00:00I think I'm going to fall asleep during this.
00:02No way.
00:03This feels like it's going to be relaxing.
00:05Oh yeah, I forgot.
00:06No naps.
00:08Hey guys, it's Mi-Anne and this is Beauty With Me.
00:11Today, I got a facial at the gym.
00:14Sort of.
00:15I went to Face Gym.
00:16It's a spa that has made very, very intense facial massage.
00:21It's bread and butter.
00:23I've been hearing about Face Gym for quite some time now,
00:25so when the brand reached out to us to give us the exclusive to film the brand's new Skin IV
00:31machine,
00:31which is an add-on to any of Face Gym's original facials,
00:34I jumped on the opportunity to try it out and we filmed it for your viewing pleasure.
00:40Face Gym isn't your typical spa.
00:41In fact, its founder, Inga Theron, would describe it more as a place that you go to work out your
00:46face.
00:47Instead of having, you know, your typical private rooms,
00:50there are four chairs lined up where their trainers, so their facialists,
00:54will do their work on your face.
00:57Hey guys, I'm here with Inga Theron.
00:59She is the founder of Face Gym,
01:00and I am going to get my first workout today.
01:03I'm very excited because I've heard a lot of very good things about this.
01:07I've been dying to know how Face Gym came about.
01:10I've done a ton of different facials, but I have never done one like this before.
01:13I realized that muscle manipulation wasn't being done effectively enough.
01:18People were still doing facials and product on, product off.
01:22It just doesn't give you that long-term efficacy that I think you can actually get
01:25when you work and manipulate the muscles.
01:28And so I was like, there's got to be a different way.
01:30Why don't I take a training approach, which I'm doing with my body,
01:34and apply that to beauty.
01:35And that's when I started working with a plethora of experts
01:39to try and create a protocol that actually stimulates the forgotten,
01:43what we call forgotten 40 muscles in the face.
01:45At Theron's suggestion, I went for the Game Face Treatment,
01:49which, like most workouts, starts with a slow warm-up.
01:53My facialist, Elle, started with stretching my neck, cleansing my skin,
01:57giving me a gentle facial massage before whipping out a little red yoga ball
02:01that she used to stretch, relieve tension on my face, open up my sinuses, the whole shebang.
02:06So how's your skin feeling today?
02:08Um, actually my skin feels pretty good.
02:10I'm just prone to congestion.
02:12Okay, we use our training serum.
02:14Since you say you're prone to breakouts, I'm going to be using our clear skin.
02:18Then after applying the serum to my face, Elle whipped out the big guns,
02:21and that was a radio frequency machine.
02:23Now radio frequency is a type of energy that encourages cell turnover
02:27and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin by heating up the layers of the skin.
02:32This is actually a device I've never used before, so I was a little bit worried that it would burn.
02:37It actually didn't at all. It felt really good.
02:40It had this rotating knob on it that felt like a little massage.
02:43There were sections of my face where it was a little bit uncomfortable,
02:46but overall it was a really pleasurable experience.
02:49Then it was time for the cardio portion, which was essentially a very intense,
02:54super like whipping fast facial massage that simulates circulation,
02:59brings blood to the surface of the skin, and improves texture.
03:02Elle's hands like work so quickly, like gliding past your skin.
03:07It looks like it would hurt, but it actually felt really good.
03:11It felt like it's just a really fast range facial massage.
03:14It helps drain lymph. It helps improve circulation.
03:17I generally really, really liked it.
03:19Then it was time to sculpt my face, and not going to lie,
03:22this was the portion that was actually the most uncomfortable.
03:26Imagine a masseuse working out not on your back, but doing that on your face.
03:31The pressure was pretty firm, but afterward I really do think I could see a slight difference
03:36in the contours of my face and just overall lifting.
03:46Once the cardio workout was done, Elle moved on to another device.
03:49It's a microcurrent device.
03:51The microcurrent device basically uses electricity to stimulate muscles and cause them to tighten.
03:57I could actually feel my lips and my eyelid like twitching as the device glided over those areas.
04:05Finally, we got to the main event, which was the new SkinIV machine.
04:09Inspired by the vitamin drips and intravenous fluid that people get when they're just feeling kind of bland,
04:15Inga was inspired by that kind of technology and wanted to create something for the face that had similar boosting
04:20effects without a needle.
04:22It's essentially a customizable form of hydrogen evasion, which uses water, oxygen, and special serums to exfoliate
04:29and help with dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
04:31After spraying the detox water on my skin as the first step, which contains silver oxide, which is antibacterial hyaluronic
04:37acid,
04:38which is hydrating an aloe vera juice that's very soothing, she moved on to a serum.
04:42Elle decided to use two different serums on my face, the Clear Skin cocktail and the Glow Shot.
04:47Both serums combined fight acne with a mix of acids and vitamin B5 to hydrate and tone the skin.
04:54The best way to describe this treatment is prickly.
04:58It's not painful, but you're definitely aware that there's a spray going like 200 miles per hour on your skin.
05:03It doesn't hurt, but you definitely feel a little bit of that sensation.
05:06After my skin was sufficiently sprayed, Elle moved on to some facial guassa and finished off with some products
05:12just to keep my skin nice and hydrated and protected after I left the studio.
05:16I've got to admit that before I went to Face Gym, I did have a little too much wine the
05:21night before,
05:22so my skin was definitely feeling puffy.
05:24After I got the facial, I could definitely see a difference in just the general contours of my face.
05:30It was kind of cool to see that slight effect without makeup.
05:33In truth, though, I think I might be a little bit too young to see drastic results from Face Gym.
05:38Their treatments ranged from $70 for the Signature Facial to $275 for the Game Face, which is what I got.
05:44I think that to really see marked results, you'd have to go back multiple times.
05:49Actually, Inga recommends six times.
05:51For me, though, I think this is something that I would do before a big event,
05:54or if I'm just feeling like just gross, congested, and puffy,
05:57because it really does help with lymphatic drainage and helps reduce inflammation.
06:01For those of you who don't have a Face Gym near you or simply just don't want to spend the
06:06cash on it,
06:07I'd recommend doing some facial massage at home.
06:09You can do it just with your fingers as you put on your moisturizer or when you do an oil
06:12cleanse,
06:12or you can spring for a facial massage tool.
06:15I just got this new facial gua sa tool.
06:17I got this one at Herbivore Botanicals.
06:20You can use it to give yourself a little facial massage in the evening or in the morning when you're
06:24just applying your product.
06:25It's good to get a little bit of a deeper massage than you can get with your fingers,
06:29but honestly, I highly recommend both.
06:30Okay, that is it. Thank you guys so much for watching.
06:33I really enjoyed making this video, and I will catch you guys next week.
06:36Bye.
