00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 69
05:00Deliver me, O God, for the water has reached my neck.
05:04I sink into the deep mire where there is no solid ground.
05:09I am in deep water, and the current overpowers me.
05:14I am exhausted from shouting for help.
05:17My throat is sore, and my eyes grow tired of looking for my God.
05:22Those who hate me without cause are more numerous than the hairs of my head.
05:28Those who want to destroy me, my enemies for no reason, outnumber me.
05:34They make me repay what I did not steal.
05:39O God, you are aware of my foolish sins.
05:42My guilt is not hidden from you.
05:45Let none who rely on you be disgraced because of me.
05:52O sovereign Lord of heaven's armies,
05:55let none who seek you be ashamed because of me, O God of Israel.
06:01For I suffer humiliation for your sake and am thoroughly disgraced.
06:07My own brothers treat me like a stranger.
06:10They act as if I were a foreigner.
06:13Certainly zeal for your house consumes me.
06:17I endure the insults of those who insult you.
06:22I weep and refrain from eating food, which causes others to insult me.
06:28I wear sackcloth and they ridicule me.
06:32Those who sit at the city gate gossip about me.
06:37Drunkards mock me in their songs.
06:41O Lord, may you hear my prayer and be favourably disposed to me.
06:46O God, because of your great loyal love, answer me with your deliverance.
06:53Rescue me from the mud.
06:55Do not let me sink.
06:56Deliver me from those who hate me from the deep water.
07:01Do not let the current overpower me.
07:04Do not let the deep swallow me up.
07:06Do not let the pit devour me.
07:10Answer me, O Lord, for your loyal love is good.
07:13Because of your great compassion, turn toward me.
07:18Do not ignore your servant.
07:20For I am in trouble.
07:22Answer me right away.
07:24Come near and redeem me.
07:26Because of my enemies, rescue me.
07:31You know how I am insulted, humiliated and disgraced.
07:36You can see all my enemies.
07:39Their insults are painful and make me lose heart.
07:43And look for sympathy, but receive none.
07:46For comfort us, but find none.
07:50They put bitter poison in my food.
07:53And to quench my thirst, they give me vinegar to drink.
07:57May their dining table become a trap before them.
08:01May it be a snare for that group of friends.
08:05May their eyes be blinded.
08:08Make them shake violently.
08:11Pour out judgment on them.
08:13May your raging anger overtake them.
08:15May their camp become desolate, their tents uninhabited.
08:21For they harass the one whom you discipline.
08:24They spread the news about the suffering of those whom you punish.
08:29Hold them accountable for their sins.
08:31Do not vindicate them.
08:34May their names be deleted from the scroll of the living.
08:37Do not let their names be listed with the godly.
08:42I am oppressed and suffering.
08:44O God, deliver and protect me.
08:47I will sing praises to God's name.
08:49I will magnify him as I give thanks.
08:53That will please the Lord more than an ox or a bull with horns and hooves.
09:00The oppressed look on.
09:01Let them rejoice.
09:02You who seek God, may you be encouraged.
09:05For the Lord listens to the needy.
09:08He does not despise his captive people.
09:12Let the heavens and the earth praise him,
09:14along with the seas and everything that swims in them.
09:18For God will deliver Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah,
09:22and his people will live again in them and possess Zion.
09:28The descendants of all his servants will inherit it,
09:32and those who are loyal to him will live in it.
09:37Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
09:40as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
09:45world without end.
09:47Amen.
09:51Psalm 70
09:54O God, please be willing to rescue me.
09:57O Lord, hurry and help me.
10:01May those who are trying to take my life be embarrassed and ashamed.
10:05May those who want to harm me be turned back and ashamed.
10:11May those who say,
10:12Aha! Aha!
10:13Be driven back and disgraced.
10:17May all those who seek you be happy and rejoice in you.
10:21May those who love to experience your deliverance say continually.
10:26May God be praised.
10:29I am oppressed and needy.
10:32O God, hurry to me,
10:34for you are my helper and my deliverer.
10:37O Lord, do not delay.
10:41Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
10:45as it was in the beginning,
10:47is now and ever shall be,
10:50world without end.
10:52Amen.
10:58The prophet Zephaniah chapter 1
11:03This is Yahweh's word which came to Zephaniah the son of Cushi,
11:08the son of Jedaliah,
11:10the son of Amariah,
11:11the son of Hezekiah.
11:13In the days of Josiah,
11:15the son of Ammon,
11:17king of Judah.
11:19I will utterly sweep away everything from the surface of the earth,
11:24says Yahweh.
11:25I will sweep away man and animal.
11:28I will sweep away the birds of the sky,
11:31the fish of the sea,
11:32and the heaps of rubble with the wicked.
11:35I will cut off man from the surface of the earth,
11:39says Yahweh.
