00:58clicks and wheezes but what i do know though is that the star ace ray harryhausen clash of the titans
01:03bubo is slated to actually start flying out january 2027 the price online 75 and 99 cents big thank you
01:12to the folks over at star ace that were kind enough to provide this early sample let's get things
01:16underway by grabbing my trusty tape measure the tape measure does not click and wheeze by the way
01:21so it's a lot easier to understand what i do seem to understand is that the figure of bubo stands
01:26about
01:26six and a half inches he stands also about 16 centimeters tall along with bubo you get yourself
01:33not an instruction booklet but rather an instruction sheet just to show you though the two different ways
01:38that you can pose the bird for starters it does have a rotating head it does also have fanned out
01:43wings
01:43that we'll look at more in a moment let's put the pamphlet to the side here for a second the
01:48figure
01:48does also come included with quite the very nice decorative base what i find is funny is if you pick
01:53up to the two both the bird and the base you'll find that the base feels heavier now on the
01:58bottom
01:59of the base it does say ray harryhausen bubo defo style figure and of course it's produced with the
02:04permissions of the ray harryhausen foundation and the folks producing it at star ace the base itself i feel
02:11could have metal in it although it doesn't feel like it's necessarily cool to the touch it does
02:15have though some really nice sculpt work in there of course it does also have bubo and ray harryhausen
02:19just in case you forget the name of the bird it doesn't really necessarily attach by magnets so when
02:25you go to put the bird on it necessarily there really isn't something that clasps with its talons
02:30onto the base i would have loved had there been a way maybe they could have incorporated especially
02:35like right here these two points underneath the bird's claws i think would have also been ideal
02:41places to put magnets so if you wanted to and attached onto the display base i'm also really
02:45thinking too if you happen to have this on the shelf and it happens to bang having it be at
02:50least
02:50attached to the display base via magnets would make a little more secure stable fate stable way for the
02:56bird to stand upright moving the base off to the side let's get now a closer look at bubo if
03:02you are
03:02again a fan of the original 80s film i like clash of the titans the original film i wasn't as
03:06much of
03:07a fan of the remakes now of course in the uh the original film we get this mechanized bird and
03:13i gotta
03:14say like they've really done a nice job on this most of this has been captured clearly with a use
03:19of a
03:20gold and a silver but again like looking at the sculpting of all the feathers for example there's a nice
03:24like layered effect that they've done now again there's not much weight really in this bird itself
03:30but i feel like even if it doesn't have as much weight it more than makes up for it in
03:34the sculpting
03:35alone has the ruby stoned eyes there on the front these would more in the movie actually rotate they
03:41don't rotate however though you can take the bird's head and turn it um we'll kind of talk more about
03:46the posability i guess well i guess there's really not much to cover necessarily the bird's head for all
03:52intents and purposes could really rotate all the way around now a normal bird you really wouldn't want
03:57to do that because it would kill the bird instantly but if being that this is a robotic bird you
04:01might
04:01be able to get away with that again the face just looks as iconic as the bird did in the
04:06film
04:06it was one thing that's also interesting about this bird is that the the owl does also have
04:11articulation in its wings the way that they've actually devised it there's a hinge on the inside
04:16and it looks like it's using a ball joint so because that you can move the wing back and forth
04:22only just a little bit but you can also fan the wings outward now i find i have an easier
04:28time
04:28to bring the wing out this side than i do on this side i don't know if it is the
04:32case that
04:33i'm looking at both sides here like they've just allotted just this much space i mean there's very
04:38little space actually for the wing to fan out i can't think that maybe there could be one way that
04:44they could have done differently here they if they had only trimmed the feathers back just a little bit
04:48here on the top because it doesn't leave really much space for the wing to fan out i mean right
04:54right again here i can move this wing out a little bit easier on this side than i can on
04:58this side and
04:59i think maybe it could be because that feather see these feathers from the bottom of the head
05:03play real close in quarters to the top of the wing i can't really bring the wing any more than
05:09that
05:09i'm sure there must be a way that the wings can actually move further out from this because again
05:13like it does seem like this side does it the only problem with that though is you don't really know
05:17how much tolerances you have the last thing i really would want to have is for the wing to break
05:22off it doesn't look like i mean even if it was to really come off it looks like really there's
05:28a ball
05:28joint right there or maybe yeah it looks like it's been pegged in place because again a wing can move
05:33outward it's the only thing i would have really done differently here with again bubo is just trimmed
05:37back the feather right here and made just enough space on this side so the wing actually in fact could
05:43move further out than what it does right now there is also technically possibility here uh with the
05:49talons if again you want to you know you can turn these only just a little bit i find actually
05:53this
05:54one moves a little easier than this side but i don't think it necessarily needs to have much
05:58possibility down below here considering it does already have it in the head and it does have it in
06:02the wings again the only thing i worry really about is like how much far how far out can i
06:07really move
06:07those wings like right there it feels like that's as far out as those wings will go again i don't
06:14know
06:14maybe i say this already maybe if they had just only made this a little higher just made enough of
06:20a
06:20space between the two you might be in fact able to move the wings further out than that now this
06:25one
06:25again is selling well right now it's a pre-order on online sites that generally are stocking star
06:30ace figures this one's selling for 75 in addition to that though they've actually got a whole bunch of
06:36different buboes available ones that are a little bit more elaborate ones are a little bit also
06:40heavier as well they've done like also the patina deluxe editions where you've had like wing out
06:45versions wing in versions but if you want the more affordable route of getting a bubo for your shelf
06:49especially if you're a big fan of the original ray harry housing clash of the titans this would
06:53certainly be the more affordable route to go as it's certainly the cheaper of the options that they
06:57made available while i wouldn't be able to lead you to the shrine and even if i did there'd be
07:01no way at
07:02all i don't have the wingspan to carry you all at once i can at least lead you
07:06into the direction if you're looking to get one of these for yourself online sites just as the
07:10example big bad toy store has the listing right now for the ray harryhausen bubo from clash of the
07:15titans the defo style release of him is going to start to fly out january 2027 so you have a
07:20couple
07:20of months to start saving up plus two with the defo style he's more of the affordable price he sits

07:26little over 75 now if you did want the more elaborate routes don't worry star ace got you covered as

07:31they are also releasing a clash of the titans ray harryhausen 100th anniversary bubo in a gold
07:37patina both in the normal edition and the wingspan wide edition as well those are going to be more
07:43closer well they're going to be over 300 one of them is around 309 i think there's also going to
07:48be
07:48doing releasing a 100th anniversary patina edition with the deluxe wings and that's going to be selling
07:53for 35.99 those are also going to be shipping out not yet though but closer in time if you're
07:59looking
08:00at the calendar they're actually going to start to ship november 2026 so again if you're a big fan of
08:04clash of the titans star ace has you covered i do like this one for for two things first of
08:10all i
08:10mean one thing is it just takes up a little less space on the shelf if you just don't have
08:14the
08:14space to accommodate the larger scale replicas this one's going to do a better job for that at least
08:18for the sizing and also too for the price of the budget if you don't have as much of a
08:22budget to work
08:23with the defo style at least releases of them they're a little squatter in size but at least they might
08:28still get you covered when it comes to a replica i do like this one has posability in the head

08:32that the wings do fan out the wings don't as fan out as well as i would have hoped i
08:38think also too
08:38one thing that they probably could have incorporated is magnets on the bottoms of his talons just so
08:43that he could have securely attached the display base because it does seem though that the display
08:47base is made of metal metal i'm not sure though why they just didn't put magnets on the bottoms of
