02:16campbell they lose jimmy rolder a couple of other injuries break down the nfc north for us
02:24well uh it's the best division in football and i don't think it's even close at this point
02:30so i don't know if you're the type of person that takes pride in that that's a really good thing
02:36although you know that's really only like an sec thing like can you imagine can you imagine one of
02:41these games the lions losing to the packers and the crowd starting to chant nfc north right i mean that
02:50would never happen i think right now the best team in the nfc north is the chicago bears uh with
02:58the
02:58addition of jeffrey simmons that is a difference making player he is the best defense to tackle in
03:04the nfl i happen to think that that's the second most important position after quarterback and so
03:11the bears recognize they have caleb williams and other guys colson loveland luther burden a bunch of
03:17guys on rookie contracts so they're going for it i respect it i would do the same thing if i
03:24were them
03:24uh you know so i think it bears one and i think the other three are all battling to be
03:31in that next
03:32spot the packers are getting micah parsons back that will really help obviously the lions have been
03:38much better on defense the last couple weeks that gives them a chance and the viking defense is still
03:44awesome they're just trying to figure out what's happening at quarterback i know there's some people
03:49that think they should try to trade for kirk cousins i tend to doubt that will happen i do think
03:54it'll be carson wentz monday night against buffalo that's a big one that's a good one for you guys
04:00have a rooting interest and root for the bills on monday night tuesday's the trade deadline what's the
04:05lions biggest need and how should they approach it well you know right now based on what happened in
04:15this glass game it it might be linebacker you know i mean i think it's you know earlier in the
04:20season i
04:21certainly would have said secondary and they could certainly still add there um there's never a team
04:27i've never met a guy that said we have enough quality d lineman for our rotation although i feel pretty
04:34decent about the lions i think um first of all it's good that they still have rodriguez there and some
04:41other
04:42guys but um they can't really go wrong at any of those spots but if they could bring in a
04:49linebacker
04:49that um could give them you know something close to what jack was giving them that would be that would
04:57be massive i don't know i've only looked at the market to see how many off-ball quality linebackers
05:03there are but i would think that there'd be guys that they might like better than some of the other
05:08guys that i know rodriguez has been there and trevor nawas like i i know those guys have been there
05:13but
05:13you might be able to upgrade there well ross let's just cut to the chase your eagles are bad they've

05:18six in a row can we get zach bond how do we make that happen i think that would be

05:25because i mean that he's fantastic that would be incredible if you guys could get him i think that
05:32the eagles look at him as part of the solution for next year i think that they would be willing
05:38to give you guys reek woolen you want reek woolen a corner we've talked about him could be a good

05:43corner for you guys they're pretty good so what do we got to give you ability what do we got

05:47you for reek i think they'd be happy just to get picks yeah i think that they're at this point
05:54yeah i think they'd bet well it depends on what they think you would get as a comp pick
05:59you know somebody's going to sign reek woolen to be a starting corner so what type of comp pick
06:05they'd probably get a sixth as a comp pick in 2028 so you might have to give them a fifth
06:10for the rest
06:11of this year but the flip side of that is then you'll probably get a comp pick for a six

06:17pick when you let them go after the year sounds good to me yeah uh so i do want to

