00:00 Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. Now through Wednesday
00:03 evening overnight and into Thursday, a band of rain will sink its way southwards with
00:08 blustery showers to follow. Let's pick up on the bigger picture. This low pressure system
00:13 here continues to bring some showery rain into the early hours of Thursday morning.
00:17 It is clearing eastwards as this one pushes in from the west. As it hits the cold air
00:22 across Scotland, we could see snow above around 400 metres, but it will swiftly move down
00:26 towards the south east with a bit of a squeeze on the ice bars behind towards the north west.
00:31 Elsewhere some brighter skies to follow, but that cloud lingering on with some patchy rain
00:35 across eastern counties. In fact, through Wednesday evening we continue with a keen
00:41 breeze here and some showery bursts. Frost first thing through the evening time across
00:46 Scotland. It will lift as this rain across Northern Ireland and Western Scotland pushes
00:50 ever eastwards. Dry slots in between. Here we could see some patchy fog and then eventually
00:56 there's a back edge to this rain. It could turn heavy for a time, a bit squally before
01:00 we see showers following. By this point through the early hours, rain will have arrived across
01:04 Wales, the West Country, Northern Counts of England as well as the West Midlands. A cold
01:09 start to the day across eastern counties of England and here we'll see more in the way
01:13 of cloud. However, across Scotland it's a blustery breeze, frequent showers towards
01:19 the north west, but eventually once the sun rises, some brighter skies further east.
01:24 Now a similar situation for Northern Ireland, a few showers skirting the far north. Now
01:28 through the morning, more clouds across northern counties of England and that extends down
01:32 across much of Wales, the West Country and the rest of England with some outbreaks of
01:36 rain. But the rain mostly light and patchy and it is clearing with some swiftness from
01:42 the west as we head through the morning. So through the morning we watch as these showers
01:46 continue to pile in across the north west. Again, strong winds here. The rain then clears
01:52 the far north of England by around mid morning. West Wales then seeing some brighter weather,
01:57 but we hang on to that low cloud, outbreaks of rain which will be mostly light and patchy
02:02 through the afternoon, anywhere from Fenlands down towards central southern England. But
02:07 by this point, yes, some brighter weather for northern counties, mid Wales as well.
02:12 Showers continue across the north as well as the west of Scotland, but some brighter
02:15 weather across eastern counties. Here temperatures only around seven degrees Celsius, but we'll
02:20 see 10 to 12 towards the southwest of England as well as Wales through the latter part of
02:25 the day. Now through Thursday evening and overnight, this rain clears towards the low
02:30 countries and then some clearer skies yet again across England and Wales. Those showers
02:35 continue across the north and west of Scotland, clipping Northern Ireland, but more clouds
02:40 to start the day as we head into Friday morning. Any sunshine as we enter Friday will be rather
02:46 hazy with a veil of high clouds extending across the country and a chilly start across
02:51 much of England and Wales and eastern Scotland here. Whereas further west, we'll see temperatures
02:56 slightly higher and again more of a breeze. So here's a snapshot of your weather on Friday
03:01 lunchtime. You can see more rain coming in courtesy of a warm front. So that's pushing
03:06 towards the northeast, drier skies towards the northeast by around lunchtime, but we'll
03:12 see some rain later. Northern Ireland seeing some patchy rain to start the day, creeping
03:16 across the northwest of England as well as west Wales through lunchtime, but brighter
03:20 weather anywhere from northern and eastern counties of England down towards mid Wales,
03:25 the west country as well as the southeast. So not a bad day after some drizzly bits and
03:30 pieces on Thursday. So here's your city's list through Friday afternoon. Temperatures
03:34 nine, 10, 11 degrees Celsius. It's nudging up and what you'll notice the difference in
03:39 temperatures by night through the weekend as this ridge extends from the south and then
03:44 we're under some much milder air, still very windy across the north there and also rain
03:49 comes and goes. But really, temperatures will be exceptional by night by day. Yes, it's
03:55 going to feel a lot milder and remaining settled towards the south with some brighter skies
03:59 from time to time. Now, if you want more details of the weather beyond that, check out our
04:04 10 day trend this week with Annie. I'll see you later.
