00:03Hello, it is the 31st of August and this is your weather update for the state of Queensland.
00:08There is a lot of heat coming through this week and honestly I'm a bit nervous about what this
00:13is going to look like for the rest of spring but we'll just stick with this week for the moment.
00:17This is Tuesday, we have a high fire danger being issued for the centre of the state
00:21and that will last throughout the week and potentially intensify as the week goes on.
00:26Let's have a look at rainfall, there is not a lot of rain on the way.
00:28We have some onshore flow up into the north as usual but as you can see it is dry for
00:35pretty
00:35much the entire week across the whole state. Okay, let's get into the temperature which is what
00:40is really concerning. Right now we are looking at the Saturday temperature, doesn't really matter
00:45what day we look at but we have this incredibly strong intrusion of warm air down very far south
00:53from the tropics. 30 to 35 degrees for very large areas of the state including Brisbane. In fact,
01:00Brisbane just pulling up here on Friday and Saturday will see highs of potentially 32 degrees
01:06which is higher than any recorded temperature from last year's September and that's even talking at the
01:13end of September. So to get these at the very start is already rather concerning. Okay, let's have a look
01:19at
01:19Toowoomba for our full regional breakdown. So Toowoomba actually just seems to sit in this little
01:24pocket that's not getting as high temperatures as other areas. You know, maybe a bit of topography
01:30as well but yeah, it's still warm so let's have a look, sorry. So as I see, no rain on
01:34the way, highs
01:35starting on Thursday 27 degrees, Friday 28 degrees, Saturday 28, Sunday 28, Monday 27 and then Tuesday
01:42starting to get a bit of relief and rain on the way there. Okay, let's have a quick look through
01:47for wind
01:47and that there is essentially no wind really throughout the state this week. No frost, no fog risk
01:54because of those warm temperatures. Okay, so this is the outlook for Queensland. It is dry, it is calm,
02:01but it is very hot for this time of year. Yep, definitely something to be on the lookout for.
02:08We will go through a seasonal forecast just to see how long this is going to last but in terms
02:14of what
02:16September is going to look like for a lot of Queensland. Okay, stay safe. Have a good week.
02:20We'll see you next time.
02:21We'll see you next time.
