00:45So Khalil Mack has played more games with the Chargers than his previous two teams.

00:56He's been with the Chargers.
00:58He's about to play his 65th regular season game, but he also played a few playoff games

01:04So he's technically worn the Chargers jersey more than any other jersey, makes his big splash
01:09with the Raiders, Defensive Player of the Year, had other really good seasons with the
01:14Bears.

01:18I love how he looked in a Raiders jersey.
01:21It was just like, let's take the most badass player we've ever had at UB, send him to New
01:26York City.
01:27He goes fifth and has the black and silver, or silver and black, I guess they call it.
01:33But he looked so cool in that.
01:35And then there was a time when they just couldn't pay him.
01:38They literally, they didn't have the money.
01:41It wasn't like, oh, the cap precludes us.
01:45We can't pay you what you need, so we have to send you, you know, it's like putting an
01:50orphan in a basket and shipping him down the river, you know?
01:53Like, they had to do that.
01:55And I remember, like, the game that stands out to me was his first game with Chicago.
01:59And I say it stands out.
02:00Now, I want to say they played the Packers.
02:02But it was a Sunday night or a Monday night game.
02:05Like, hey, look who they just got.
02:06And he was so dominant in that game.
02:10Also, I could never bring myself to purchase, even for my kid, a Raiders jersey.
02:16But once he was a Bear, my son has a Bears Khalil Mack jersey.
02:20What's wrong with the Raiders jersey?
02:21I don't know.
02:22I don't, it might be that it's an AFC team and we're Bills fans in my house.

02:30Like, I don't mind my son walks around with a Barry Sanders jersey.

02:34But if it was a running back from the same era, from the AFC, that wasn't Thurman Thomas,

02:47He's been great for a long time with the Chargers.
02:50But that seems like the end of the career to me.

02:53And the Chargers just aren't doing much.
02:55By the way, in that game against the Packers,
02:58his debut with the Bears, Khalil Mack, a sack, an interception for a touchdown,
03:05and a forced fumble and recovery.
03:08That sounds like the UB game he had against Ohio State when he kind of burst on the scene.

03:14And I want to say, one of those plays was the first or second snap of the game.
03:18It was just like, whoa, how'd you get this guy?
03:21And the answer is, because the Raiders were not fiscally responsible and didn't have the money to pay him.

03:29And I've never attended a Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

03:41But for Khalil Mack, like, there will be a contingent of people who have just been in love with his

07:27I just wanted to ask, you know, you take a look around the NFL teams.
07:32You know, you look at, besides Andy Reid, and I really don't know where he would be without
07:38Patrick Mahomes, but if you take a look around the league, the old school coaches, it just
07:44seems like it's not working anymore.
07:46And that's just my personal take.
07:49These younger guys are taking over, like the Joe Brady's and like the Sean McVay's of the
07:54world.
07:55But my other question to you is, you think Brady behind, Joe Brady behind the scenes is
08:01basically telling Josh this week, hey, take it easy.
08:05You know, with all these quarterbacks being taken down, you know, due to injuries, and
08:10it's sad to see, but it's part of the game.
08:14Do you think that comes into play with the Bills?
08:17You know, hey, don't run for a five-yard game.
08:20Let's just take the incomplete pass.
08:24Do you think maybe he's saying something like that?
08:27Absolutely not.
08:28No.
08:28Because what happens then is that's when you find yourself in the trap game situation.
08:34We can take it easy this week.
08:35Let's worry about the Patriots next week.
08:38I think that especially we got into a heated discussion yesterday about attitude coaches,
08:44and I think that Joe Brady very much is an attitude coach.
08:47He is going to want Josh Allen to step on the throat of whoever's in front of them.
08:54Don't let up at all.
08:55We're going to go for it on fourth down whenever we can.
08:58We're going to go for the touchdown instead of the field goal whenever we can.
09:03Aggressive, aggressive, aggressive.
09:05And I think that there is a tendency to want to, but maybe human nature, we can let up.
09:15Therefore, even if you start thinking about it, you have a tendency to maybe do it.
09:19It creeps into everything that you do throughout the week.
09:23Your preparation becomes just a little bit off.
09:26Your health and sleeping habits get a little bit off.
09:29Your routine gets a little bit off because it's like, eh, it's just the Chargers.
09:32Not only are the Chargers bad through the first two weeks, they're banged up, and they're coming here.
09:38They're going to have to go three time zones away and play at 1 o'clock at what's 10 a
09:43.m. for them,
09:44and they're reeling, and they're in crisis.
09:46And if you start thinking like that, then that's when you lose a game
09:51or you let up just a little bit on a play and somebody takes your head off.
09:55Those are almost the same words that I would have said as we both were like, no.
09:59I would have given a similar speech.
10:01The one thing I would add to it is I think that what you're talking about has already been on
10:08a big picture level
10:10has already been coached into him and at this point kind of doesn't even need to be coached into him.
10:15I think he understands at this point the most important thing is that this guy keeps playing for the team,
10:21and I think we've seen it in his game.
10:22He is far less reckless on a consistent basis.
10:27There are moments he's going to just lose his mind because he's all caught up in the game,
10:30and I do that too.
10:32I don't mean in football.
10:33I just mean in life.
10:34But he's running, but I think he is aware of his importance to this team and the franchise, the town,
10:43like all of it.
10:45Being upright is super important.
10:46It's not going to prevent him from making a play, though.
10:50Big picture, I think it's in there.
10:53Because he's a nine-year veteran.
10:55Yeah, he is who he is, and the Bills have tried to coach it out of him at different phases,
11:02whether it was Sean McDermott or Ken Dorsey or Terry Pagula or I think probably even Joe Brady.
11:10And then at some point they're just like –
11:12Probably Haley.
11:14He's going to do what he does, and he's the same size as John Riggins.
11:21And, yes, we do.
11:22John Riggins can play through a banged-up elbow, whereas Josh Allen, you're going to worry about that.
11:28Or a bad thumb or something that maybe prohibits him from throwing the ball.
11:33You didn't have to worry about that with John Riggins.
11:35But with that size and the punishment that he delivers, you know, it's interesting.
11:39That game Thursday night on that 21-yard scramble for a touchdown, I think that's what the distance was.
11:44Because he's just running through the open field.
11:47And then by the time he got near the goal line, I thought there were two players converging on him.
11:53And I'm like, here comes the hit.
11:54And one of them made a business decision and didn't.
11:58Right.
11:58And the other one kind of had a glancing blow that Josh avoided.
12:02Guys, unless there's a linebacker or a defensive lineman in a sack situation, guys generally try to avoid him.
12:08So, he's probably not going to take the abuse that C.J. Stroud would.

