00:00We also discuss the trans-boundary haze.
00:05I completely agree with Pak Tata that in fact the first and the primary victims of the haze are Indonesian
00:13citizens,
00:14especially those in Kalimantan and in Sumatra.
00:19The El Nino is a natural climatic phenomenon,
00:24but the haze is not a natural phenomenon.
01:15So, Singapura stands in solidarity with Indonesia.
01:18This is a common problem, and one that we can best achieve collectively.
01:26We appreciate the efforts of President Prabowo in trying to resolve this problem.
01:34And I also want to pay tribute to the many thousands of Indonesian emergency personnel and firefighters
01:44who have been working tirelessly over the past few weeks in very difficult and dangerous circumstances.
01:51And in fact, I know some of them have been, in fact, quite severely injured.
01:56And we pray for their recovery.
02:00These are people literally on the front line.
02:04We also recognize the President's firm commitment to hold the companies responsible for these forests and land fires,
02:15make them accountable,
02:16and to prioritize fire prevention as a long-term solution.
02:23I shared with Pak Tata how we will be taking action against the companies who are responsible for the haze,
02:29including those who are registered in Singapore.
02:34And I can give you this assurance that we are going to exercise all,
02:39every single legal and regulatory power.
02:43And we are prepared to use an even wider range of legal, regulatory, and economic measures
02:48to deter future violations by companies.
02:53And we will work closely with Indonesia.
02:56Pak Tata proposed the establishment of a joint task force.
03:00Singapore agrees.
03:02And we are, in effect, putting all the companies on notice
03:06that the joint task force will ensure that there is a very close coordination of actions
03:14and sharing of information between Indonesia and Singapore.
03:18And we expect, therefore, the deterrence impact of this joint task force to make a difference.
03:26Looking ahead,
03:27As I said,
03:272027 will be an important year for both our countries.
03:31We, in fact, will be commemorating the 60th anniversary of our diplomatic relations.
03:37And this is an opportunity not only to celebrate,
03:41not only to look back at our history, but also to look forward at what we can do together.
03:48Singapore will also be Chairman of ASEAN in 2027.
03:52And I would reflect that Indonesia has always played a key role in ASEAN,
03:58since the beginning as a founder of ASEAN.
04:03Jakarta is home to the ASEAN Secretariat.
04:06In fact, the first Secretary-General of ASEAN was also Indonesian.
04:11And we look forward to working closely with Indonesia to strengthen ASEAN's unity, centrality,
04:17and resilience during our chairmanship.
04:26Terima kasih.
