Mi-Anne liked her last laser facial so much she decides to go back for a second one. This time it's the carbon peel facial and the results are worth a look.
Transcript
00:00Hey guys, it's me Anne, and this is Beauty With Me.
00:02Early in the summer, I got my first laser facial,
00:04and I came out of that 15-minute treatment so thrilled with the results.
00:09So, I decided to go back, but this time, for something a little bit more intense.
00:14Three, two, one.
00:18So, back at the spa, I zipped over to Skin Laundry,
00:21met Elise Shelger, the same registered nurse who performed my first treatment,
00:25and she sat me down for the carbon peel.
00:27So, last time I was here, when I got the 15-minute laser facial,
00:31I saw that there was this cool other treatment that you guys do
00:34that involves carbon, it's called the carbon peel.
00:37I wanted to try it, but I was told that I couldn't,
00:39because you need to get the first laser treatment first.
00:42Is that correct?
00:42Is it the same two lasers that we used last time, the YAG and the IPL?
00:46Yes, what differentiates this carbon peel from others that you may see on the market
00:50is that we couple it with the IPL treatment,
00:53and the IPL is really effective for destroying acne-causing bacteria,
00:58which is photosensitive, and it calms inflammation and redness.
01:02So, it's just a really good one-two punch for breakouts,
01:05and it gives you a really amazing glow,
01:08since we're removing the dead skin cells.
01:09Well, I'm very excited to do this.
01:11I feel like I'm at that time of the month where I need it,
01:13so shall I let it out?
01:15Yes, I'm so excited that you're here to try it, and let's get started.
01:18Okay, so the first thing I'll do is use one of Skin Laundry's Purifying Cleansing Claws
01:22just to remove any residual makeup or oils from your skin before we get started.
01:28So, the carbon peel involves a similar process as the laser facial that you had last time,
01:33with an added step where we apply a carbon lotion to your skin prior to the laser treatment.
01:39We're going to let this set for about 10 minutes.
01:42While it's setting, it will bind to the stratum corneum,
01:47the hour-most layer of your skin,
01:49and any material within your pores.
01:52I'm now just going to remove any excess.
01:54We want the laser to really reach the skin,
01:58so we don't want too thick of a layer.
02:07Okay, so the first pass that I'm going to do is called Heat Mode.
02:11This is going to help the carbon to better bind to that outermost layer of skin.
02:20So, beginning on the center of your forehead.
02:23Three, two, one.
02:28How does that feel?
02:29It feels fine.
02:29It actually kind of tickles a little bit.
02:31You'll hear more of the loud crackling sound,
02:35because as the laser is passed over the carbon,
02:37it's attracted to that pigment,
02:39and it's vaporizing.
02:51So, the laser that we used, that you had last time,
02:55does vaporize any debris in the skin and on the surface,
02:58as well as dead skin cells.
03:00This is just going to intensify that exfoliation,
03:03and it will create more fumes just because of the carbon.
03:06And that's why we'll use a vacuum.
03:16Like any of our facials,
03:18it's appropriate for all skin types and all skin concerns,
03:21but we do believe that this is the best treatment for acne-prone skin,
03:25because you're getting that deep pore cleanse,
03:27and it's removing the outermost layer of skin with no downtime.
03:30So, it can help reduce the chance of clogged pores,
03:34and just remove that dead skin that accumulates on the surface.
03:41Okay, and I'm going to apply the gel for your IPL now.
03:45This is just a water-based gel.
03:47And this IPL gel helps to evenly distribute the light on your skin,
03:54and you get a really even treatment.
03:56So, with this one, you may feel a little bit of heat,
03:59and you'll mostly just see a very bright flash.
04:25A little bit of SPF moisturizer to protect you on the way out.
04:32The big reveal.
04:34Ta-da.
04:36Same thing as last time, I feel like.
04:37It looks a lot less red,
04:39which is, I always think, ironic,
04:41because you're, like, literally zapping yourself.
04:44I feel like the pores on my nose are, like, smaller too, a little bit.
04:47Well, thank you so much for seeing me, man.
04:49Thanks for coming back. I'm so happy to see you, too.
04:51You're the best.
04:51My skin looks smoother, clearer, less irritated,
04:55less red after the treatment.
04:56In fact, on my way out, I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror
04:59and actually did a double take
05:01because I was so surprised
05:03at how clear my skin looked with that foundation.
05:06So, as you can tell, I really liked it,
05:09but I will say that this treatment is 30 minutes,
05:11and it costs $150,
05:13which is a pretty big price jump
05:15from the original Laser and Light Facial,
05:17which only costs $65 per treatment,
05:19but it's also only 15 minutes.
05:21So, I would definitely take them to account if you're going to go.
05:24I think that, you know, obviously start off
05:26with the Laser and Light Facial.
05:27It's a great treatment.
05:28There's no downtime.
05:29It's so fast, you're in and out.
05:31But, all in all, I gotta say,
05:33the Carbon Peel was really good.
05:35And that is it!
05:36My opinion on the Carbon Facial.
05:38I obviously really, really liked it,
05:40and I will see you guys next week.
05:41Bye!
