00:00 Hi there, a couple of showery days coming up before a fine day for most of us on Saturday.
00:06 At the moment low pressure is still in charge of our weather and the jet stream is dipping
00:10 to the south of the UK. All the ingredients there for an unstable atmosphere but the heavier
00:16 rain that many of us have seen over the last few days that is clearing into the continent
00:20 so it's more a case of sunny spells and showers for the vast majority. Having said that the
00:25 showers will be heavy and frequent and perhaps prolonged in parts of southern and southwest
00:29 western UK. The way Wales, the Midlands and towards the south west could even see the
00:35 odd thunderstorm. Further north, North Wales, Northern England, Southern Scotland, Eastern
00:40 Scotland faring best for any drier and brighter interludes but for Northern and Western Scotland
00:46 and Northern Ireland some longer spells of rain move in courtesy of an occluded front
00:50 and a stiff breeze there for the far north west of Scotland gales around some exposed
00:56 coasts of the Outer Hebrides. Those strong winds will push the heavy rain or showers
01:01 through across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland overnight. Further downpours coming
01:05 into the west of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Western England and Wales. There will also
01:09 be some heavy showers around the coast of south east England. The heaviest rain most
01:15 likely staying offshore but always the chance that the odd thunderstorm could brush close
01:21 to parts of Kent, Essex, Suffolk for example. It's a cool night wherever you are. Temperatures
01:27 dipping into the single figures mid or even low single figures for some sheltered parts
01:31 of Northern UK. A bit of brightish start to the day. Some early sunshine for central and
01:37 eastern parts but showers from the word go in the west will transfer east through the
01:42 day. Some heavy downpours in the east of England by the afternoon even the odd thunderstorm
01:47 once again and with brisk winds, a breezier day I think for most of us, touching gale
01:52 force around northern parts of Scotland. It's going to feel on the cool side. Temperatures
01:57 a degree or two lower compared with Thursday, mid to high teens generally or even low teens
02:02 for parts of Northern UK. However, quite quickly on Friday night the showers ease away particularly
02:09 towards the west and with widespread clear skies developing and the winds easing a touch,
02:14 it's going to be a chilly start to Saturday. In urban areas, mid to high single figures,
02:21 in shelter spots, low single figures or even a touch below freezing from mid Wales northwards.
02:26 Then as we start off Saturday, bright skies for many despite that cool start. Still a
02:31 strong wind in the far north of Scotland but plenty of sunshine elsewhere. The cloud does
02:35 build through the day and by the afternoon rather cloudy skies especially towards western
02:40 areas but for the vast majority it is dry aside from one or two light showers in the
02:44 far north. Temperatures after that chilly start will remain on the cool side, 15, 16
02:50 Celsius in the south, 12 to 14 further north. But with light winds and sunny spells, perfectly
02:55 pleasant for the time of year. Rain waiting in the wings though out towards the west is
03:00 going to come in on Saturday night. Now this spell of wet weather will be focused on Sunday
03:05 across parts of western Scotland, Northern Ireland, northwest England and Wales especially
03:09 over the higher ground where there could be some substantial amounts of rain between Sunday
03:14 and early Monday. This is all circulating around the remnants of Hurricane Nigel. Strong
03:20 winds developing on Sunday as well. Now although it's not a hurricane anymore we will feel
03:25 the fingerprints of that tropical moisture in the intensity of the wet weather in the
03:30 west but also with increased humidity and warmth arriving into the south and south east
03:35 where it will stay a little bit warmer compared with Saturday. Much more online but for now
03:41 that's all from me. Bye bye.
