00:04dipped in summer. Windy and showery at times in the northwest this weekend. Drier, brighter
00:11and increasingly warm in the south. Having said that, it's a fresh start across the UK.
00:16A cooler night last night compared with recent nights and plenty of sunshine for England
00:21and Wales. Scotland, Northern Ireland seeing a bit more cloud. Further showers for a time.
00:25They'll become fewer into the afternoon. The wind will ease a touch and you can see by
00:29the shape of the winds around the UK. There's a ridge of high pressure in place. That's
00:33providing a lot of drier weather and brighter weather. Temperatures reaching the low, perhaps
00:40mid-20s, given enough sunshine in the south and southeast. But not as humid as we've experienced
00:46at times through the week, mid to high teens further north. By the end of the day, this
00:52area of cloud, rain starts to emerge into Ireland and it gradually pushes its way towards Northern
00:57Ireland during the evening, fragmenting its showery rain on and off, not amounting to a
01:02great deal. Likewise, for the north and west of Scotland, the winds pick up here as well.
01:06Some heavier bursts by dawn. A few showers also arrive into the west, predominantly the southwest
01:11as well as parts of South Wales by the end of the night. And towards the east, it stays clearer.
01:18Warmer night to come. Temperatures are a degree or two up compared with Friday night.
01:22So, not quite as fresh on Sunday morning. And it's an interesting situation actually on Sunday
01:28because we've got this ridge of high pressure just east of the UK and this plume of warmth
01:33extending across the country as a warm front crosses the northwest. But in between, a lot of cloud,
01:39tightly packed isobars, an active cold front coming along later in the day. So, big contrasts
01:44across the country. And we do start the day with some rain across Western England, Wales. That rain
01:49moves across Scotland, heavy at times in the far north and northwest associated with the warm front,
01:54which is clearing the Northern Isles. In between the warm front and the cold front then, we've got
01:58this warmer air. And it does turn drier and brighter across England and Wales after the early rain
02:03showers. And despite one or two showers still remaining, it's going to be warm. Temperatures
02:10reaching the mid to high teens. There's a 40% chance of 28 Celsius. More likely it will top out
02:16at 27
02:17Celsius. Mid-20s fairly widely. Low 20s towards the north and northwest, even if it does turn
02:24increasingly cloudy across central and western Scotland and Northern Ireland through the afternoon
02:28with some lively showers turning up. And the wind picking up here as well. You can see by the
02:34arrows there that we're likely to see gales in exposed parts of northwest Scotland. Significant wind gusts
02:40accompanying those showers. So big contrast, like I say, breezy with showers in the far north,
02:48gales in exposed spots, warm sunshine further south and southeast. Now that cold front crosses
02:55the country on Monday, so it's going to turn fresher again. And there could be some more wet and windy
02:59weather around Tuesday before another ridge of high pressure builds mid-week. Like I say,
03:04one toe dipped in autumn, one in summer.
