00:07It's a huge deal that a company would say guaranteed for life.
00:10There aren't many things just in general in the world that you say that.
00:16We use very heavy leather, we use very heavy threads.
00:20We don't settle for sewing it just once, we'll sew it twice.
00:23The product was made back in 1897 in Seattle and we've continued that tradition so that's
00:30one of our guiding principles.
00:37Made in America has been a passion of mine for a long time.
00:40It's a challenge for a manufacturer or a brand to really stand behind it.
00:45I think it's really great to be employing so many people in an area like Seattle that
00:51a lot of other people have left.
00:54A big thing for Filson that we've said is that when everyone else started shipping things
01:00off to be made overseas, we bought another factory in the U.S. and we are stubbornly continuing
01:07to make things here.
01:08I get excited when I see our product out on the floor or out and about in the city because
01:15I know the hands who made them.
01:18I can tell you who put those snaps on there and who put those buttonholes on there.
01:23These amazing sewers and seamstresses put together these garments and bags just so fast and do
01:30it so good every time.
01:31It really inspired me to kind of have my own little spin on like what's being made.
01:36Early part of last year there was an idea to refurbish the bags and why not repair them
01:42and do it in such a way that you're bringing that bag back to its original quality.
01:46It would be cool if every customer could just write me a little note being like, hey Evan,
01:52this bag came from my grandfather.
01:54You know, he was really cool or something like that.
01:57It's absolutely fantastic to be able to see a product go from a raw material, a hide of
02:03leather or a roll of fabric or a box of snaps and you turn it into a jacket that's going
02:09to
02:09protect somebody in the harshest of environments for a lifetime essentially.
02:13We began as an American brand making product in Seattle and that's what we want to continue
02:19to do.
02:20It's good for the community, it's good socially, it's offering more jobs.
02:24We just feel it's the right thing for the brand.
