00:00 Think about last year in terms of that matchup.
00:02 Sean Clifford was under center, the human turnover machine
00:05 in regards to how he imploded in the fourth quarter
00:08 of that ballgame because Penn State was able
00:10 to rush the football.
00:11 They had a fourth quarter lead, Mike,
00:13 against that front seven.
00:15 They were dominating Katron Allen, Nick Singleton,
00:18 rushed for 126 yards, four and a half yards per carry,
00:21 and the turnovers created by Sean Clifford
00:24 completely put that team at a disadvantage.
00:26 They were down before you looked, like down by 19 points,
00:29 Kev, so it is a different team with Drew Aller at the helm.
00:33 Here's the problem that I have,
00:35 and two dominant defenses, Manny Diaz,
00:38 I mean, in that front seven, holding opposing offenses,
00:40 2.4 yards per carry, 26% in terms of third down defense,
00:45 only giving up 126 passing yards in terms of the back end.
00:49 But I look at Jim Knowles, I look at this Ohio State defense
00:52 and I look to two games in particular,
00:55 the game against Notre Dame, the game against Maryland,
00:57 where they struggled.
00:58 The second half adjustments,
01:00 the ability to be in a tight ballgame
01:02 when the game is on the line and to adjust.
01:04 We have not seen that yet from Penn State
01:07 because they've been dominating the competition
01:10 up until this point.
01:12 How do they respond?
01:14 That's why I favor, if I had to bet this game early on,
01:17 and Emiko Bucher's back, I would probably take Ohio State,
01:21 but that being said, I am sitting on a preseason
01:23 Penn State ticket at five to one to win the Big Ten.
01:26 - But this is one of the thing, right Mike?
01:28 And so this is where betting, again, is so important
01:33 to trying to break down and understand these games.
01:35 Penn State allow eight points per game,
01:37 no one can score on this team.
01:39 Well, they played six games,
01:41 three of their opponent team totals have cashed over.
01:43 It's relative.
01:44 Yes, they shut out UMass, they shut out Iowa,
01:49 two of the worst offenses in all of college football.
01:51 But you know what?
01:52 West Virginia went over their team total.
01:54 Northwestern went over their team total.
01:56 And Delaware with a seven.
01:57 Look, believe it or not,
01:58 but Delaware went over their team total.
02:00 - I know. - No, but they did, right?
02:01 - It was three and a half.
02:02 - But they went over the number, right?
02:03 Ohio State this year has had a lot
02:05 of low opponent team totals.
02:06 They've only allowed one.
02:08 It was Youngstown, and again, it was a seven,
02:10 but it was over the number.
02:12 The point is, for me, with Penn State,
02:15 what we have, their body of work, is so garbage.
02:19 And there's no other way to describe it.
02:20 I mean, it is awful.
02:21 When the best thing on your resume
02:23 is the worst offense in college football,
02:25 make no mistake about it,
02:26 that's what the Iowa Hawkeyes are,
02:27 the worst offense in college football, blew it.
02:30 I have too many questions about Penn State
02:32 to trust them in this spot.
