FETS over the weekend and stuff.
04:57And I looked at the weather for the rest of the week,
05:00and it seems as if Tobago is going to get a really hot conditions for a carnival.
05:07And I know, you know, hot weather is always welcome,
05:11but you have to deal with the heat,
05:13so be careful as you go out there,
05:15at least in the weekend when you hit the streets, right?
05:18I just want to provide a word of caution,
05:21because in the news, there was someone,
05:24I'm not sure if it was the TTPS was saying,
05:27you know, they need to look at the boat traffic between Trinidad and Tobago,
05:32and I'm not speaking about the regular passenger cargo boats.
05:36They were talking about boats from Toko on the north coast to Tobago, right?
05:42So we want you to be very careful.
05:44Before I came on the program,
05:47an SOS was sent out from a pirog in Tobago waters for assistance.
05:53They were drifting with five persons aboard,
05:57and then shortly before I came on,
06:01the Coast Guard contacted me and told me that they were within sight.
06:07And just a minute ago,
06:08a message came in that they were safely located.
06:11So we're asking those persons in Tobago,
06:15pirogs really are part of the carnival tourism product.
06:19So just be careful and make sure you have your safety gear
06:22and you check your engines
06:23and keep your communication devices with you,
06:26because they were able to send a SOS to the North Coast Command Center,
06:32and that message was then relayed to the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard.
06:38Well, I am pleading to those in charge of the airline.
06:41They all realize the extent persons are going
06:44just to reach Tobago for the season.
06:47So it is clear that you all can make some extra cash
06:50by adding more flights,
06:53more time for persons to be able to make their way to Tobago.
06:57And of course, you know, in this case,
06:58we will be patronizing the Tobago unions,
07:02not just for the carnival, for the events,
07:04but also things where persons would just want to be a part of the festivities.
07:09Yeah.
07:09From accommodations, also persons who are able,
07:12the artisans who are there as well.
07:14Yeah, it's a lot to contribute towards the economy in Tobago
07:18and money spins.
07:19Yes.
07:20So it's a time for, you know, everybody to make some money.
07:24And therefore, the airlift and the Seabridge, you know,
07:30has to be able to cater to this,
07:33because that growing is growing, is growing nicely.
07:35The thing that they already said is over 60,000 people come into Tobago,
07:38so fingers crossed I'm hoping my today,
07:40we will see some flights opening up,
07:42so persons wouldn't have to chance it
07:44and take the risk to push themselves to go on top of Europe to Tobago.
07:49Now, right before we went into the weekend,
07:51there was an incident that we saw on social media that was trending,
07:55and let's just say thank God no one was seriously injured,
07:58and this is what I'm speaking of.
08:05Captain, I don't know if you saw this video.
08:07Yes, I saw this, and this was the launching of what seems to be probably a Molotov cocktails
08:17over into the TST compound and lab until there.
08:20So it means that there was a deliberate act of moving fire from over the wall
08:29and into the compound, so therefore it should be classified as arson.
08:33And at the heart of it is copper.
08:37At the heart of it is copper and cables were burnt.
08:40I saw a picture of the burnt cables somewhere around on social media.
08:44But then you have next door a company that they are dealing with flammable liquids and products.
08:53So you could have blown up that entire, just the tanks,
08:57the people living around the area, so you all don't care.
09:01You all don't understand how serious this is going to be.
09:03And it is a prison act to launch those Molotov cocktails just over the wall on the Maid Road.
09:12I mean, I was shocked that that took place.
09:16Well, let me tell you this.
09:17The TTPS continues to work on this, and from their release that we receive here,
09:23they stated that three assisting with investigations into suspected arson at TST compound.
09:29Now, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has launched an investigation
09:33following a report of suspected arson at the Telecommunications Service
09:38in Trinidad and Tobago compound, East Mainwood, Betham,
09:42where a major fire occurred on the night of Saturday, 24th, October, 2026.
09:48Now, three persons are currently assisting police with their investigations into the incident.
09:53The fire was reported at approximately 10.25 p.m.
09:56and involved telecommunications cables, including highly combustible insulated copper cable
10:04stored within the compound.
10:06Now, the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service responded with firefighting resources
10:11mobilized from several fire stations supported by the Water and Service Authority,
10:17the Ministry of Works and Transport, and other agencies.
10:19Police officers secured the affected area and implemented traffic diversions
10:25to facilitate emergency operations.
10:28At approximately 7.35 a.m. on Sunday, 25th, October, 2026,
10:33the fire service advised that the fire had been brought under control
10:37and efforts continue to fully extinguish it.
10:40Now, primarily estimates indicate that the insulated copper cable,
10:46valued at over 20 million TT dollars, was destroyed.
10:50This figure is subject to formal confirmation
10:53and the full extent of the damage is yet to be assessed.

10:59Yeah, and 10.25 p.m. is busy on the Eastern Main Road there in Lavon,
11:04in that area.
11:06And as I say, it's a brazen attempt simply to burn the cables
11:11and probably go later on and collect the copper from it.
