Over the past six years, a team of filmmakers has been following more than a dozen Americans in eight states across the U.S., charting their views about changes in the country and in their own lives.
How are these Americans — from a doctor to a pastor to a barber to a construction company owner to a retiree — feeling about the direction of the country as the midterms approach?
From a team led by award-winning filmmaker Mike Shum, American Voices 2026 is the latest installment of a unique filmmaking effort begun in 2020. That’s when Shum and FRONTLINE started documenting the lives of voters with differing viewpoints as they navigated a year of extraordinary tumult, from the pandemic to protests to the polls, in the documentary American Voices: A Nation in Turmoil.
American Voices 2024 chronicled how their hopes and fears had changed since 2000, amid another polarizing election season.

00:00:01O que é isso?
00:00:30Presidente Trump is hoping to give Republicans a boost.
00:00:32Can Democrats flip the House and Senate?
00:00:35Over the past six years, a team of filmmakers across the United States
00:00:39has been documenting the views and experiences of Americans.
00:00:43When they step outside their jurisdiction...
00:00:46What is your take on all this stuff going on?
00:00:50From the earliest days of the pandemic...
00:00:52I love you so much.
00:00:53...to a summer of protest.
00:00:55We're the free people of America.
00:00:57As long as they catch one dirty cop at a time, I'm happy one at a time.
00:01:02...and economic woes.
00:01:04Groceries are skyrocketing.
00:01:06Health care is out the roof.
00:01:08The hopes and fears about the last elections...
00:01:10I want the values to be what the people are voting for, not the person.
00:01:14...and the current one.
00:01:15The state of this country now is messy.
00:01:18People are angry.
00:01:19I think I am, too.
00:01:21Now, a Frontline Special Presentation...
00:01:24American Voices 2026.
00:01:55How can I love America?
00:01:56I can't, I don't think I can love America.
00:01:58I can't put that into words.
00:02:01Are we any more safe now than we were before?
00:02:04The cost of living has gone up.
00:02:08I'm fearful that people will forget how to work with people that you don't agree with.
00:02:14These are the voices of Americans.
00:02:17People are getting angrier and angrier.
00:02:20I want to be in charge of my own life.
00:02:23Gathered from across a divided nation.
00:02:26If America doesn't repent, America will be doomed.
00:02:30In this film, Americans reflect on the past six tumultuous years.
00:02:34Someone clap once for me.
00:02:37This ain't the American dream I thought about when I was in middle school.
00:02:41I wish there wasn't as much hate in this world as what we have.
00:02:46The midterms are definitely going to be very polarizing.
00:02:52A pastor, a barber, an aspiring politician, an activist, a mother, a retiree.
00:03:04The owners of a nail salon and of a construction company, a doctor, and a patient.
00:03:15Each experiencing changes happening in the country and in their own lives.
00:03:27So, we're new to Missouri.
00:03:29I'm seeing all the signs about, like, no on four and five, you know?
00:03:33Do you have an opinion on those?
00:03:35Um, not enough to speak one way or the other.
00:03:41It's tomorrow.
00:03:42Is it tomorrow?
00:03:43Yeah.
00:03:44All right, well.
00:03:46Go and take a look, but I will, too.
00:03:49It's good to be informed.
00:03:52Awesome, thank you.
00:03:54I'm trying to talk to locals about the issues that are on the ballot,
00:03:57but so far, nobody near me knows what they even are.
00:04:02Okay, so look there.
00:04:04Objective versus subjective.
00:04:06My kids sometimes will just blurt something out that they got from a meme.
00:04:12I would be like, okay, why do you feel that way?
00:04:15What are the facts?
00:04:15And they can't even explain it.
00:04:17Opinions versus facts.
00:04:18And this is why I hate the mainstream news now.
00:04:21My name is Amy Garner.
00:04:23I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
00:04:26and I am a mom of six kids.
00:04:30I don't trust any news source.
00:04:32All these people are getting a lot of money from advertisers.
00:04:36I would never say that I blindly or fully trust any of them.
00:04:43No bag is exactly what it sounds like.
00:04:46It's a backpack or duffel bag designed to have everything you need,
00:04:50so in case of an emergency, you can easily and quickly grab it.
00:04:54My name is Dr. Christine Eadie Mann.
00:04:57I am a family practice physician in the Central Texas area.
00:05:02Politics in 2020, COVID in 2020, Kamala Harris in 2024.
00:05:08It has led to me more thinking, take care of myself,
00:05:13take care of my friends, take care of my family.
00:05:15This is our solar crank radio,
00:05:17so if the grid goes down, you can use solar or you can crank it.
00:05:23Sewing kit, antibiotic ointment.
00:05:26This kind of prepping makes me have to think about the idea
00:05:31that some of my fears could come to fruition.
00:05:41Our men have been emasculated.
00:05:44American men are soft.
