Tonight, we'll climb out of the valley mist to Rowanfell Castle Inn, high on the fells, and spend Halloween in its tower room as the first snow comes down.

Rosalie has walked all day across the fells. At dusk she reaches an old stone castle that now keeps rooms for walkers, looked after by three kind, old-fashioned house ghosts: Mr Hebden at the fire, Mr Bewick with the lamps, and Mrs Hartley at the piano. There's a hotpot waiting in the oven, pumpkins glowing at the gate, and snow beginning to fall past the window. Nothing much happens. The house settles, the snow keeps falling, and Rosalie falls asleep.

This is a cosy Halloween, not a scary one: gentle ghosts, lamplight and first snow, told in a calm, slow voice. The story and the sleep affirmations last about 40 minutes, and soft music carries on for about three hours in all. At 11 minutes the screen fades to black, so the room stays dark while you sleep.
