A political showdown has erupted over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls following contradictory stands within the Congress. While Rahul Gandhi and the party leadership have accused the Election Commission of fraud and irregularities, demanding a rollback of the exercise, Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi defended the revision, stating the Election Commission took the right step to remove deceased and shifted voters. Jarkiholi's cabinet colleagues, however, backed Rahul Gandhi's allegations, calling the SIR a centralized conspiracy. Citing the division within the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party and Union Minister JP Nadda attacked the opposition's campaign, accusing them of irresponsible behavior ahead of planned protests against the Chief Election Commissioner.

00:00Okay, let's move on and also talk about the other big political showdown in Karnataka, which is on the SIR.
00:07It was finally ended, the exercise came to an end just a couple of days ago with the Election Commission
00:12giving out the final figures.
00:14And while you've seen this whole narrative against the SIR by the opposition led by the Congress largely across the
00:20country,
00:21in Karnataka, Minister Satish Jarki Holi has said, we have no objections whatsoever to the SIR,
00:27that the EC has taken the right step, that with this exercise, deceased voters are out and those with different
00:32addresses are also out.
00:34This endorsement for the SIR from within the Congress has led to questions about whether the Congress is divided within
00:41on the entire campaign against the SIR.
00:51For weeks, the opposition has been targeting the Narendra Modi government and the Election Commission over the special intensive revision
01:00of electoral rolls.
01:01And leading the charge is Rahul Gandhi.
01:04He has repeatedly highlighted the alleged flaws in SIR and demanded that the exercise be rolled back.
01:11However, his party colleague and Karnataka Minister Satish Jarki Holi has backed the voter list revision in his state.
01:41But Jarki Holi's cabinet colleagues have a different view.
01:45That's a very clear indication that this is a conspiracy theory that has its roots all over the place.
01:53And it's centralized. And we will get to the bottom of it.
01:56I stand by Mr. Rahul Gandhiji, what he's been telling throughout India.
02:00And we have proved beyond the point. It was started by Mr. Rahul Gandhiji only a year back.
02:05Now there's no doubt about it. SIR is a fraud.
02:08And because of that only, BJP is winning the elections. It is proved beyond the point, but they may not
02:12expect it.
02:13The BJP was quick to target Rahul Gandhi, citing Jarki Holi's remarks.
02:19This is a very significant statement from a senior minister in Karnataka cabinet.
02:24And it has exposed the bogus campaign of Congress party.
02:28Union Minister J.P. Nadda also launched a scathing attack on the Congress and the opposition.
02:35This is an irresponsible behavior. If you are responsible, you come out with facts.
02:42Go to, go to, go to, go to election commission. You have never visited the election commission.
02:46Challenge kia tha election commission na. Not even a single person from Congress party or any other opposition party went
02:52there.
02:59Not long ago, Rahul Gandhi had alleged irregularities in the SIR exercise in Karnataka.
03:06This is complete nonsense, right? The fact of the matter is that election commission is not doing its job.
03:13Now we have concrete, 100% proof of election commission allowing cheating in a seat in Karnataka.
03:22These contrasting views have put the Congress in a spot, especially as the party and its India block allies
03:29gear up for a weekend of protests against CEC Gyanesh Kumar over SIR.
03:35With Dagar Jun Dwarakanath, Bureau Report, India Today.