00:05:46I mean, honestly, if we do not hold the line in 2026 and 2028,
00:05:53Minnesota is going to be ground zero for rounding some of you people up.
00:05:57My name is Royce White.
00:05:59I didn't get into politics for it to be a job.
00:06:01I only got into politics to speak a truth that I thought wouldn't be spoken
00:06:05unless I got into politics.
00:06:09Our political reality in this country is
00:06:11the future of this nation rests upon the edge of a blade.
00:06:15Good to see you, guys.
00:06:24I don't even look at the news anymore
00:06:26because I don't want to see him.
00:06:28I'm just so tired of seeing the president.
00:06:32Okay, I have the answer.
00:06:33It is Frank Sinatra.
00:06:35I got it right.
00:06:37Tell you, I get lucky every day I'm there.
00:06:40My name is Corrine Lewis.
00:06:42I live in North Chesterfield, Virginia.
00:06:45I'm retired.
00:06:47And I'm a homeowner.
00:06:51Praising my Savior
00:07:02My pastor even said,
00:07:04he said,
00:07:05even if we're not happy with the person running the country,
00:07:08we still have to love him.
00:07:09Say it.
00:07:10Say that.
00:07:11I guess I still have a lot more spiritual guidance to have to do
00:07:17because I'm not there.
00:07:25My name is Mark Curtis.
00:07:27I'm a father.
00:07:29I'm also a business owner.
00:07:31I own a construction company.
00:07:34My political leanings today are very much conservative libertarian.
00:07:39As an American that has no ties to Israel,
00:07:41and I don't mean for this to come across as being insensitive,
00:07:44but I don't like how much money or the involvement America has
00:07:48in the foreign war.
00:07:49What is your take on all this stuff going on?
00:07:52Because I don't feel like I have educated
00:07:55a true, full sense of what's happening.
00:07:58I feel with 7th and the fact that, you know,
00:08:01you had people that invaded churches and...
00:08:04Coming from Palestine.
00:08:05Coming from Gaza, yeah.
00:08:08But then...
00:08:08Yeah, which is horrible.
00:08:11Yeah.
00:08:12I am not sure how everything shifted
00:08:15from being America first
00:08:17and our economics improving
00:08:20to needing the support of a foreign nation.
00:08:26Tough times are coming.
00:08:28The next few years might be rough.
00:08:30There's going to be ups and downs.
00:08:32There's going to be turmoil.
00:08:33Our culture's drifted so far away from Christian ethics.
00:08:37But he will hold me fast.
00:08:40And he'll hold you fast.
00:08:41You've got two choices in American politics.
00:08:44You can have bad or you can have worse.
00:08:46Republicans are bad.
00:08:47Democrats are worse.
00:08:49You get evil or you get more evil.
00:08:52My name is Kerry Gordon.
00:08:54I'm the senior pastor of Cornerstone World Outreach.
00:08:59I've told my kids at home that this world is cruel.
00:09:06You have to maintain compassion for other people
00:09:08and want to help other people
00:09:10and at the same time keep a defensive posture
00:09:13so that you can survive it.
00:09:19I'm saying on that time,
00:09:20they thought they was like it was deja vu.
00:09:22Draco 762 with some green dip.
00:09:24That's my favorite round.
00:09:25She'll catch it on the track.
00:09:26Crime Raps report.
00:09:27The shells were never found.
00:09:27100 about the outs.
00:09:29I never lied.
00:09:29They music really wack.
00:09:30I said, we be slicing through the app
00:09:32and we don't even got to do it.
00:09:33Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:09:35You got bars, man.
00:09:36You can rap.
00:09:37Just make sure you mean what you say, you know?
00:09:40Music and like art and stuff like that
00:09:41is just self-reflection.
00:09:43And if you're mad at the time,
00:09:45get it out on the music.
00:09:47If you feel heart broke at the time,
00:09:49get it out on the music.
00:09:50My name is Tyler Daniel.
00:09:51I'm from South Minneapolis, Minnesota.
00:09:54I am a human first and a community member.
00:09:57You know, I don't really like to get into politics
00:09:59even though politics gets into all of us, right?
00:10:01All right, my man.
00:10:02All right, for sure.
00:10:03Y'all be smooth, man.
00:10:05I'm contributing as much as I can
00:10:07to the people that I love
00:10:08and the community I love.
00:10:20When I was in high school,
00:10:22I always tell my friend, like,
00:10:23later on in life,
00:10:24I'm going to do some kind of business.
00:10:26Like, I'm going to open a business.
00:10:27I don't know what it is,
00:10:28but something, something.
00:10:31My name is Jamie Din.
00:10:33My name is Jason Tolentino.
00:10:36When I tell Jason I'm going to get a nail salon,
00:10:39and then he was like,
00:10:41oh my God,
00:10:42you know how much you have to pay
00:10:43for rent, insurance,
00:10:45and then how many pedicure you have to do?
