00:16Baik, Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
01:31Yes, thank you. Bagi Cambridge English for Life, CEFL, CEFL sudah mencebori dalam bidang assessment
01:41Actually, the first private institution yang membuat exams
01:48Now, di Malaysia sudah 25 tahun. So tahun ini kami menyambut ulang tahun ke 25
01:56Jadi, I think it's complimentary kalau kita buat pilgrimage tour untuk associates kita dan my staff yang sudah bersama saya
02:09buat selamanya
02:11So, for me personally, saya sudah involved dengan exams for 30 years. My school, 25 years. So, as a celebration
02:20or what they call the frosting on the cake, the icing on the cake. So, that's why I bawa lah
02:25my associates, my staff
02:27to come here to see the impact of what they are doing back home for our own Malaysian students
02:35Ok, saya faham.
02:45ataupun satu scenario mengenai kebimbangan ibu bapa lah khususnya
02:50apabila kita bercakap, apabila kita tackle tentang isu bahasa, bahasa Inggeris dan sebagainya
02:58of course kita kena tackle ibu bapa.
03:51Bagi Cambridge English for Life, for the past 25 years, misi kita, our mission, just one
03:56to make sure that our children can communicate in English and hold their own
04:03anywhere in the world. You see, there is a difference kan between scoring A dalam ujian
04:10and the ability to speak. Scoring A itu academic English. That's just like a textbook
04:16boleh hafal, you know, and then you know the jawapan. But apa yang penting bagi kita
04:21Cambridge English for Life, for everybody who comes to our doors, bukan sahaja boleh hafal jawapan
04:27We want them to be able to have real English. Now, real English is tested in the real world
04:34Job interviews, scholarship interviews. So, we want our students to be able to not just demonstrate
04:42ada A, you know, mencapai A in a test, but to be able to use, to have that ability to
04:48speak in the language
04:49and to speak with confidence. So, itu yang penting. Itu ramai ibu bapa yang looking for.
04:57They, actually, ibu bapa, sometimes they don't know. They think to be able to speak in the accent,
05:05you know, dapat, sudahlah dapat accentnya, pelaknya, oh, that means you speak good English.
05:08but that's, it's just an accent, you see. So, but we want them to be able to look people in
05:14the eye,
05:15speak with confidence and not taku when they're speaking in public, you know.
05:50Okay. First, a child can score A, but when it comes to speaking, a child still can freeze.
05:55Now, that gap, itulah yang CEFL akan rapatkan.
06:00Okay. So, you say there are three skills.
06:02skills. The first skill, kita rasa the thinking and responding in real time.
06:08Bukan hafal japat, as I've said earlier.
06:11And two, we want them to be able to understand natural, native-paced speech.
06:18And three, the confidence to make mistakes in public and without shutting down.
06:24So what if you make a mistake?
06:25But because you're confident, you can self-prepare, you can elaborate what you're trying to say.
06:31So that is the real world layer that we are adding.
06:36The school's built foundation, CEFL, will add the real world layer.
06:41And we do it where it is complementary and it is not corrective.
07:13So, I won't talk about the others because we're in the world layer.
07:17We each have our own programs, our own mission, okay?
07:20But for CEFL, we want to teach English to our children in a way that don't just get them hired
07:28or get them A's.
07:30We teach them English in a way where, you know, their ability will decide how fast they get acceptance in
07:42the university,
07:43how fast they get acceptance at a job interview, you know, of that scholarship.
07:48So, and how fast they are promoted.
07:50Because, look, come on, English opens doors.
07:53I'm not saying other languages are not good, but I'm saying out here in this world,
07:59it's more around the minute they open their mouth.
08:01It is only that one common language that you use in the beginning, you know,
08:06to try to get some information, any kind of communication going.
08:10That's always English language, you see.
08:12So, that is what we want to do.
08:14So, to us, it's, we have seen graduates lose jobs because they lack,
08:20not because they lack qualifications, but because they couldn't perform in the interview room.
