00:10Hi, I'm Isabelle from Afinery29.
00:12And I'm Bethany Brill. Chances are good you have an old faithful flat iron that you use to smooth out
00:17your locks.
00:18Today we're going to show you how to get an even smoother finish.
00:22We're going to start by sectioning off the hair.
00:24Go above your ears and follow your fingers to the back of your head.
00:28This creates a perfect first section.
00:32Clip up the rest of your hair.
00:34Separate the back into two sections.
00:37Now we're going to take a comb and a flat iron.
00:40Use the comb as a guide for your straight iron.
00:43This is going to help detangle and make sure that the hair is flat ironed evenly.
00:50You're going to sort of pulse the straight iron at the root of the hair.
00:53This is going to ensure that it's mark free.
00:57And it's going to also straighten the thickest part of the hair, which is right at the root.
01:02If you have thicker hair, just move the straight iron along the shaft of the hair more slowly.
01:07To ensure there's no creasing, you can start by holding the hair out with the comb.
01:12Pulse the straight iron in an upward, rounded motion.
01:16For the top section, the surface of the hair, we're going to use a little hairspray to ensure
01:22that we seal in any frizz.
01:25With these tips, you can avoid any kinks and have perfectly smooth straight hair every time.
01:30Don't ask me how.
01:34I just seem to attract the cat.