00:10:47I was like, Jason, I don't know,
00:10:48but I know that I have to get that.
00:10:53The government have their job to do,
00:10:56and me, I'm just a follower.
00:11:00We work hard to keep the life,
00:11:03the life that we are right now.
00:11:16It just don't seem like
00:11:18something in the air.
00:11:21It's just a year
00:11:21with a whole lot wrong to it.
00:11:24Hmm.
00:11:26My name is Brian Moore.
00:11:27I'm a barber from Portland, Oregon.
00:11:29Gotcha.
00:11:30You can have a seat,
00:11:31and we'll be right with you.
00:11:33Peter, you are on the wait list as well.
00:11:36My business,
00:11:37it's not like it used to be.
00:11:40There's not really regulars anymore,
00:11:43and that's why I chose
00:11:45to do a part-time position
00:11:46at a franchise.
00:11:49I keep reiterating to myself
00:11:51that it's going to get better
00:11:52because the economy is going to get better.
00:11:53It's going to go back
00:11:54to where it should be.
00:11:57I don't think we're coming out of this.
00:11:59I don't think that we're going to come out
00:12:01of this one unscathed.
00:12:04If you asked me in 2020
00:12:06if any of these things would have happened,
00:12:08I would have not believed you.
00:12:12I guess I am very different
00:12:13than I was back then.
00:12:15There's been a lot of things
00:12:16that changed from 2020,
00:12:18but I don't think nearly enough
00:12:19has changed.
00:12:20My heart hasn't changed,
00:12:21but my political views have changed.
00:12:23How did we get to this point?
00:12:30The CDC says there are now
00:12:32more than 4,200 cases of coronavirus.
00:12:36Mass gatherings are restricted
00:12:37to less than 10 people.
00:12:40All the people, the nations,
00:12:43and the languages
00:12:43fell down and worshipped
00:12:45the golden image
00:12:47that Nebuchadnezzar,
00:12:49the king, had set up.
00:12:54My father pioneered this church in 1982.
00:12:57This is my 25th year
00:12:59of pastoring myself.
00:13:03How do I water baptize someone
00:13:05in a virtual service?
00:13:07How do I bury the dead?
00:13:09How do I have a wedding?
00:13:11How are people supposed
00:13:12to have me lay my hands upon them
00:13:15and anoint them with oil
00:13:16and pray over them
00:13:17to be healed
00:13:18in the midst of a pandemic
00:13:19when I'm told
00:13:20that I can't have physical contact?
00:13:26And they've said
00:13:27the church is not essential.
00:13:29In a time of crisis,
00:13:30with imminent death
00:13:31and a pandemic,
00:13:32the church is not essential.
00:13:35It's offensive.
00:13:51Back and forth
00:13:52and ended out
00:13:54and back and forth again.
00:13:58For we are strong people
00:14:00and we will come out of this
00:14:01and be on top again.
00:14:04I do believe.
00:14:12The bills keep stacking up
00:14:15with no money coming in.
00:14:21I've got to get my hair done.
00:14:23He's got to get his money.
00:14:26I'm going to go back
00:14:26looking fly.
00:14:29I'm just looking for the future.
00:14:33I'm not going to stop
00:14:34doing what I'm doing
00:14:34because I'm a provider,
00:14:36so my mind is set
00:14:38on what I have to do.
00:14:40Be a grandpa.
00:14:41You know, be a dad.
00:14:43Be an uncle.
00:14:48The coronavirus pandemic
00:14:50is putting an end
00:14:51to the longest economic expansion
00:14:53in U.S. history.
00:14:54We are going
00:14:54into a global recession.
00:14:57There we go.
00:14:59That's looking nice.
00:15:00You look so happy about it.
00:15:03Turn around
00:15:04so I can see the back.
00:15:10Look as grumpy
00:15:11as you possibly can.
00:15:16Mental health
00:15:17is important to me.
00:15:18I lost my brother
00:15:20to suicide
00:15:20just three years ago.
00:15:23When we say economy,
00:15:25sometimes we just think
00:15:25of finances as a whole
00:15:27of society,
00:15:28but instead,
00:15:29I see my brother.
00:15:30His business was going down.
00:15:32That triggered the stress,
00:15:34which triggered his health issues,
00:15:35which triggered
00:15:36his mental health issues,
00:15:37and he was gone in 60 days.
00:15:39This is my brother, Brian.
00:15:48I wanted to save other families
00:15:50from going through
00:15:51what we went through.
00:15:52Sorry.
00:15:53So,
00:15:54that's why I became
00:15:55so passionate
00:15:56about not shutting things down,
00:15:58letting people choose.
00:16:01Are we sheep
00:16:02or are we people?
00:16:04Are we people?
00:16:06Let's go to work!
00:16:08You take away
00:16:09people's connections,
00:16:10their hobbies,
00:16:11their friends,
00:16:12their worship,
00:16:13their work,
00:16:14and everyone's
00:16:15going to be depressed.
