Like many beauty-centric ladies, we spend a significant chunk of change on the care and upkeep of our hair. Because, surely, you can't put a price on perfectly coiffed locks. That said, when it comes to the visible-bobby-pin trend, the cost of awesome hair hovers somewhere around 99 cents. That's right — those 100-for-a-dollar bobby pins hiding in the bottom of your beauty bag are finally having their moment.

To teach us how to pin down (har, har) this trend once and for all, we called in hair pro Michael Dueñas. With his help, our assistant beauty editor Gabrielle got this simple style down pat in seconds. Check it out, above.

00:03Woof! Woof!
00:04Well that was good. That's my dog. My dog says arf. Arf?
00:07Instead of woof. Arf! Arf! I practice at night.
00:18I noticed a new
00:19trend of hairstyles that feature bobby pins rather than hiding them.
00:23So I was wondering if you could teach me. I guess I could show you how.
00:26Begin by pushing your hair forward forming a nice C shape. Use your bob pin
00:30and push from the back of your head forwards to secure that wave. Then
00:34create another C going the opposite direction. Place your bob pin in going
00:38from the front towards the back creating a more defined wave.
00:47Continue doing this to just about your hairline. Push the hair behind your ear
00:50and secure with another bob. Creating a faux finger wave.
00:55Now on the opposite side of your head, push the hair into a slight C
00:58and secure with a bob pin.
01:02Once you have finished the sides, feel free to tuck in the back with a few pins as well.
01:11So this is a cool way to accessorize your hair
01:14with pins you already have.
01:16And continue!
01:17Maybe not too many pins!
