00:21When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and
00:28right, he will preserve his life. For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious
00:40of my sin. Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:51The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will
01:01not reject.
01:06Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and
01:13confess our many sins and wickedness. We should not justify nor hide them before the face of
01:20Almighty God our Heavenly Father, but confess them with a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient
01:28heart, to the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:39Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly
01:46when we assemble and meet together, to give thanks for the great benefits we have received
01:51at his hands, to give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those
02:00things which are truly necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:07Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart
02:13and humble voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:20Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:27We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:33We have offended against your holy laws.
02:36We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done.
02:41And we have done things which we ought not to have done.
02:45And so there is no health in us.
02:49But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:54Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:57Restore those who are truly penchant, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ
03:05Jesus our Lord.
03:07Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life,
03:15to the glory of your holy name.
03:19Amen.
03:22Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace,
03:28that they may be cleansed from all their sins and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:34Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
03:37Amen.
03:42Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:47Your kingdom come.
03:49Your will be done in earth as it is in heaven.
03:54Give us this day our daily bread.
03:57Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
04:04Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:09For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:15Amen.
04:19O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:27O God, make speed to save us.
04:31O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:37Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:43As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:49Amen.

05:10Yes, praise is pleasant and appropriate.
05:14The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem and gathers the exiles of Israel.
05:20He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.
05:25He counts the number of the stars.
05:27He names all of them.
05:30The Lord is great and has awesome power.
05:33There is no limit to his wisdom.
05:37The Lord lifts up the oppressed, but knocks the wicked to the groan.
05:44Offer to the Lord a song of thanks.

05:52He covers the sky with clouds, provides the earth with rain, and causes grass to grow on the hillsides.
06:00He gives food to the animals and to the young ravens when they chirp.
06:06He is not enamoured with the strength of a horse, nor is he impressed by the warrior's strong legs.
06:14The Lord takes delight in his faithful followers and in those who wait for his loyal love.
06:22Extol the Lord, O Jerusalem.
06:24Praise your God, O Zion.
06:27For he makes the bars of your gates strong.
06:31He blesses your children within you.
06:34He brings peace to your territory.
06:37He abundantly provides for you the best grain.
06:41He sends his command through the earth.
06:44Swiftly his order reaches its destination.
06:48He sends the snow that is white like wool.
06:52He spreads the frost that is white like ashes.
06:57He throws his hailstones like crumbs.
07:00Who can withstand the cold wind he sends?
07:04He then orders it all to melt.
07:07He breathes on it and the water flows.
07:10He proclaims his word to Jacob.
07:14His statutes and regulations to Israel.
07:18He has not done so with any other nation.
07:21They are not aware of his regulations.
07:24Praise the Lord.
07:27Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
07:31As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.

08:15For he gave the command, and they came into existence.
08:20He established them, so that they would endure.
08:23He issued a decree that will not be revoked.
08:29Praise the Lord from the earth, you sea creatures,
08:32and all you ocean depths.
08:34O fire and hail, snow and clouds.
08:37O stormy wind that carries out his orders.
08:40You mountains, and all you hills.
08:43You fruit trees, and all you cedars.
08:45You animals, and all you cattle.
08:49You creeping things and birds.

10:14He exalts the oppressed by delivering them.
10:18Let the godly rejoice because of their vindication.
10:21Let them shout for joy upon their beds.
10:24May the praises of God be in their mouths,
10:28and a two-edged sword in their hands,
10:31in order to take revenge on the nations and punish foreigners.
10:36They bind their kings in chains and their nobles in iron shackles,
10:42and execute the judgment to which the enemies have been sentenced.