06:25in regards to this division the lions with the injuries that they had how big of an impact if
06:33they don't add is this just because we've seen as you mentioned jeffrey simmons and we saw seattle uh
06:39at an offensive lineman we've seen san francisco these are all teams in the nfc that have gone for it
06:45are the lions in a position where they have to add in the in on defense
06:52really good question i think i wouldn't say they have to but i would say there's an arms race going
07:00on in the nfc and you're either in it or you're not you know and part of it started with
07:09the rams
07:09when they went after miles garrett and then brought back aaron donald and we'll see if the rams can
07:15battle back it's kind of fascinating by the way because the nfc north is going to get three
07:20playoff teams that means either the seahawks or the rams are not going to make the playoffs
07:25and i thought they were clearly the two best teams last year clearly i thought whoever won that game
07:31would win the super bowl um and they did but only one of them is going to make the playoffs
07:36so it really you know even in the nfc north to get over the hump i think it would really
07:44help
07:45if the lions could add one more piece whether that's someone in the secondary you know it's
07:51probably not a great sign and we're just being honest here from a lion's perspective that they
07:58could add at all three levels of the defense and i know they've been playing better on that side of
08:03the ball and that's good but if you're asking me where can they add and i can say well they
08:08could
08:08add a corner they could add a linebacker that the linebackers a lot because of the jack injuries
08:12that's a little bit of a different situation and d line i don't think they need somebody
08:16but like i said earlier you can never have too many guys look at the super bowl the last couple
08:22years it's two teams that basically had eight starting d lineman the seahawks last year the
08:28eagles the year before that that just totally dominated through the playoffs talking to ross tucker
08:33nfl insider presented by nationwide we keep alluding to jack campbell we did get an update on him
08:38yesterday that he does have movement in his lower body and he is improving and getting more movement
08:44in the upper body it was a scary moment for everybody i talked to john about had he ever had
08:49an experience like that with a teammate i'm curious ross your reaction to seeing that go down and if if
08:54you've ever experienced something like that with guys you played with well uh it's the scariest thing
09:02for every nfl player it's the thing i would pray about before every game you know heck there was
09:08a couple years i was on the wedge on kickoff return in fact that is what ended my career
09:14uh jim i was on with john again in 07 in washington and i was trying to make the team
09:22we're playing the ravens in the preseason on a four-man wedge i nailed this linebacker i think
09:29he was a michigan kid prescott burgess maybe yeah does that name sound familiar oh yeah um i i nailed
09:35him he got a concussion and like separated shoulder i was john you probably don't even know this i i
09:42was
09:42like yeah and my whole left arm went numb i was gonna play the second half at center and i
09:50thought i
09:50just got a really bad stinger this is how crazy this is it ends up lightning we go in we
09:57come back out
09:57again lightning again jim they canceled the second half wow i had told him about my bad stinger
10:06then i get uh an mri and they do tests with my fingers and toes i herniated my c5 c6
10:15and bruised
10:17my spinal cord holy i was gonna try to play the second like i didn't know i thought it was
10:21a really bad
10:22stinger i was gonna try to play the second half of a preseason game with a bruised spinal cord so
10:29i'm
10:29not gonna go so far to say like you know uh religious and the lightning or whatever but i i
10:35will say
10:36i benefited greatly from that game being canceled and the lightning and me not trying to play the
10:43second half with a bruised spinal cord like an idiot so uh yes i very much um you know my
10:51my
10:51situation was not like jack's but that's something that is extremely extremely concerning and that that's
10:58the thing you worry about every game we we asked you about you know rick woolen zach bond some of
11:05the
11:05guys and we've already seen philly um you know sell some pieces is nick sirianni back next year
11:12i think it depends on how the rest of this year goes the fact that he's already turning to joe
11:19milton
11:19in this game against the giants on sunday that feels to me like okay they're two and six giants are
11:29in
11:29first place it feels to me like a last-ditch effort to save the season hey if we win we
11:37get to three and
11:38six and we give the giants a loss i think it depends on how the rest of the year goes
11:43but
11:43it's really hard to imagine them bringing back the offensive coordinator and so then you have to ask
11:49yourself if you're the eagles organization are we going to let sirianni pick yet another
11:55offensive coordinator and just how ugly is it how bad is it the rest of the year it's crazy because
12:02he's a really good football coach you know i mean like i know they've had a really good roster you
12:07can't win i mean in the first five years they go into playoffs all five years three division titles
12:13two super bowls one one no other coach has ever done that so he's a certified good coach but the
12:19eagles have shown with doug peterson with andy reed when they think it's gone bad and they think the
12:26message is stale they think they are not afraid to make a change it's ross tucker we're actually

12:43spot for the lions do not feel comfortable at all they're coming off a monster win they're actually
12:51coming off two home division wins in a row now they got to play a team everybody stinks thinks they
12:58stink they're competitive and you know uh you'll wonder just how locked in the lions are you know it
13:07would be unnatural if they weren't thinking about their teammate jack campbell and concerned about him
13:14and his well-being this is a very dangerous game for the lions as i said on the even money
