Lauren, from our UK office, shaves her head for the first time to give her hair a fresh start.

00:00Today I'm going to be shaving my hair off and I've been asking myself why I'm
00:03going to do it. It's a really simple answer, it's just because I can.
00:09Hello everybody my name is Lauren and today I'm going to shave my hair off.
00:14Over the last couple of years I have dyed and bleached my hair more times than I
00:19can count and whilst it looks cool there's a couple of ways I could use to describe my hair.
00:23It's obliterated, dry, destroyed, decimated and overall just a little bit
00:29screwed. So what am I gonna do? I'm gonna cut it all off and then I'm gonna do it
00:34all over again. I have never shaved all my hair off before. I don't know what my
00:39head looks like, it might be really weird shaped but I'm actually really excited
00:44because I get to see that about myself and it's pretty spontaneous. Nothing says
00:48I'm gonna do something weird today like shaving all of your hair off.
00:55I'm gonna be shaving my hair off in stages and there's one main reason. I've seen a
00:59lot of people with beards and they get to have fun with it. They give themselves a
01:02little goatee, a bit of a stash and it looks really fun. So why can't I do the
01:07same? This is the most fun thing I've ever done. I love it.
01:16First of all I'm going to go for a mohawk. So historically women have shaved
01:21their hair off and it just looks really cool. Recently Phoebe Rose has done it.
01:24Jessie J did it for charity a few years ago and if they look awesome, why can't I?
01:35I wish I could, like, stick it up and now I just want to do more.
01:42Second, a mullet because Joe Exotic has been the style icon of the year.
01:49I've turned myself into a judge on the Great British Make-Off and I'm okay with that.
01:59This is really cool. It's not quite Joe Exotic but, you know, it's Joe Exotic if he went to
02:05raves in the 80s, really. What is it? Party in the front, business in the back. Like, normal.
02:12Party.
02:14Third, a bit of a BTS hairstyle. Let's go a little K-pop.
02:20I don't know if it's K-pop or if it's more like, can I speak to your manager? What have
02:25I done?
02:29And then last, I'm going to go whole hog. Let's get rid of it all.
02:33I've got another accidental mullet and it's awful. It's very 90s, very frosted tips. I'm going to have fun getting
02:39good at this now.
02:56Oh my god. I love it.
03:00Oh my god. I love it.
03:05Oh my god. I love it.
03:14I absolutely love my hair. It's incredible. It's the most liberating thing I've ever done and to just
03:20get rid of all of it was just so exhilarating. There's so much adrenaline and I love it.
03:27I feel so refreshed by doing this. I didn't realise how freeing it would be. It's so soft. It's incredible.
03:35It's absolutely amazing. Like, 500% recommend this to anyone who is even considering doing it.
03:43I am a bonafide adult now and a lot of the choices that I make are influenced by work,
03:49by lifestyle or just the way that 2020's been to us. I made a decision for myself and hopefully it's
03:56a
03:56sign of the year to come. It's going to feel this liberating and this exciting and exhilarating.
04:01We're settling into a new normal and maybe my new normal is having no hair.
04:06But로aly and everything is that makes sense.