11:15But, I mean, people come up with creative ways
11:18and I hope that they are brought to justice
11:21because areas supposed to have cameras
11:24and we cannot condone that type of action at all.
11:30It must not be tolerated.
11:32Now, quickly, I don't know if you know that we always in the morning,
11:35Sunday morning, that there was an outage in the Beatham area.
11:39Yes, I read about it, yes.
11:41Did you get an update or report on what was the cause?
11:44No, I didn't see an update or report on the cause,
11:47but I remember seeing that there was a blackout in that area.
11:50Yes, in that area.
11:51Yeah, it could have been related to the fire, I'm not sure.
11:54Yes, but let's get straight into our missions now.
11:56Yes, so we had a case to deal with during the week
12:01and with me very, very, very...
12:04You tell me what you think, right?
12:06So in April of 2026, a gentleman by the name of Duran Munilal, age 75,
12:13from Pepper Village in Tablan went to the harvest yams
12:17and he got lost in the back there.
12:21And after four days, we were able to find him barely alive,
12:24yes, dehydrated, barely alive, unable to walk
12:29and luckily he survived.
12:31Yes, he went to the harvest.
12:32So to my shock, on Wednesday night,
12:35I received a call from his sister
12:38saying that Duran Tulsi Munilal
12:41went to harvest yams again
12:45because the yams season is now coming in, right?
12:48And he went there and it was already two nights he had spent.
12:54Well, he would have spent that said Wednesday night as well.
12:58So two nights, three days.
13:00We had to rush down to Pepper Village there.
13:03We got there at 6 a.m.
13:05and launch a switch for Tulsi.
13:07But in that previous incident,
13:09he had his two black dogs with him.
13:12And this time around, he had them as well.
13:15So we were able, after probably about three hours of searching,
13:19we heard the dogs.
13:20We went in the direction of where the dogs were barking.
13:23And we found him.
13:24We found him alive.
13:26We've been better spirits.
13:27This is Tulsi here.
13:31So the thing is,
13:33look, the two dogs here with him, Whitney.
13:35And, you know, they were his companion.
13:39And right where we met him is right where he spent the night, right?
13:42He would have cut some leaves on spending night.
13:45But the thing about it is,
13:47we deal with the elderly and the aging disorders.
13:51And certainly, somebody has to keep him in check
13:55to let him know that he cannot go in the back
13:57and have a Siams anymore.
14:00And, you know,
14:01it's something Alzheimer's is present in most lost cases
14:05with or missing persons with respect to the elderly.
14:09So this is him coming out before his day with us.
14:15This time he was in a better, much better condition.
14:18But immediately.
14:20It was only two days this time?
14:22Or a day?
14:23Three days, two nights.
14:25This incident?
14:26This incident.
14:26The last previous one was four days.
14:28Okay.
14:29But, you know, I was trying to buff him.
14:31But, you know, keep him.
14:32He couldn't.
14:32I just said,
14:33Tusi, just don't come any back here.
14:36Now, is it that as children of these elderly persons,
14:44and it may be even those who may be relatives as well,
14:47when they have been accustomed doing things all their life
14:51and functioning,
14:52and now they have to be dependent on individuals,
14:55and you now have to listen to what they say to do
14:58because you have to now live in their world,
15:00it is hard for some of them.
15:02It is hard.
15:03They are still wanting to experience
15:04and do the things they really want to do.
15:06So, would you advise that to the children of these
15:11beautiful people that we see trying to still continue living,
15:15that we should accommodate them,
15:17find a way to make time,
15:19go into, like you know he likes to plant his yams.
15:24Why don't you accommodate that?
15:26Or even if you can't be there,
15:27find somebody who is also willing to be with him.
15:31No, I agree with that
15:32because Tulsi is our custom in the back there,
15:35and you know,
15:37we know he is Alzheimer's.
15:39He is our custom.
15:40So, what they could do is also purchase the tag.
15:43We were inside there,
15:44we got our service,
15:46cellular service,
15:47in most of the areas.
15:49You purchase the tag,
15:51and you put it in his boots or somewhere on him.
15:54You say, Tulsi, wear this.
15:55So, in the event you don't come back in the evening,
15:58we could come and find you.
15:59We know the direct spot.
16:01That is his brother and wife there.
16:02Or just accommodate him.
16:04Sometimes they want the company too, you know.
16:06So, I mean,
16:07I can't speak on behalf of anyone
16:10and what your life is and how it's set up,
16:13but the same way they took time
16:15and, you know,
16:17had patience with us as children.
16:19Yeah, the children now have to have the said patience
16:22and, you know, assist them,
16:25assist them,
16:26but, you know,
16:27his dogs give.
16:29His dogs teed with him for the four days
16:31and they stayed with him for the three days.
16:33Yeah, they kept in company.
16:35Yes, yes, yes.
16:36And, well, it was a dog's back that I heard.
16:40I was in the lead
16:41and when I mounted this hill,
16:44just as I got to the top,
16:46very faint,
16:47I heard the dog barking softly
16:51and then we paid attention to it
16:53and, you know,
16:54we were able to get to him.