12:20And also, when you talk about a rash of injuries at the quarterback position.

13:36If I'm a coach or his wife or his mom or his dad, I guess it'd be his dad.

14:02It was a video clip from some radio show somewhere, podcast.

14:06And they just started talking about statistically where he is as a runner as far as rushing touchdowns.
14:11And they calculated that if he gets five rushing touchdowns a year over the next 10 years, that seemed like
14:20a lot of years, but not a lot of touchdowns per.
14:23But they were just projecting, like, he's going to be third all time in rushing touchdowns in the NFL.
14:27He's a quarterback.
14:29And it led me to dig into that a little bit, looked up the list.
14:33And, yeah, everybody, it's obviously he passed Cam Newton when it was last year or two years ago.
14:40He passed Cam Newton.
14:41So he's number one all time in quarterback rushing touchdowns.
14:45He's got, what, four rushing, five passing this year.
14:48So he's added to that.
14:50He's up to 83 rushing touchdowns, which ties him right now for 18th with Jim Taylor, running back, all running
14:59backs, and then Josh.

21:19And then they're 2-0, and I was like, well, obviously they're just playing the Chargers,
21:22and the Chargers stink, but I don't think the Chargers stink.
21:25I think the Chargers are a middle-of-the-pack team in a really good division, and they're going
21:29to beat some good teams this year.
21:31This game opened at the Bills, with the Bills being two-and-a-half-point favorites way
21:37back when, when the Lions first came out on this game, Chargers were supposed to be an
21:41upstart team, looking really good, Mike McDaniels had everybody excited, and it is now seven.

21:47You can actually get it for seven-and-a-half at one of the books.

21:53Anyway, I'm not predicting the Chargers come in here and take care of business.
21:57I'm just saying this, part of the, it's the opposite of the Lions game, when I couldn't
22:03fathom it because it was the opener, and there's just so much going on, and it just made too
22:08much sense for the Bills to come out, and they did come out just, I mean, perfectly to start
22:12the game.
22:13It got tighter as it went on, but there were, end of the first quarter, you knew who was
22:17winning the game, and that was cool.
22:19I fear that, I don't think Josh gets complacent, I don't think Joe Brady gets complacent, but
22:25there has to be some collective, we're 2-0, they're 0-2, we're at home, we don't have
22:31to travel this week, this is going to be awesome, let's go beat the 0-2 Chargers.
22:34Even if that's 3% of your brain goes that way, it's a factor, and it's still a professional
22:40team with a bunch of stud players, including a Hall of Famer that played at UB.
22:45So I'm fearful of this game.
22:48I can't imagine if they lose this game to the 0-2 Chargers wearing the Nickel City
22:52uniforms, how upset everybody's going to be about those things, when you consider, like
22:57people are mad in the off-season about what some people are going to be wearing on television
23:03months from now.
23:04People have opinions about what shirt people will wear on television on September 27th,
23:12and they have that opinion in June.
23:15If they lose in these shirts, I will take the calls.
23:18Like, I'll listen to that.
23:20Generally, I say, if they switch their entire look, like, we're not red, white, and blue
23:25anymore as the Buffalo Bills.
23:27I'd be mad.
23:27But if you want to wear a gray shirt for a day, I'm okay with it.