00:16:17And I am so blessed
00:16:18to have a family
00:16:19of children and a husband,
00:16:20but what about
00:16:21the people who don't?
00:16:22It's heartbreaking.
00:16:23God bless America,
00:16:28my home sweet home.
00:16:39Yeah.
00:16:40Good morning,
00:16:41Second Baptist.
00:16:42Praise the Lord.
00:16:42Everybody.
00:16:44Our seniors,
00:16:45amen,
00:16:46because of COVID-19
00:16:47should not be
00:16:48out and about.
00:16:50That's right.
00:16:50Like some of us are.
00:16:51my immune system
00:16:53is weakened.
00:16:55So,
00:16:56I have learned
00:16:57to love being alone.
00:16:59I have learned
00:17:00to be pretty darn comfortable.
00:17:03Endeavor
00:17:04for all
00:17:07you've done
00:17:09for me.
00:17:12I am one of these people
00:17:14that still walk around
00:17:15wondering,
00:17:16do I have COVID?
00:17:19to be a COVID-19
00:17:19one person
00:17:20that passed,
00:17:22I knew her
00:17:23very,
00:17:24very,
00:17:24very,
00:17:25very,
00:17:25very,
00:17:25very well.
00:17:27And she was
00:17:28healthy as she could be.
00:17:31Words just can't
00:17:32describe how
00:17:33this makes me feel.
00:17:34Repentance
00:17:35and real
00:17:35reconciliation
00:17:37because they did this.
00:17:39I'm now
00:17:39going to do this
00:17:40because
00:17:40the people
00:17:41are going to do this.
00:17:43I'm going to do this.
00:17:45I'm going to do this.
00:17:46I'm going to do this.
00:17:47I'm going to do this.
00:17:47I'm going to do this.
00:17:49Ammo.
00:17:50Head to ammo.
00:17:51Back right.
00:17:52Do you want
00:17:53one of those targets?
00:17:54We're going to shoot
00:17:55later today.
00:17:56Sure.
00:17:58No, we're not
00:17:59getting that target.
00:18:00How about
00:18:00each of you
00:18:01get to pick
00:18:01one target?
00:18:05Here,
00:18:05let's check out here.
00:18:07See if we can.
00:18:09I don't need
00:18:09a mask, man.
00:18:12Thanks.
00:18:13Harness at it twice.
00:18:16Who was that?
00:18:17That lady,
00:18:18she mentioned masks
00:18:18and she walked by me
00:18:19and then she just
00:18:20mentioned masks again
00:18:21and then she walked by her.
00:18:22You're a boy?
00:18:23No, I'm a customer.
00:18:24I want my kids
00:18:25to start looking
00:18:26at the facts
00:18:27across the board
00:18:29and let them
00:18:29make their own decisions
00:18:31even starting
00:18:32at a young age.
00:18:43I think overall
00:18:45freedoms are
00:18:46majorly at risk.
00:18:48We should all
00:18:49have the right
00:18:50to make our own
00:18:50decisions for ourselves.
00:18:52A good firm grip
00:18:53squeeze the trigger.
00:19:17Okay, I really hope
00:19:18this internet thing works.
00:19:19Hey, Irene,
00:19:20can you hear us?
00:19:21Yeah.
00:19:23If we can catch
00:19:24it right in the middle.
00:19:28I saw her picture
00:19:29on MySpace.
00:19:31Wow, we just started
00:19:32talking from there.
00:19:34All right,
00:19:34one second,
00:19:35then we're going
00:19:35to turn the table.
00:19:36So welcome, Jason.
00:19:38Welcome, Young Thiet.
00:19:39We're going to be
00:19:40sharing in the joy
00:19:41and the celebration
00:19:42of a very special occasion.
00:19:44When I proposed,
00:19:46I asked her
00:19:47if she was going
00:19:48to marry me
00:19:49and then she slapped me.
00:19:50Well, you know,
00:19:53I always think like,
00:19:54oh, if someone
00:19:54proposed me,
00:19:55I would slap
00:19:56like him in the face
00:19:58just to make sure
00:19:59that he like,
00:20:00you know,
00:20:00he know what he's doing.
00:20:02And then he got
00:20:03kind of scared
00:20:04a little bit
00:20:04and then I was like,
00:20:05oh, yes.
00:20:07And just look
00:20:08into each other's eyes.
00:20:11Please welcome
00:20:11your marriage
00:20:12with a kiss.
00:20:18You can remove
00:20:19your masks
00:20:20if you want.
00:20:26I'm hoping
00:20:27that this whole
00:20:28pandemic,
00:20:29it goes away.
00:20:30Then we'll be able
00:20:31to open up a shop
00:20:32normally again
00:20:33and maybe we'll
00:20:36get a kid.
00:21:00when the COVID-19
00:21:02pandemic started,
00:21:04we were left
00:21:06without any guidance.
