00:00Some of us, not all of us, but some of us will have some heavy, thundery rain as we go
00:05overnight and through Wednesday.
00:07It's due to a front which is currently lingering across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:12It's already brought a bit of rain, but the heaviest, most persistent rain is still to come as a wavy
00:18feature moves across it and invigorates the rain.
00:21So it is going to turn very wet through the rest of today and overnight across much of Northern Ireland.
00:26Heavy rain also pushing in across Western parts of Scotland, filtering into Eastern and Southern parts through the night.
00:33The far Northwest of Scotland, avoiding the heaviest rain, but there will be some outbreaks of wet weather across Northern
00:38and Western parts of England and Wales.
00:41Towards the Southeast, it's staying drier with some clear skies and whilst many places will hold up in the mid
00:47or low teen Celsius,
00:48some places may just about get into single figures and watch out for a bit of mist and fog that's
00:54likely to develop across some Southern, Southeastern counties.
00:57But a bigger cause for concern is the wet weather.
01:00That front is going to make its progress Southeastwards across much of England and Wales,
01:05and it is going to be heavy, the rain, and also potentially thundery with squirly, gusty winds, large hail.
01:12We're talking in diameter of around 20 millimetres, that could cause some problems, particularly around Eastern England, Lincolnshire.
01:19Worth bearing in mind, far Southern counties actually avoiding most of the rain, if not all of it.
01:23And as we go through the afternoon, the rain will clear away towards the East,
01:27taking the gusty winds and the risk of hail and lightning with it,
01:30and things will be much drier, brighter, sunnier by the end of the afternoon.
01:35There is a slightly fresher field to things developing through the day.
01:38Temperatures in the north will be peaking around mid to possibly high teen Celsius,
01:43but still pretty warm towards the South and Southeast.
01:45Not as warm as Tuesday, but nonetheless highs of around 23, 24, possibly 25 Celsius.
01:52Now let's look at the rain that's coming through.
01:54So initially it will be heaviest across Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland
01:58through the rest of Tuesday and overnight into Wednesday, 20, 30 millimetres in some places.
02:04Then that front, as it's invigorating, pushes its way southeastwards.
02:08And it's not just the 6 to 12 hour totals that we need to watch out for.
02:13It's also the hourly rainfall rates that could cause some problems.
02:16We're talking, like I say, up to 20 millimetres, perhaps even a bit more in less than an hour.
02:22That's enough to cause some difficulties on the roads with some significant spray
02:26and also a bit of flooding in places too.
02:29But later on Wednesday, once that rain's cleared away, we have high pressure buildings.
02:33That's going to help quieten things down.
02:35As a result, it's going to be a largely dry, largely clear night as we go through into Thursday morning.
02:40But with that then, the clear skies, well, we are going to see our temperatures dropping.
02:44A chillier night for sure for many of us.
02:46It will be chilly enough for a touch of grass frost in some rural spots as well.
02:51Bit of a change to what we have at the moment.
02:54Through Thursday itself then, a fine start to the day one.
02:57Yes, a fresh, perhaps even chilly one, but plenty of sunny weather through the morning.
03:01And many areas stay fine and sunny.
03:04But across Northern Ireland, especially in the west and western parts of Scotland here,
03:07we will see the wind strengthening, more cloud building and rain arriving through the afternoon as well.
03:13Temperatures are going to be a little bit lower than they have been recently.
03:17Still, well, around, if not a little bit above average for the time of year.
03:20But we're looking at mid to high teens or just about low 20s really.
03:23Not quite the mid, if not high 20s that we've had earlier on in the week.
03:27There is more wet, changeable weather to come later on through the week.
03:32And, well, what happens thereafter?