12:10The Book of Wisdom. Chapter 8.
12:14She reaches from one end of the world to the other with full strength,
12:19ordering all things graciously.
12:23Her I loved and sought out from my youth.
12:26I sought to take her for my bride.
12:29I became enamoured of her beauty.
12:32She glorifies her noble birth in that it is given to her to live with God.
12:39The Sovereign Lord of all loved her, for she is initiated into the knowledge of God.
12:45She chooses out for him his works.
12:49But if riches are a desired possession in life, what is richer than wisdom, which works all things?
12:57If understanding works, who more than wisdom is an architect of the things that are?
13:04If a man loves righteousness, the fruit of wisdom's labour are virtues.
13:09For she teaches soberness and understanding, righteousness and courage.
13:15There is nothing in life for men more profitable than these.
13:21If a man longs even for much experience, she knows the things of old and divines the things to come.
13:29She understands subtleties of speeches and interpretations of dark sayings.
13:34She foresees signs and wonders and the issues of seasons and times.
13:40I am determined, therefore, to take her to me to live with me,
13:45knowing that she is one who would give me good thoughts for counsel, encouraging me in cares and grief.
13:53This is the word of the Lord.
13:56Thanks be to God.
14:10Mary said,
14:11My soul exalts the Lord,
14:14and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
14:18because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
14:24For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
14:28because he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
14:35From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
14:41He has demonstrated power with his arm.
14:45He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
14:51He has brought down the mighty from their thrones and has lifted up those of lowly position.
14:58He has filled the hungry with good things and has sent the rich away empty.
15:04He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy as he promised to our ancestors,
15:12to Abraham and to his descendants forever.
15:17Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
15:21as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
15:36The Gospel according to Saint Luke, chapters 20 and 21.
15:45Now some Sadducees, who contend that there is no resurrection, came to him.
15:50They asked him, Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies leaving a wife with no children,
15:59that man must marry the widow and father children for his brother.
16:05Now there were seven brothers.
16:06The first one married a woman and died without children.
16:10The second and then the third married her and in the same way all seven died, leaving no children.
16:18Finally the woman died too.
16:21In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will the woman be?
16:25For all seven had legally married her.
16:29So Jesus said to them, The people of this age marry and are given in marriage.
16:36But those who are regarded as worthy to share in that age and in the resurrection from the dead,
16:42neither marry nor are given in marriage.
16:46In fact they can no longer die because they are equal to angels and are sons of God,
16:52since they are the sons of the resurrection.
16:56But even Moses revealed that the dead are raised in the passage about the bush,
17:01where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.
17:07Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for all live before him.
17:15Then some of the experts in the law answered, Teacher, you have spoken well.
17:21For they did not dare ask him anything else.
17:25But Jesus said to them, How is it that they say that Christ is David's son?
17:31For David himself says in the book of Psalms,
17:35The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your
17:40feet.
17:42If David then calls him Lord, how can he be his son?
17:48As all the people were listening, Jesus turned to his disciples and said,
17:53Beware of the experts in the law.
17:55They like walking around in long robes, and they love elaborate greetings in the marketplaces,
18:02and the best seats in the synagogues, and the places of honour at banquets.
18:07They devour a widow's property, and as a show make long prayers.
18:13They will receive a more severe punishment.
18:18Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box.
18:24He also saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins.
18:29He said, I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put in more than all of them.
18:36For they all offered gifts out of their wealth, but she, out of her poverty, put in everything she had
18:44to live on.
18:46This is the word of the Lord.
18:49Thanks be to God.
18:59Now according to your word, Sovereign Lord, permit your servant to depart in peace.
19:06For my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
19:13a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.
19:21Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
19:25as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
19:32Amen.
19:37I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
19:43and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord,
19:46who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
19:55was crucified, dead, and buried.
19:58He descended into hell.
20:00On the third day he rose again from the dead.
20:04He ascended into heaven, and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
20:11From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
20:16I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints,
20:22the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
20:29Amen.
20:34The Lord be with you, and with your spirit.
20:41Let us pray.
20:45Lord, have mercy upon us.
20:48Christ, have mercy upon us.
20:53Lord, have mercy upon us.
20:59Lord, have mercy upon us.
21:10as it is in heaven.
21:12As it is in heaven.
21:13Give us this day our daily bread.
21:15Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
21:22Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
21:27For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.
21:34Amen
21:39O Lord, show your mercy upon us
21:43and grant us your salvation
21:48Protect and guide those in authority over us
21:53and mercifully hear us when we call upon you
21:58Endue your ministers with righteousness
22:02and make your chosen people joyful
22:07O Lord, save your people
22:11and bless your inheritance
22:15Give peace in our time, O Lord
22:19because there is none other who fights for us but only you, O God
22:26O God, make clean our hearts within us
22:30and take not your Holy Spirit from us
22:42Let us pray
22:45Grant we beseech you, merciful Lord
22:48To your faithful people, pardon and peace
22:52that they may be cleansed from all their sins
22:55and serve you with a quiet mind
22:59Through Jesus Christ, our Lord
23:02Amen
23:11O God, from whom all holy desires
23:16all good counsels and all just works proceed
23:20Give to your servants that peace
23:23which the world cannot give
23:25that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments
23:30and also that, by you, we, being defended from the fear of our enemies
23:36may pass our time in rest and quietness
23:40Through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Saviour
23:43Amen
23:49Light in our darkness we beseech you, O Lord
23:52and by your great mercy defend us all
23:55from perils and dangers of this night
23:59For the love of your only Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ
24:03Amen
24:08Almighty God, who has given us grace at this time with one accord
24:12to make our common supplications to you
24:16and promises that when two or three are gathered together in your name
24:20you will grant their requests
24:25Fulfill now, O Lord
24:26the desires and petitions of your servants
24:29as may be most beneficial for them
24:33granting us in this world
24:35knowledge of your truth
24:37and in the world to come
24:39life everlasting
24:42Amen
24:45With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
24:47and the love of God
24:49and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
24:51be with us all
24:54evermore
24:54Amen
