00:00What I love about first-time clients is they have a little trepidation, but they are very excited to see
00:06what their hair-free journey is going to look like.
00:08So I love that enthusiasm.
00:12I have heard horror stories about laser hair removal.
00:16I've heard stories about people getting their face scarred because the person didn't know what they were doing.
00:21I'm Mina. I'm 27 years old, and I'm getting laser hair removal done today.
00:26I'm Arab. I'm Middle Eastern. I'm literally a hairy beast. I am the Chewbacca of laser hair removal.
00:34I'm an on-camera reporter, so I shave pretty much every single day or every other day.
00:39I'm wearing dresses. I'm wearing heels, things that are strapless, and I cannot have that on camera.
00:46It's just annoying, and it's a nuisance.
00:48So in a perfect world, I'd want to get my face done, my arms, my underarms, definitely my legs, like
00:54everywhere.
00:55Like, literally everywhere.
00:57My name is Erica Bell, and I am a registered nurse at Sed Laser Aesthetics.
01:01I went to Hampton University, which is a historically black university, and I decided that I wanted to come back
01:07to California,
01:08and I wanted to merge my love for beauty and aesthetics.
01:13I became a client at Sed Laser, and then the friendly nursing staff found out that I was a nurse
01:19and invited me to apply.
01:21My first time shaving, I think I was in about, like, sixth grade, and I just remember being in the
01:27bathtub
01:27and, like, blood coming out of my leg, which was so gross.
01:31It was so painful, and I remember it burning and being like, is this what it takes to be a
01:36woman?
01:36I cannot. This is the worst.
01:38Okay, I have to do laser hair removal. Like, this is the only other option I have to keep my
01:43sanity.
01:44We at Sed Laser believe that everyone's a good candidate for laser hair removal.
01:48Our laser technology is very smart, and it is the latest technology.
01:54So anyone that has hair that is pigmented can get laser hair removal.
02:00Hi. Hi.
02:01Hi. I'm Nurse Erica.
02:02Mina. Nice to meet you.
02:03Nice to meet you.
02:04We recommend that you do not pluck, wax, thread, or nair no other forms of hair removal
02:11besides shaving prior to your treatment.
02:23During the procedure, Mina will feel snaps from the laser.
02:28She'll feel the cool air, which we turn down for the face because it makes it a little bit more
02:33difficult to breathe during this process if there's just air blowing in your face.
02:38And then she'll also feel a little heat.
02:41You never want to feel a lot of heat.
02:43You want it to all kind of be a smooth transition from one zap to the next, one area to
02:50the next.
02:51What is that smell?
02:52Everyone always asks.
02:54It is called plume.
02:55It is the hair follicle Burney.
02:59There we go.
03:01Yay.
03:01Smells like 4th of July.
03:04When I got to Mina's face, we wanted to show how bright and beautiful and luminous her face was.
03:10We did this by contouring her face with laser.
03:13I removed the hair from her hairline to her eyebrows and even around her sideburns as well.
03:24Oh my gosh, it feels so ridiculously smooth.
03:29This is embarrassing, but I had like this one prick leaf right here and it's like totally gone.
03:35Like it's not even there anymore.
03:36Mina was so excited seeing her first treatment and that's what makes me most happy.
03:44After that first session alone, I felt like my skin was smoother, which isn't why people go get laser hair
03:51removal done.
03:52It was just like a very cool side effect.
03:54It's a little tingly right now, but it feels so smooth.
03:58It feels way smoother.
04:00My least favorite part about the laser hair removal procedure was when I was getting my face done.
04:06My eyes were tearing up and people were like, oh my god, are you okay? Are you okay?
04:10The area is sensitive, so my eyes water, but I wasn't dying or like screaming in pain.
04:16I haven't experienced my hair growing back thicker with laser hair removal.
04:20Like even with my armpits when the hairs like started to grow back a little,
04:24I like looked at it and this sounds so disgusting and weird.
04:27It just like slid right out.
04:29Like the hair just slid out.
04:31Results vary because hair growth is hormonal.
04:33So we recommend clients to come in six weeks after their first treatment.
04:37The hair will grow in thinner and you'll have less of it.
04:41With laser hair removal, you're at least working towards a goal where if you're investing money,
04:45you at least know the hair is either getting thinner or it's not going to come back again.
04:49And that is a way better feeling than feeling like you're going to have to be in this weird purgatory
04:53of,
04:54you know, paying for waxing for the rest of your life.
04:58When you get laser hair removal, your skin holds on to that heat from the laser for a couple of
05:03days.
05:04It's really imperative that you protect that skin.
05:06That's why we recommend not adding heat.
05:09No saunas, jacuzzis, intense exercise, and of course staying out of the sun.
05:14I'm super excited to get more sessions done to see if the hair is gone forever,
05:19if it really does thin out, how my face feels afterwards.
05:23I'm excited to see what's in store and I'm excited to get more sessions at SEB.
