00:00 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:02 We flip through Mets Red Sox here,
00:05 as the New York Mets have themselves a solid series
00:08 overall against the Chicago White Sox.
00:10 But the Mets need a lot more than solid
00:14 if they are going to truly make a dent.
00:17 And Boston is not but a team that is an easy out.
00:21 At Fenway Park, though, this is a tight number.
00:24 The Mets are certainly getting some respect here, Donnie.
00:27 This totals big time as well.
00:29 It's 9 and 1/2.
00:30 Yeah.
00:31 By the way, if you're taking a look at matching up,
00:32 Kodai Senga coming over here, one
00:34 of those international sensations,
00:35 struggled a little bit here to start the season.
00:38 But my goodness, if you check the statistics now, Kevin,
00:40 over the past month, 75 batters he's faced,
00:42 he's been electric, an 090 ISO power number,
00:45 and a weighted on base percentage of 262
00:47 if we combine left-handed batters and right-handed
00:49 batters.
00:50 And also, Kevin, a K percentage of 33%, which is fantastic.
00:54 However, you're going to get a lineup that really hits well
00:57 against right-handed pitching, particularly
00:59 over the past month.
01:00 And that's for the Boston Red Sox.
01:01 First five guys in that lineup against right-handed pitchers
01:04 over the past 30 days, Kevin, take a look at these weighted
01:07 on base percentages here.
01:08 445, 376, 391, 428, and 372.
01:12 Even if we include Casas in the 7-hole, 384,
01:15 Yu Chang in the 9-hole, a 409.
01:18 It's going to be a tough lineup for Senga to get through.
01:21 If we flip it to the opposite side,
01:22 and the Mets a lot of the times, Kevin, for me, hit or miss.
01:25 Yesterday, I really thought they would hit Kopech.
01:27 Didn't do all that well.
01:28 I actually took RBI prop chances with Pete Alonso and also
01:32 Francisco Alvarez, who had great numbers.
01:34 Alonso singled late in that game to salvage the day
01:36 and give me a little bit of plus money.
01:38 But Cutter Crawford coming into this game,
01:40 he does have OK numbers against left-handed batters.
01:43 However, against those power right-handed bats,
01:45 he struggled, Kevin.
01:46 Look at this.
01:47 38 at bats here for a pitcher.
01:50 ISO power number, 417.
01:52 Weighted on base percentage, 405.
01:54 Maybe you get back in there.
01:55 It's OK.
01:56 Right-handed batter, Pete Alonso, could do damage.
01:58 Francisco Alvarez here batting easy.
02:00 Sometimes the DH there, he's a 414 ISO power number.
02:03 I think I might run it back today, Kevin.
02:05 Had success going for a split yesterday.
02:07 Maybe Alonso and Alvarez are the way to pick it up here.
02:10 But obviously, look at the Mets here.
02:12 I think that the better pitcher on the mound,
02:13 they just have to hit up there in Boston.
02:16 Yeah, and look, Cutter Crawford has struggled to Fenway Park
02:18 all season long.
02:20 So I think that that makes sense.
02:23 The Mets, look, they've struggled
02:25 to kind of cross the finish line in a lot of games.
02:27 But there's aspects of their team--
02:30 I'm just going to-- just to make the comparison,
02:33 a lot of their numbers, I think, look much better than the New
02:35 York Yankees, despite the fact that the Yankees have
02:37 a much better record than the New York Mets.
02:39 And that is kind of the difference in just perception,
02:42 but also could be the difference in your day-to-day wagering.
02:45 (upbeat music)