00:21:08doctors like me,
00:21:09we kind of all
00:21:10had to make it up
00:21:11on the fly.
00:21:12My hands are sweaty.
00:21:14I can't get the gloves on.
00:21:16It took weeks
00:21:18looking at studies
00:21:20and data
00:21:22from other countries
00:21:23to figure out
00:21:24the processes
00:21:25to manage patients.
00:21:27This takes between
00:21:28one and three days
00:21:29to get a result.
00:21:30Sorry.
00:21:34Man,
00:21:35this is annoying.
00:21:37We're suffering
00:21:39much worse
00:21:40than we would have
00:21:42had we had
00:21:42a competent,
00:21:44science-based
00:21:45head of state.
00:21:49The number of deaths
00:21:50in the United States
00:21:51has now reached
00:21:52a stunning 50,000.
00:21:54Had at least
00:21:55one underlying
00:21:56health issue.
00:21:57A new effort
00:21:57to keep Chicagoans
00:21:58safe during
00:21:59the COVID-19 pandemic.
00:22:09Come on, guys.
00:22:17You're wearing
00:22:17your mask wrong.
00:22:19Come over your nose.
00:22:22In early April
00:22:23is when I started
00:22:24feeling lightheaded,
00:22:26dizzy.
00:22:27I was coughing.
00:22:29I lost my sense
00:22:30of taste and smell.
00:22:32One day,
00:22:33I woke up.
00:22:34I was so weak.
00:22:35I just fell over.
00:22:40I was like,
00:22:40okay,
00:22:41I really need to
00:22:41go to the emergency room.
00:22:48They, like,
00:22:49immediately,
00:22:49like, put me
00:22:50in a room,
00:22:51didn't even ask me
00:22:51my name or anything.
00:22:55I remember
00:22:56a doctor came in
00:22:57and told me,
00:22:58we're pretty sure
00:22:59we're going to
00:23:00have to intubate you.
00:23:01Do you have someone
00:23:02that can make
00:23:03medical decisions
00:23:04for you?
00:23:07Then,
00:23:08um,
00:23:09it's just kind of
00:23:10a blur
00:23:10what happened
00:23:11after I got
00:23:11intubated.
00:23:19the day
00:23:19they told us
00:23:20that Myra,
00:23:21um,
00:23:22it was her last day,
00:23:23uh,
00:23:24we're all
00:23:24in the trampoline,
00:23:26just,
00:23:26my mom was crying.
00:23:28Um,
00:23:29my sisters,
00:23:30all my aunts
00:23:31were there.
00:23:32They were crying.
00:23:33They didn't know
00:23:34what to do.
00:23:35And we were just
00:23:36planning, um,
00:23:37to go pick up,
00:23:38uh,
00:23:38a corpse.
00:23:40I was trying
00:23:40to avoid it.
00:23:42I love you so much.
00:23:45Uh-oh.
00:23:49My name is
00:23:49Myra Amirez.
00:23:51I'm 28 years old,
00:23:52and I am the first,
00:23:53um,
00:23:55lung,
00:23:56double lung
00:23:56transplant patient
00:23:57due to COVID-19
00:23:59in the U.S.
00:24:03The attempted arrest
00:24:05was caught on camera.
00:24:06The video of last night's
00:24:07confrontation
00:24:07shows a white police
00:24:09officer
00:24:09with his knee
00:24:10pinning down
00:24:11the neck of the...
00:24:11His name was
00:24:12George Floyd.
00:24:13He's on video
00:24:14saying,
00:24:14please,
00:24:15please,
00:24:15please,
00:24:16I can't breathe.
00:24:17A Minneapolis
00:24:18police officer
00:24:19holds him down
00:24:19for a minute.
00:24:20No justice,
00:24:21no peace.
00:24:22Prosecute the police.
00:24:23The outrage
00:24:24began with a video
00:24:25showing an officer
00:24:26kneeling on Floyd's neck.
00:24:27How many times
00:24:28have we watched
00:24:29police officers
00:24:30running through?
00:24:32Yeah!
00:24:34Crowds of protesters
00:24:35facing off
00:24:36with officers
00:24:37in lion gear.
00:24:38Whoa!
00:24:40Whoa!
00:24:42Whoa!
00:24:43Whoa!
00:24:43Whoa!
00:24:43Whoa!
00:24:50And just one
00:24:51of these
00:24:52aggressive
00:24:53rulers
00:24:53wants to crack,
00:24:56the entire
00:24:56system will crumble.
00:24:58Yeah!
00:25:00We're already fighting
00:25:01a common terror,
00:25:03which is COVID,
00:25:04and now this now?
00:25:05You know?
00:25:06People are just pissed
00:25:06off, like,
00:25:07this is just ridiculous.
00:25:08how can you kill
00:25:09this man?
00:25:09The real history
00:25:11of the United States!
