00:00How nice is it to have that weapon in your bag this year and how helpful was it for you
00:03playing a PGA Tour a year with that driver being so solid?
00:09Yeah, it was very nice. And honestly, I don't know, maybe a little unexpected.
00:14Like I knew I was a pretty good driver of the ball.
00:18But when you're playing on the America's Tour or in college, you don't it's hard to quantify like, you know,
00:24how good it is.
00:26But then you see the strokes gained data and I was kind of like, holy smokes, you know, maybe like
00:31maybe it is really that good.
00:35And yeah, I hit two really big drives on 17 and 18 in Japan.
00:38They were kind of tighter driving holes, 18 in particular.
00:42And my caddy has a lot of trust in my driver as well.
00:45We were kind of they moved the box up on 18 on Sunday and it's a bit of an awkward
00:50tee shot.
00:51There's a hazard on the right, some bunkers and trees on the left, and you could hit it like a
00:56seven wood, three iron type and stay short of the hazard.
00:59But then you'd have, I don't know, seven iron into the kind of a weird, awkward green or just try
01:05to, you know, hit driver and fit it in there a little bit.
01:08And Ollie was like, dude, you're a great driver of the ball, like send it, you know, and I had
01:16like a little chippy gap wedge in the last.
01:17So it's definitely a really nice weapon to be able to rely on in situations like that.
01:24What did you see out of your game at the major championships?
01:26You were one of the few guys that made all the cuts and all the majors this year to get
01:30to play.
01:31And what I think most players would deem the weeks you try to peak for, of course, we're playing at
01:37a lot of different venues at all these majors, except Augusta National.
01:42What did you learn about your game and all the different places that they go play for these majors?
01:46Yeah, it was cool.
01:48I mean, it was awesome to make all the cuts.
01:50I'm pretty sure I finished last of the people who did make all the cuts in relation to the par.
01:57That is true.
01:59So, like, I had pretty decent Thursday, Fridays.
02:01I didn't really have great weekends.
02:03The Masters was my best weekend that I had.
02:08It's cool.
02:09I mean, the majors are, it's a bit of a different feel.
02:12Everyone just feels like it's a little grindier.
02:18It's not the week where guys are messing around with equipment or, you know, they're trying to be prepared for
02:23those weeks.
02:24And so it's a cool, really cool environment because you feel like you're getting everybody when they're trying to be
02:30their best.
02:34And, I mean, the different venues, the venues this year I thought were unbelievable.
02:38It was a good year.
02:39Yeah.
02:41Next year, going to Pebble, like, that's unbelievable as well.
02:45The old course, St. Andrews for the Open.
02:47And, like, it's just, it's really cool to be able to go to these historic places and play tournament golf.
02:54And, I mean, I feel so fortunate that I was able to do that.
02:59But your game just has to be sharp in the majors.
03:01Like, the courses are a little bit, they just have a little bit more of an edge to them.
03:04And you're going to get punished by, you know, maybe you hit a decent shot that just rolls off a
03:13false edge or something.
03:14Shinnecock, there were a million of them.
03:17Right.
03:18I putted the ball off the green more than once.
03:22I think twice.
03:23I remember you doing it on the third hole because I was watching that morning.
03:28I was like, well, that ball needs to sit.
03:29I think it was the front right hole location.
03:31I was straight in the bunker, right?
03:33Oh, yeah.
03:35I think I was playing with Jordan on Sunday.
03:38Is that what it was?
03:39Okay.
03:39And I think I putted the ball off the green twice on playing with him.
03:44One on the third hole and the 14th hole.
03:46It's like a back left pin.
03:47And I had, like, a 60-footer.
03:49I was on the front of the green.
03:51Yep.
03:51And I putted it off the green.
03:52But it's straight off the back.
03:54Yep.
03:55And I was like, oh, my goodness.
03:57It was definitely not the highlight of the year.
04:00But, like, stuff like that just, I think,
04:03I think that's probably going to be a good experience for me.
04:05Hopefully, I don't think I've de-greened a putt the rest of the season,
04:08which is a win.
04:09There you go.
04:10That's a positive.
04:11And so, hopefully, next year at Pebble.
04:13Honestly, Pebble, it'd be hard to de-green a putt at Pebble.
04:16They don't really have quite the edges like they did at Shinnecock.
04:21Yeah, it just depends on the win comes in.
04:23Those greens get pretty baked and fast sometimes at the time of the year.
04:26So, we'll have to see.
04:28We definitely don't want to be de-greening any putts.
04:30We don't want to see that anymore.
04:31No.
04:32I don't know if Jordan liked watching that.
04:34Yeah.
04:34Yeah.
