00:00Hello, how's it going? Hope you've had a great day. High pressure has been firmly in control across much of
00:06the country to start this week, and it's going to linger for a little while yet, but there are fronts
00:11to the north. There's actually a cold front becoming an occluded front, making its way southwards through Tuesday. On Tuesday,
00:17it makes quite slow progress, but eventually it will feed its way into parts of England and Wales on Wednesday,
00:24and that's when it could pep up, so that's when we could have some pretty heavy rain. More on that
00:28in a second.
00:30Back to Monday evening, and, well, towards the southeast, across some central parts, a fine end to the day, some
00:36late sunshine, and then often clear skies across southern southeastern parts overnight. As a result, we could see some mist
00:42and fog patches developing here. Elsewhere, well, there will be some clear skies eastern parts of Scotland, northeast England, but
00:49also a bit of cloud here and there, and some outbreaks of rain, especially in the west, with then that
00:53front starting to make its way and bringing some rain to the far west of Northern Ireland and western parts
00:59of Scotland as well.
01:00Ahead of this, we'll see the winds strengthening, so it could be quite blustery for a time too. For most,
01:05it is going to be a relatively mild night, temperatures widely in towns and cities holding up in double digits,
01:12but in the south-southeast, it will be a little bit fresher than this, where we have the clearer skies,
01:16lighter winds, temperatures dropping into single digits here, and like I said earlier, some mist and fog patches first thing
01:22tomorrow morning as well.
01:24Then through the day tomorrow, that front, that rain band in the northwest edges further south and eastwards across parts
01:30of Scotland, so central parts of Scotland, eastern areas, and also the borders area, likely to see some rain.
01:36Also across Northern Ireland, cloudy, wet weather, and some of the rain could be a bit heavy at times too.
01:41To the north of this, well, it's drier, brighter, some sunshine breaking out, and across much of England and Wales,
01:48it's going to be mostly fine.
01:49There will be enough cloud, the cloud thick enough, particularly over hills and mountains, to bring a few spots of
01:55rain here and there, but most places dry, most places seeing some sunshine at times as well.
02:00Temperatures are, if anything, going to be slightly higher than on Monday.
02:05That means in the southeast, we're looking at highs of around 25 Celsius for the north and west, widely high
02:10teens or low 20s.
02:11But if we compare the temperatures we're expecting on Tuesday to average for September, and you can see across many
02:18areas, they are a fair few degrees above.
02:21Not so much towards the northwest, where we have that front lingering. Temperatures pegged back closer to average here, but
02:28yes, elsewhere, temperatures a little bit higher than you'd expect for September.
02:33Later on Tuesday, that front continues to bring rain, could pep up a little bit more, so some heavier, more
02:39persistent rain across Northern Ireland, central, eastern parts, and southern parts of Scotland through the night into Wednesday.
02:45Further south, England and Wales staying mostly dry, with some clouds, some clear breaks, and temperatures not dropping, especially low,
02:53mild night again for many.
02:54But once more, any clear breaks across eastern areas here, it could turn a bit fresher.
02:59And then let's look at the rain that pushes through on Wednesday, because it does make its way across England
03:06and Wales.
03:06So after bringing some early wet weather overnight for Scotland and Northern Ireland, it's then across central northern parts of
03:12England and Wales where we see the heaviest rain through Wednesday.
03:15There is uncertainty at this stage as to exactly how quickly it moves through, where we see the heavier pulses
03:20of rain, but do watch out as there's the potential for 40, 50 millimetres of rain to build up in
03:25some places.
03:25That's enough to cause some localised impact, so it's something we are keeping an eye out for before it clears
03:31away towards the east.
03:32A few showers following in behind across the north, but away from this zone of wet weather, actually, Wednesday's looking
03:38generally fine.
03:39So southern parts, southern counties having another fine day, and whilst temperatures may be not quite as high as on
03:45Tuesday, they are still going to be a few degrees above average for the time of year here.
03:49Mid-teens as our maximum across more northern parts, so a fresher feel for sure.