00:25:13The fact that it
00:25:14happened in my
00:25:15neighborhood
00:25:16was what really
00:25:17pulled me into it.
00:25:21As far as the
00:25:22volunteering efforts
00:25:22go,
00:25:23so far you're our
00:25:24go-to volunteer
00:25:25coordinator, right?
00:25:26Yeah.
00:25:26So we really have
00:25:27to get her engaged
00:25:28with them.
00:25:30A lot of guys
00:25:31from the neighborhood
00:25:32decided to get together
00:25:33and create
00:25:34the 10K Foundation.
00:25:35We wanted to show
00:25:36that we could have
00:25:37a peaceful protest.
00:25:3810K is about
00:25:39mobilizing 10,000 people
00:25:41and the power in that,
00:25:43the sovereignty
00:25:44and being able
00:25:44to mobilize.
00:25:45I grew up here
00:25:46in the Twin Cities.
00:25:47I felt ashamed
00:25:48that this had
00:25:49happened in Minnesota.
00:25:50All at once,
00:25:51I started to see,
00:25:52you know,
00:25:53the state
00:25:53as a real
00:25:55tyrannical entity
00:25:56with corporations
00:25:57and state government
00:25:58and the police.
00:26:00I was like,
00:26:00oh, these,
00:26:02it's us versus them.
00:26:04This is kind of
00:26:05going to be like
00:26:05our pillars for 10K
00:26:06right now.
00:26:07enough safety.
00:26:08It's really police
00:26:09and prisons.
00:26:10Public health,
00:26:11we have the prison system.
00:26:12Prisons,
00:26:12you have policing.
00:26:13Yes.
00:26:16I made a lot
00:26:17of bad decisions
00:26:18when I was younger.
00:26:19Getting in fights,
00:26:20had an assault charge,
00:26:22things like that.
00:26:24There was a moment
00:26:24where, you know,
00:26:25some guys broke
00:26:26into my house
00:26:27and tried to rob me
00:26:27and they ended up
00:26:28shooting me.
00:26:31I got shot three times,
00:26:32twice in my stomach,
00:26:33one in my back.
00:26:37And I remember
00:26:37sitting there waiting
00:26:39for the ambulance
00:26:39to come.
00:26:40I'm sitting there
00:26:40bleeding out.
00:26:41It still hits me
00:26:43to this day
00:26:43thinking about
00:26:43that kind of stuff,
00:26:44you know?
00:26:47Yeah,
00:26:47I'm getting teary-eyed
00:26:48a little bit
00:26:48thinking about it.
00:26:51Every single day
00:26:52I've been waiting
00:26:53for this moment,
00:26:54a time where we can
00:26:55stand up for what is right.
00:26:57And for so long,
00:26:58many of us
00:26:58were always waiting
00:26:59for somebody else
00:27:00to do it.
00:27:01People,
00:27:02the time is right now.
00:27:05Can everybody say
00:27:05that one time?
00:27:06On the count of three,
00:27:07say the time is now.
00:27:08One, two, three.
00:27:09The time is now.
00:27:10Say it again.
00:27:11The time is now.
00:27:12I hear.
00:27:13The time is now.
00:27:14The time is right now.
00:27:26When you think about
00:27:27the historical context
00:27:28of black men,
00:27:29black people
00:27:29in this country
00:27:30in general,
00:27:31when we wake up
00:27:31in the morning,
00:27:32there's no good reason
00:27:33for us to have any faith
00:27:34in the state.
00:27:38Let's start the diet
00:27:39right now.
00:27:4046 seconds.
00:27:56Protesters have been
00:27:57on the streets
00:27:57of Richmond
00:27:58for several weeks now.
00:27:59One-time capital
00:28:00of the Confederacy
00:28:01is in the throes
00:28:02of change
00:28:02as statues commemorating
00:28:04Confederate leaders
00:28:05come down.
00:28:10I'm going in
00:28:10from over here.
00:28:15You know,
00:28:16they really did
00:28:17hit these streets.
00:28:19I'm deadly
00:28:20afraid of covert.
00:28:21But I decided
00:28:22one Sunday
00:28:23and said,
00:28:24you know what?
00:28:25I'm stepping out
00:28:25on faith.
00:28:26I'm going down
00:28:27to see what it's about.
00:28:33I'm at the monument
00:28:34right now
00:28:35as we speak.
00:28:36Having big fun, man.
00:28:42Each experience
00:28:44I had out here
00:28:45has been different.
00:28:48I come early
00:28:49and I leave
00:28:50before it gets
00:28:51too late.
00:29:02One evening
00:29:03I didn't understand
00:29:04what was happening
00:29:05when I saw like
00:29:0614 police cars
00:29:07coming up
00:29:08in front of the area.
00:29:13and I just begged
00:29:14them to allow
00:29:15me to go
00:29:16to my car
00:29:16and leave.
