00:02 - But Rick, we first go to a big day
00:04 in the National Football League.
00:06 The owners unanimously approving the sale
00:08 from Dan Snyder's family to the new group led by Josh Harris
00:12 for $6.05 billion.
00:15 The sale official yesterday, new ownership in Washington.
00:20 Rick, tell us just how significant of a day was this
00:23 in the history of the NFL?
00:24 - Significant in a number of ways.
00:27 First of all, significant how Roger
00:28 and folks orchestrated the deal.
00:31 When you get $6.05 billion as a sale,
00:35 then you're willing to accept a $60 million fine,
00:38 especially when it's set up by US Attorney and the report.
00:42 The way it was done, this was an owner,
00:44 former owner, will be former owner, discredited owner.
00:49 And when you take the 60 million
00:51 out of that $6 billion purchase price,
00:53 it doesn't look so bad.
00:55 It was simultaneously agreed for
00:57 with Dan Snyder and his folks.
00:59 So nobody's challenging anything.
01:01 So that's a good thing to get that process done,
01:03 that in and of itself.
01:04 But how about the Harris Blitzer group?
01:09 They already have successes in Philly and Newark.
01:12 They know how to run franchises.
01:13 And for DC, as we know, fresh start.
01:17 Not just fresh start in terms of reinvigorating a franchise
01:21 that has gone downhill in many ways,
01:23 but also a new stadium process.
01:24 There were a lot of Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland folks
01:29 who were ready to carry the ball
01:32 on the competitive site selection process,
01:34 but you had to thread the needle
01:36 and make sure you're dealing with Snyder's successor
01:39 and not Snyder.
01:40 And the day started yesterday.
