00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Warm under some sunny skies as we head through today, whereas across the north as well as the west,
00:11a band of cloud and rain will gradually push in across Scotland and Northern Ireland,
00:16with some brighter skies to follow across the far north of Scotland and a light breeze further south.
00:20So here's that band of rain already affecting western and central parts of Scotland,
00:24some patchy rain for Northern Ireland, although down to Belfast and Newry, some dry skies to start.
00:29You can see some fine weather also for eastern Scotland through the first part of today,
00:33and a mix of clouds and mist and fog patches for England and Wales,
00:36and perhaps damp across the northern Pennines, the Cumbrian Fells,
00:41through the first part of the morning where the cloud is thick enough.
00:44So as we head through today, we watch as this cloud and some stronger winds edges in across Scotland
00:50as well as Northern Ireland, a fairly slow process.
00:53Any dampness in the air across the northern hills of England will come and go,
00:58but some brighter breaks, and we'll see a mix of cloud and sunshine through the day across England
01:04and Wales, hanging on to some sunshine generally though across the far south east.
01:09By around lunchtime we can see where this band of cloud and rain is.
01:13Now it's fairly sporadic, so there will be some dry skies associated with it,
01:18but still a lot of cloud as the sun comes out across the northwest highlands,
01:22perhaps a shower or two for the Western Isles.
01:26Through the afternoon, no, hanging on to drier weather and warm conditions across England and Wales,
01:32and that will allow temperatures to rise quite nicely through the afternoon.
01:37So yet again we could see 25 across the home counties,
01:40generally across England and Wales, 21 to 23.
01:43And even under the clouds and the rain, the air is warm, so 19 or 20,
01:47and probably the mid-teens across the far northwest of Scotland where you'll see some brighter weather to end the
01:53day.
01:53So this weather front here continues to bring with it outbreaks of rain as we head through this evening and
01:59overnight,
01:59and that rain could pep up, it could intensify through the evening.
02:04Notice there's not a lot of movement on it, so stalling across central eastern areas of Scotland and Northern Ireland,
02:09edging in across the Isle of Man into the early hours of Wednesday morning,
02:13the far north of England, with a few showers breaking out ahead of it.
02:16For England and Wales, yet again we'll see some clearer skies, a mix of clouds,
02:21perhaps one or two mist and fog patches, a mild night here,
02:25and a fresher end to the night across the northwest of Scotland with one or two showers.
02:30Now this rain will continue its passage eastwards through Wednesday, sporadic at times,
02:36some heavier downpours can't be ruled out, and we hang on to some drier skies further south and east,
02:42but it is nudging down towards northern England.
02:45Some showers though will gradually drift in across the northwest of Scotland.
02:50So here's your outlook through the afternoon.
02:52Notice still a warm day across the southeast, southern parts of Wales as well,
02:57with some sunshine, and the sun should come out as that rain clears.
03:01Northern Ireland, a few showers for Scotland, but where you see the rain through the afternoon,
03:05it could turn heavy yet again before it eventually clears,
03:09and we will see high pressure influence us on Thursday.
03:13And what that means, a quieter day, a lighter breeze, so warm under any brighter breaks,
03:18but the clouds will thicken from the west later, heralding some more wet weather as we enter the day on
03:24Friday.
03:25This rain turns showery through Friday across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England,
03:30with some dry skies towards the north and some brighter weather further south,
03:34and yet again temperatures here 22 to 24 degrees Celsius.