00:29:17I just want
00:29:17to go home, please.
00:29:19I just want
00:29:20to go home.
00:29:23My car
00:29:24is on the ground.
00:29:25I can't get out.
00:29:27Can you go
00:29:27in your car?
00:29:28We'll be out of here
00:29:29just a second.
00:29:29We'll be out of here
00:29:30just a second.
00:29:30You can go in your car.
00:29:32And they were
00:29:33very kind.
00:29:34They even helped
00:29:35me get out
00:29:35and I was gone.
00:29:39Caucasian people,
00:29:40white people
00:29:41that I've known
00:29:41for years
00:29:42are very decent
00:29:44people on the surface.
00:29:45I don't understand
00:29:47why they can't
00:29:48see
00:29:49what we're seeing.
00:29:55if anybody
00:29:56had told us
00:29:56this was going
00:29:57to end up happening
00:29:58nobody would
00:29:59have believed it.
00:30:00No.
00:30:00I like to say
00:30:01racism out there.
00:30:02That's what it is.
00:30:04I got more
00:30:04black friends
00:30:05than I could
00:30:05ever imagine.
00:30:06I got one black
00:30:07friend that I
00:30:07specifically tell
00:30:08people that
00:30:08that's my brother.
00:30:11And we talk
00:30:12about it all the time.
00:30:13It's ridiculous, man.
00:30:15People that are
00:30:15doing all this
00:30:16are just out
00:30:16just to wreck stuff.
00:30:17My same buddy
00:30:18that I called
00:30:18my brother
00:30:19he said it too.
00:30:20He said,
00:30:20man,
00:30:20it's crazy
00:30:21because they say
00:30:22it's a Black Lives
00:30:23Matter thing
00:30:23but yet they're
00:30:24going in
00:30:24and destroying
00:30:25old black
00:30:26people's businesses
00:30:27that live in Richmond.
00:30:28Yeah.
00:30:29You know what I mean?
00:30:31Yeah, they're not
00:30:31I don't know
00:30:32how everything
00:30:33got so race-oriented
00:30:35all of a sudden
00:30:35here within the past
00:30:36year, honestly.
00:30:40That kind of
00:30:41blows my mind.
00:30:44So as far
00:30:45as the platform
00:30:46or the cause
00:30:47that the Black Lives
00:30:48Matter rallies are for,
00:30:49I think raising awareness
00:30:51for police brutality,
00:30:54sure,
00:30:54if you want to focus
00:30:55on any aspect of it
00:30:56that could have
00:30:57a positive effect
00:30:58on the American people,
00:31:00you could bring up
00:31:01that one aspect of it.
00:31:04But it doesn't just
00:31:05happen to Black folks.
00:31:07It happens to white folks.
00:31:08It happens to Asian folks.
00:31:10It happens across
00:31:11all walks of life
00:31:13no matter what color
00:31:14you are,
00:31:15no matter what race
00:31:15you are.
00:31:17Are we jumping?
00:31:19We all need to work
00:31:20together in a common cause
00:31:21to defend our freedoms.
00:31:24Not to fight
00:31:25against each other
00:31:26and empower
00:31:28more regulation
00:31:29against us.
00:31:35Black power!
00:31:36Black power!
00:31:38Black power!
00:31:39Black power!
00:31:40Black power!
00:31:41Black power!
00:31:42Black power!
00:31:43The fight is real,
00:31:44but it's always been here.
00:31:46Now it's to the surface
00:31:47in 2020.
00:31:49Now where do we go
00:31:50from here?
00:31:55It's mainly just for
00:31:56insurance purposes.
00:31:58If it did get vandalized
00:32:54Quando eu first woke up da minha transparência,
00:33:27...
00:33:28.
00:33:28.
00:33:28.
00:33:28.
00:33:29.
00:33:29.
00:33:36.
00:33:36.
00:33:36.
00:33:36.
00:33:37.
00:33:37.
00:33:37.
00:33:37.
00:33:37.
00:33:37.
00:33:39.
00:33:39.
00:33:39.
00:34:08I shouldn't have to have felt obligated to do so
00:34:11just because I needed my health insurance to recover.
00:34:21I'm going to have to put this on now.
00:34:25You're supposed to find people that represent you.
00:34:27Donald Trump cannot represent me.
00:34:29He does not represent my beliefs.
00:34:31Of course, I can't vote for Joe Biden for the very same reason.
00:34:41I will sleep good tonight because someday, as a Christian,
00:34:46I believe Christ will return and all wrongs will be righted
00:34:50and justice will prevail.
00:34:51My job is to keep speaking the truth as a minister.
00:34:57Do you have a pen?
00:34:58You've got to put your address.
00:35:00It literally says on the top.
00:35:01It's going to invalidate if you don't sign it.
00:35:07I would rather not say who I voted for.
00:35:10I just want her to come back to normal.
00:35:11That's all I'm praying for, really.
