Tonight, we'll drive up a gravel road to Pinehaven Lodge, where the air smells of pine resin, the rules are read out loud from a clipboard, and absolutely nothing eventful is going to happen.
Two families arrive on a Saturday afternoon. Brennan, who looks after the lodge, reads three points and their sub-points in a calm, unhurried voice. Theo runs an evening of nature drawing. In the morning there is toast, a walk along the blue trail that stays firmly on the blue trail, a cold lunch of bread and salted butter, and an afternoon with nothing on the programme. Then everyone packs up, and the pines are exactly where Brennan left them. Nothing much happens. That is the whole point.
This is a slow, gently funny sleep story, read in a calm, deep voice at an unhurried pace. The story lasts about 35 minutes, and soft mountain music continues until the end so you can drift off without touching your phone. At 5 minutes the screen slowly changes to a dark, starry sky, and at 11 minutes it fades to black, so the room stays dark while you sleep.
