00:04High pressure has been keeping it settled across much of the UK today and that remains the case through tonight
00:11as well.
00:12But low pressure sits to the west of us and that's going to move in and push north and eastwards
00:18across the UK over the next 24 hours or so,
00:21introducing spells of rain and some stronger winds too, particularly as we head into Monday across parts of Scotland.
00:28But for now, a quiet end to the days that high pressure just about holds on.
00:33But as that low pressure system becomes closer to the UK, it does turn increasingly cloudy across the west with
00:39some showery outbreaks of rain moving in during the early hours.
00:42The rain could turn particularly heavy across northwest Scotland later on in the night, but with southerly winds, it does
00:49mean a mild night for everybody.
00:51Temperatures holding up in double figures.
00:53As central and eastern parts of England generally staying dry, the risk of some showers moving in across parts of
00:58Wales,
00:59the west country pushing north and eastwards through Sunday morning.
01:02So the details for Sunday is that there's a wet and cloudy start across the north and the west of
01:06the UK,
01:07with rain pushing eastwards through the morning, turning brighter across England and Wales with one or two light showers,
01:13but increasing amounts of sunshine as the afternoon progresses.
01:16However, as the low pressure system edges nearer, parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland generally remain much cloudier,
01:23with showery outbreaks of rain pushing eastwards, which could be heavy at times, accompanied by quite a gusty southerly wind.
01:30But with the air coming in from the south, we are going to draw in some quite warm air for
01:34the time of year.
01:35Temperatures 25 to 28 Celsius in the best of the sunshine across central and southern parts of England under the
01:41cloud further north,
01:42generally the high teens to low 20, so a warmer feeling day for everyone compared to what we've seen today.
01:50As we head over into the evening time, these bands of rain across the northwest just push a little further
01:54south and eastwards,
01:55but fragment into showers as they move into parts of England and Wales.
01:59But there could be still some heavy bursts in there, following on behind this, clear spells and a scattering of
02:05showers for Northern Ireland and Scotland.
02:07And again, with a lot of cloud around, temperatures generally holding up 15, 16, locally 17 Celsius across parts of
02:13England and Wales, for example.
02:15But it does mean a cloudier start to Monday, some showery outbreaks of rain pushing their way south and eastwards,
02:21but there'll be some sunny spells in between,
02:22and then turning increasingly wet and windy across parts of Northern Ireland, Northern and Western Scotland,
02:28as the low pressure system edges closer, gales possible across northwest Scotland, around the coast and over the hills as
02:35well.
02:35But after a cloudy start across England and Wales, it does become a little brighter,
02:39and there will be some sunny spells, a scattering of showers, but most of these are light, and most places
02:44will stay dry.
02:45Temperatures a little lower again on Monday, but best of the sunshine reaching around 24, possibly 25 degrees,
02:51feeling rather cool with the strength of the wind and outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland and Scotland.
02:57Then going forward through the week, it generally remains fairly unsettled across the whole of the UK.
03:02We'll see spells of rain at times, particularly in the north and the west, where it'll be quite windy,
03:07but there'll be some drier interludes in the south, so not huge amounts of rainfall across the south,
03:12and temperatures generally for everyone, turning nearer to average for the time of year.