11:40I will stretch out my hand against Judah
11:43and against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
11:47I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place,
11:51the name of the idolatrous and pagan priests,
11:55those who worship the army of the sky on the hostops,
11:58those who worship and swear by Yahweh
12:01and also swear by Malcham,
12:04those who have turned back from following Yahweh,
12:08and those who haven't sought Yahweh
12:11or inquired after him.
12:14Be silent at the presence of the Lord Yahweh,
12:17for the day of Yahweh is at hand.
12:20For Yahweh has prepared a sacrifice.
12:23He has consecrated his guests.
12:26It will happen in the day of Yahweh's sacrifice
12:29that I will punish the princes,
12:31the king's sons,
12:32and all those who are clothed with foreign clothing.
12:36In that day I will punish all those
12:38who leap over the threshold,
12:40who fill their master's house with violence and deceit.
12:45In that day, says Yahweh,
12:46there will be the noise of a cry from the fish gate,
12:49a wailing from the second quarter,
12:51and a great crashing from the hills.
12:55Wail, you inhabitants of Maktesh,
12:57for all the people of Canaan are undone.
13:00All those who are loaded with silver will be cut off.
13:04It will happen at that time
13:06that I will search Jerusalem with lamps,
13:09and I will punish the men who are settled on their dregs,
13:12who say in their heart,
13:14Yahweh will not do good,
13:16neither will he do evil.
13:18Their wealth will become plunder
13:20and their houses desolation.
13:23Yes, they will build houses,
13:25but they will not live in them.
13:27They will plant vineyards,
13:29but they won't drink their wine.
13:31The great day of Yahweh is near.
13:34It is near and hurries greatly.
13:36The voice of the day of Yahweh,
13:38the mighty man, cries there bitterly.
13:43This is the word of the Lord.
13:46Thanks be to God.
14:00Mary said,
14:01My soul exalts the Lord,
14:04and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
14:08because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
14:14For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
14:18because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
14:22and holy is his name.
14:25From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
14:31He has demonstrated power with his arm.
14:35He has scattered those whose pride wells up
14:38from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
14:41He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
14:44and has lifted up those of lowly position.
14:48He has filled the hungry with good things,
14:51and has sent the rich away empty.
14:54He has helped his servant Israel,
14:57remembering his mercy,
14:59as he promised to our ancestors,
15:02to Abraham and to his descendants forever.
15:07Glory be to the Father,
15:09and to the Son,
15:10and to the Holy Spirit,
15:11as it was in the beginning,
15:14is now and ever shall be,
15:16world without end.
15:18Amen.
15:24The Gospel according to St. Luke,
15:27chapter 11.
15:30Now Jesus was praying in a certain place,
15:34and when he stopped,
15:35one of the disciples asked him,
15:37Lord, teach us how to pray,
15:40just as John taught his disciples.
15:43And so Jesus said to them,
15:45When you pray, say,
15:48Father, may your name be honoured,
15:50may your kingdom come.
15:52Give us each day our daily bread,
15:55and forgive us our sins,
15:58for we also forgive everyone who sins against us,
16:03and do not let us fall into temptation.
16:07Then he said to them,
16:09Suppose one of you has a friend,
16:11and you go to him at midnight,
16:12and say to him,
16:14Friend,
16:15lend me three loaves of bread,
16:16because a friend has just stopped here,
16:18while on a journey,
16:19and I have nothing to set before him.
16:22He will reply to you from inside,
16:25Do not bother me,
16:27for the door is already shut,
16:28and my children and I are in bed.
16:31I cannot get up and give you anything.
16:36I tell you,
16:36even though the man inside will not get up,
16:39I'll give him anything,
16:40because he is his friend,
16:43yet because of the first man's persistence,
16:46he will eventually get up,
16:48and give him whatever he needs.
16:51And so I tell you,
16:52ask,
16:52and it will be given to you,
16:54seek,
16:54and you will find,
16:56knock,
16:57and the door will be opened for you.
16:59For everyone who asks,
17:01receives,
17:02and the one who seeks,
17:03finds,
17:04and the one who knocks,
17:05has the door opened to him.
17:09What father among you,
17:11if your son were to ask for a fish,
17:14would give him a snake,
17:15instead of a fish?
17:16Or if he asked for an egg,
17:18would give him a scorpion?
17:21If then you,
17:22who are evil,
17:23know how to give good gifts to your children,
17:26how much more will the heavenly father
17:28give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?
17:34Now he was casting out a demon that was mute.
17:38When the demon had gone out,
17:39the man who had been mute began to speak,
17:42and the crowds were amazed,
17:44but some of them said,
17:46It is by the power of Beelzebul,
17:48the ruler of demons,
17:49that he casts out demons.
17:52Others, to test him,
17:54asked for a sign from heaven.
