00:00 We'll all notice the chill this weekend, but before we get there, we've got some heavy
00:04 rain and some strong winds on Friday nights. The strong winds across northern Scotland
00:09 getting very windy in Shetland in particular and the heavy rain further south across parts
00:13 of the Midlands, East Anglia and the southeast through the evening time. That will get chased
00:19 away and then we'll see clearer spells developing. Showers will keep going across northern Ireland,
00:23 northwest England, north and west Wales and showers continuing in northern Scotland. As
00:28 I said, it's going to get very windy, particularly so over the northern isles, gusts of 60, maybe
00:32 70 miles an hour. So very blustery here. Those strong winds will help to keep the temperatures
00:37 up a little bit, but we could still see some pockets of frost through some sheltered glens
00:42 across Scotland and further south. Well, it will be a lot colder than recent nights, temperatures
00:48 down into single digits. So a real chill in the air on Saturday morning, but for many,
00:52 there'll be a bit of sunshine around as well. Not necessarily for parts of Wales, northwest
00:57 England, northern Ireland, southwest Scotland, where there will be more cloud and some showers.
01:02 They'll keep going through the day as well. The showers over northern Scotland falling
01:05 as snow over the hills, but central belt, southeast Scotland, well sheltered and eastern
01:11 England also generally fine with sunny spells. Sunny spells in the south, just a chance of
01:16 one or two showers here, but most of the day it will be dry. It isn't going to be warm,
01:21 however. Catch your mind back to last Saturday, where temperatures were in the low to mid
01:25 20s pretty widely. This Saturday, struggling to get into double figures in some parts and
01:31 maybe in the south into the teens, but feeling colder, especially with that wind across northern
01:36 parts of Scotland. A decent wind chill here, feeling closer to freezing for some, with
01:42 those very strong winds in Shetland, although they will be easing as we go through the day.
01:46 So yes, a chilly feeling Saturday and bear that in mind, I'm heading out on Saturday
01:50 night. Temperatures will drop pretty sharply. We'll continue to have some showers coming
01:55 into parts of Wales, northwest England and western Scotland through Saturday night. For
02:01 many elsewhere, it'll be something of a clear night. And as the winds ease, it will get
02:05 even colder. So a colder start to Sunday compared to Saturday, with more likely seeing a frost
02:11 over parts of northern England, northern Ireland and Scotland in rural spots and towns and
02:15 cities in the south down as low as three or four Celsius. So again, compared to recent
02:20 mornings, a very chilly start. But again, many places will have a fine bright day with
02:26 some sunshine. Still a few showers drifting in off the Irish Sea into the coast of north
02:31 Wales and a bit more cloud and showers, showery rain working its way across northern parts
02:36 of Scotland. But again, the central belt probably dry, a dry day for northern Ireland on Sunday
02:40 and most of England and Wales having a fine day too. There'll be some cloud, but we'll
02:44 see some spirals of sunshine as well. Temperatures, though, again, some 10, 11, 12 degrees lower
02:51 than last Sunday. These temperatures are below average as well. The winds, though, will be
02:57 lighter on Sunday. So even though temperatures of 10 or 11 degrees colder than it has been,
03:03 probably not feeling as cold maybe on Sunday compared to Saturday, particularly across
03:06 northern Scotland, because those winds will be that much lighter. High pressure is moving
03:11 in. That's why the winds are turning lighter and that high may well stick around for the
03:14 early part of next week. For more updates on that, make sure through the weekend you're
03:19 following us on social media.
