00:05Overnight, rain across Scotland and Northern Ireland has blossomed.
00:09It's intensified. A slow-moving weather front, quite active front though, bringing gusty winds, thunder and hail
00:15before it clears towards the east as high pressure exerts an influence from the west.
00:19If you're stepping out first thing this morning, eastern counties of Scotland, northern England, the far east of Northern Ireland,
00:25you'll see some heavy rain, a different experience weather-wise for western Scotland and the rest of Northern Ireland
00:31with a few drifting showers. Showers breaking out ahead of it for the North Midlands, eastern counties of England,
00:36a few down towards southern parts of Wales, but anywhere from the Cotswolds eastwards, some fine weather to come through
00:42this morning,
00:42even with brighter breaks and some sunshine. But this weather front here, notice we're seeing some bright echoes,
00:49representing some intense heavy downpours. So problems on the roses, spray, poor visibility, surface water,
00:56tricky driving conditions through the morning and into the afternoon as the rain from Wales and Northern England
01:01pushes down towards the Midlands, eastern counties of England, the East Anglia.
01:07Showers in its wake as well and quite a gusty wind associated with it. A breezy end to the day
01:12for eastern counties,
01:13whereas for Northern Ireland, a fine end to the afternoon with some sunshine, western central parts of Scotland, Wales,
01:20the West Country. So most places seeing some sunshine to end Wednesday. A legacy of those showers continue
01:26along this eastern strip here. And here, temperatures probably struggling up to 16, 17 degrees Celsius.
01:33Inland, we'll see 2023, but a fresher feel to things across more northern and western areas, 15 or 16 Celsius
01:39at the very best.
01:40At least there will be a fine evening and that wet weather eventually clears even the east coast.
01:46Now, high pressure topples over, but it is moving eastwards. It does mean overnight into Thursday morning, clear skies,
01:53temperatures really plummeting, a colder night than we've experienced recently, even with some grass frost across rural parts.
02:02And you really will notice the difference if you're stepping out first thing. You may have to layer up.
02:06But notice more clouds just thickening towards the west northern Ireland, western Scotland, west Wales perhaps as well.
02:12So starry skies, eastern Scotland, northern England, east Wales, down towards central southern areas.
02:18And here, yes, a chilly morning, but certainly a bright one.
02:21So here are your temperatures. Look how low they will be.
02:25Mid-single figures, and that's the towns and cities, hence the reason why there is a chance of a grass
02:29frost in the countryside.
02:30And even further west, despite the cloud thickening, you'll see temperatures still 5 to 8 degrees Celsius.
02:36But notice the breeze picking up across the southwest peninsula, the southwest of Wales, Irish Sea Coast, the North Channel,
02:43western parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
02:45A breezy start to the morning and also a bit of a cloudier one.
02:49And in fact, that cloud will continue to thicken through the day.
02:52Eventually, we'll see some outbreaks of rain.
02:54We hang on to brighter breaks, if not some sunshine, across more central, southern and southeastern areas.
02:59Temperatures here 18 to 20 degrees Celsius.
03:02That cloud and showery rain continues its passage southwards as we head through to Friday, with more showers following across
03:09western Scotland.
03:10But temperatures on the up, feeling a little bit better.
03:1318 for Manchester, 25 for London, but only 16 under some cloudier skies for Edinburgh, 15 for Northern Ireland.
03:20So, fresher conditions remain across more northern and western areas.
03:25And into Saturday.
03:27Yes, we could see some showers, particularly towards the northwest.
03:31One or two could break out further northeast.
03:33But for most, it's a fine day, with some sunny breaks and temperatures on the up, 17 to 20 degrees
03:38Celsius generally.
