Tonight, we'll walk up a misty glen in the Highlands to an old walled garden, where a glasshouse glows warm in the dark and a gardener is still at work among the plants.
Nora gets off the bus at the road end and follows the track through the birches to the glasshouse at Ardglen. Fergus is potting cuttings under the old vine, with tea in a flask and the heating pipes ticking. Ailsa has leek and potato soup on the stove and a baked apple to follow. There is a nine o'clock round with a watering can and a roll of fleece, and a hot water bottle waiting upstairs. Nothing much happens. The mist gathers on the glass, and everything in the house is looked after, including the guest.
This is a slow, gentle sleep story about being looked after, read in a calm, deep voice. The story and the sleep affirmations last about 50 minutes, and soft forest music carries on to the end, so you can drift off without touching your phone. At 5 minutes the screen turns to a starry sky and fades to black at 11 minutes, so the room stays dark while you sleep.