17:57But Jesus,
17:58realising their thoughts,
18:00said to them,
18:00Every kingdom that is divided against itself
18:04is destroyed,
18:06and the divided household will fall.
18:09So if Satan too is divided against himself,
18:12how can his kingdom stand?
18:15I ask you this,
18:16because you claim that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.
18:21Now if I cast out demons by Beelzebul,
18:24by whom do your sons cast them out?
18:28Therefore they will be your judges.
18:31But if I cast out demons by the finger of God,
18:34then the kingdom of God has already overtaken you.
18:39When a strong man, fully armed,
18:42guards his own palace,
18:43his positions are safe.
18:45But if a stronger man attacks and conquers him,
18:49he will take away the first man's armour,
18:51on which the man relied,
18:53and then divide up his plunder.
18:56Whoever is not with me is against me,
18:58and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
19:04When an unclean spirit goes out of a person,
19:08it passes through the waterless places looking for rest,
19:12but does not find any.
19:13And then it says,
19:16I will return to the home I left.
19:18And when it returns,
19:20it finds the house swept clean and put in order.
19:24Then it goes,
19:25and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself.
19:29And they go in and live there,
19:32so that the last state of that person
19:34is even worse than the first.
19:39As Jesus said these things,
19:41a woman in the crowd spoke out to him,
19:45Blessed is the womb that bore you
19:47on the breasts at which you were nursed.
19:51But he replied,
19:53Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God
19:56and obey it.
19:59This is the word of the Lord.
20:02Thanks be to God.
20:14Now according to your word,
20:17Sovereign Lord,
20:18permit your servant to depart in peace.
20:21For my eyes have seen your salvation
20:24that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
20:29a light for revelation to the Gentiles
20:32and for glory to your people Israel.
20:37Glory be to the Father
20:39and to the Son
20:40and to the Holy Spirit
20:41as it was in the beginning,
20:43is now and ever shall be
20:45world without end.
20:48Amen.
20:53I believe in God the Father Almighty,
20:56maker of heaven and earth,
20:58and in Jesus Christ,
21:00his only Son, our Lord,
21:02who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
21:05born of the Virgin Mary,
21:07suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
21:10who was crucified,
21:12dead and buried,
21:14he descended into hell.
21:16On the third day he rose again from the dead.
21:20He ascended into heaven
21:22and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
21:27From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
21:31I believe in the Holy Spirit,
21:34the Holy Catholic Church,
21:36the communion of saints,
21:37the forgiveness of sins,
21:40the resurrection of the body
21:42and the life everlasting.
21:44Amen.
21:50The Lord be with you
21:53and with your spirit.
21:57Let us pray.
22:00Lord have mercy upon us.
22:04Christ have mercy upon us.
22:08Lord have mercy upon us.
22:15Our Father who is in heaven,
22:18holy is your name.
22:21May your kingdom come.
22:23May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
22:28Give us this day our daily bread.
22:31Forgive us our trespasses
22:32as we forgive those who trespass against us.
22:37Lead us not into temptation,
22:39but deliver us from evil.
22:42For yours is the kingdom.
22:45The power and the glory
22:47for ever and ever.
22:50Amen.
22:55O Lord, show your mercy upon us
22:57and grant us your salvation.
23:03Protect and guide those in authority over us
23:08and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
23:14Endure your ministers with righteousness
23:16and make your chosen people joyful.
23:23O Lord, save your people
23:26and bless your inheritance.
23:31Give peace in our time, O Lord,
23:35because there is none other who fights for us
23:37but only you, O God.
23:41O God, make clean our hearts within us
23:46and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
23:57Let us pray.
24:00O God, for as much as without you
24:03we are not able to please you.
24:06Mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit
24:08may in all things direct and rule our hearts
24:13through Jesus Christ our Lord.
24:16Amen.
24:17Amen.
24:25O God, from whom all holy desires
24:29all good counsels and all just works proceed
24:33give to your servants that peace
24:36which the world cannot give
24:38that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments
24:42and also that by you
24:45we, being defended from the fear of our enemies
24:49may pass our time in rest and quietness
24:52through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour.
24:57Amen.
25:02Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord
25:05and by your great mercy defend us all
25:08from perils and dangers of this night.
25:12For the love of your only Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
25:17Amen.
25:21Almighty God, who has given us grace
25:24at this time with one accord
25:26to make our common supplications to you
25:29and promises that when two or three
25:32are gathered together in your name
25:33you will grant their requests.
25:38Fulfill now, O Lord
25:39the desires and petitions of your servants
25:42as may be most beneficial for them
25:47granting us in this world
25:49knowledge of your truth
25:50and in the world to come
25:53life everlasting.
25:55Amen.
25:58With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
26:01and the love of God
26:02and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
26:04be with us all evermore.
26:08Amen.