08:24They couldn't speak their mind or they choose to keep quiet because they cannot express themselves.
08:31They don't have the confidence or they are embarrassed about the way.
08:34Or they take a longer time to express what they want.
08:37We want to tell them that, yes, you can take your time,
08:40but if you learn from us, perhaps you will learn a lot more skills
08:43so that you are able to convey what you intend to and get your message across.
08:49Yeah, menarik sekali, Dr. Elsie.
09:23Yes, so for Malaysians, especially Malaysians, most of our parents or grandparents now,
09:30if I talk about my vintage, it will be my parents, my grandparents.
09:35Kita, we are familiar with senior Cambridge, kan, most of the time.
09:38So Cambridge is synonymous with good English and good quality education.
09:43but it's because not everyone can come to Cambridge.
09:46That's why CEFL, Cambridge English for Life, brings English, brings Cambridge to them.
09:52We are bringing Cambridge into Malaysia.
09:54We are bridging that gap.
09:57Not everyone has to come here if you want to learn good English
10:00and if you want to learn from people with experience,
10:03with 30 years experience that's more than a quarter of a century,
10:06hey, we are there, you know, we can actually help you cut course,
10:11we can actually give you what you're looking for
10:14and then the rest is up to you.
10:16Perhaps you have learnt so much from Cambridge English for Life,
10:19you want to see what Cambridge looks like.
10:22This university is what, almost a thousand years old.
10:26So it has so much goodwill, so much heritage
10:28and it's a beautiful place to be.
10:31It's just for a visit perhaps, you know.
10:34And who knows, most of our well-known students
10:38and well-known Malaysians have also set foot here in Cambridge itself.
10:44Ya, menarik sekali ya.
10:46Ya, tapi kita juga perlu bercakap tentang AI ya.
10:53Ya, yang mengambil tempat, pusat-pusat bahasa, pusat-pusat tuition
10:56dan sebagainya dalam pendidikan.
10:58Jadi, bagaimana kebahiran berbahasa Inggeris ini
11:03boleh menempatkan diri setanding
11:07untuk balanskan dengan AI yang ada sekarang?
11:11Okay.
11:12Now, AI must always be used as a tool to support only,
11:16to quicken the work that we want to do
11:19but it cannot replace what we are supposed to do.
11:22So, for example, if you have to answer your questions,
11:26do your thesis, do a, you have written your work
11:30but you just want it to be refined,
11:33you want a little research,
11:35then you can use AI
11:36but never ever use AI to write your work for you
11:39because then it is AI that's doing the work.
11:41It's not yours.
11:42You wouldn't know what it has said.
11:43It's not original.
11:44Yes.
11:45And AI being a program, a software,
11:47it can make mistakes.
11:50Sebagai penutupnya,
11:52apa antara harapan Dr. Elsie sendirilah
11:56untuk melihat generasi yang sudah dilahirkan oleh CEFL?
12:01Bagaimana Dr. Elsie mahu melihat mereka ini
12:04di dalam dunia pendidikan dan sebagainya?
12:08Okay.
12:09Now, 25 tahun kita sudah mantap di Malaysia.
12:13The milestone isn't how many students we have taught.
12:16it is how many no longer feel English is foreign to them.
12:22So, I want our students, our children,
12:25the parents' children, parents who believe in this,
12:27I want them to see that their children are able to
12:30walk into any room in the world,
12:33a university, a boardroom,
12:35and never once feel smaller because of how they speak.
12:40Not that they need to speak like any Cambridge graduate,
12:44but they should never feel like an outsider
12:48in their own future.
12:51The future belongs to them.
12:53So, grasp it.
12:53If it is just English language that is going to break the deal
12:57or English language that is going to seal the deal,
12:59hey, come on.
13:00Just learn that language and master it.
13:03Come to us.
13:03Okay.
13:15untuk kita bincangkan sama-sama,
13:17bincangkan mengenai pendidikan dan juga bahasa.
13:20Sekian daripada saya dari UK, Cambridge.
13:39Terima kasih kerana menonton!