00:35:14I just vote for myself.
00:35:15Or I vote for the lady.
00:35:16No, I vote for the lady.
00:35:18You voted for that lady.
00:35:19You never know her name.
00:35:20I don't know who she is,
00:35:22but it seems like she's the only lady.
00:35:24So I vote for the lady.
00:35:27I vote for the woman.
00:35:30Well, you have a right to do that.
00:35:34Joe Biden, now in the lead in Pennsylvania,
00:35:37in the lead in Georgia.
00:35:38Putting him over the 270 electoral votes he needs.
00:35:41Joe Biden has been elected the 46th president of the United States.
00:35:45The people of this nation have spoken.
00:35:48They've delivered us a clear victory,
00:35:51a convincing victory.
00:36:00I was relieved to the point where it's like,
00:36:03okay, this step has been handled.
00:36:05Now, what's the next step?
00:36:06You know, it's not over.
00:36:07This is just the beginning.
00:36:08What do you guys think of the election?
00:36:10Oh, yeah!
00:36:12We're good.
00:36:12We're good.
00:36:13Meantime, the Trump campaign is promising
00:36:15a new round of lawsuits today.
00:36:18Trump tonight, again, falsely claiming victory.
00:36:20Still fueling his supporters,
00:36:21pledging it isn't over yet.
00:36:23Across the country,
00:36:24pro-Trump protesters gathering at state capitals.
00:36:31I really was just so sick of politics.
00:36:34I wanted to write in Jesus.
00:36:36But that doesn't do anything.
00:36:38So I was surprised.
00:36:40I felt prompted to vote for Trump.
00:36:44No, we're not standing down.
00:36:45We're here.
00:36:46We're going to stand.
00:36:47We're going to stand fast.
00:36:48We're going to wait for orders.
00:36:49And when those orders come down...
00:36:53I have no regrets about voting for the Libertarian candidate.
00:36:58I'm tired of people voting for the lesser of two evils.
00:37:03Wouldn't really matter who got in office.
00:37:05I feel like they're one of the same.
00:37:07I think our culture is going to stay divided.
00:37:10The division that has been created here recently
00:37:13is something that we've regressed to
00:37:17that's going to take generations to recover.
00:37:20I think our culture is going to be horribly scarred by this.
00:37:27Our country is deeply divided.
00:37:29We have class divisions.
00:37:33We have racial divisions.
00:37:35It's like there's two completely different realities.
00:37:40Anyone who thinks that the election getting called
00:37:44is the end of the work that needs to be done...
00:37:46All right, this is a nasal swab...
00:37:48...is mistaken.
00:37:53Kenny, look at me.
00:37:56Mirame.
00:37:59I had to undergo this other procedure.
00:38:03And this is what it looked like after.
00:38:07Sometimes before, when I used to feel so bad,
00:38:10I would have these fevers and these night chills
00:38:12and I'd just feel so bad.
00:38:13I'm like, what if I don't wake up in the morning?
00:38:18I'm grateful that I have my family,
00:38:21but I also want to have some sort of quality of life.
00:38:26I don't want to live a life where it hurts to laugh.
00:38:34There's just so much I want to do.
00:38:36Happy birthday to you.
00:38:41Happy birthday to you.
00:38:45Happy birthday to you.
00:39:02The White House says one million people
00:39:04have now died from COVID-19 here in the U.S.
00:39:07The death toll is more than the number of American deaths
00:39:10from World War I, World War II, the Korean War
00:39:12and the Vietnam War combined.
00:39:20Thousands of supporters of President Trump
00:39:22stormed the U.S. Capitol building.
00:39:24We back up the wall.
00:39:26And I will faithfully execute
00:39:27the office of President of the United States.
00:39:30Office of President of the United States.
00:39:32Then a federal grand jury has voted
00:39:35to indict the former president.
00:39:36Second impeachment trial is set to start tomorrow.
00:39:40Derek Chauvin guilty on all three counts.
00:39:44The state of Virginia
00:39:45bringing down the symbols of a hateful past.
00:39:47General Robert E. Lee.
00:39:51Roe versus Wade is overruled.
00:39:53Thousands of people today turned out to take a stand for abortion rights.
00:39:57The end of 472 days of COVID restrictions.
00:40:00Warning, however, that the virus is here to stay.
00:40:04Rising costs and recession fears are...
00:40:06Small businesses struggling to stay afloat.
00:40:09Protests against Israel's war in Gaza continues.
00:40:12It's another wedge in America's political divide.
00:40:15Donald Trump will be running for president again in 2024.
00:40:18Shots have apparently been fired.
00:40:20Failed assassination attempt at former President Donald Trump.
00:40:23President Biden takes himself out of the run for the White House.
00:40:26Kamala Harris became the first woman of color
00:40:28to accept the presidential nomination.
00:40:48Has our America gotten better?
00:40:53You decide.
00:40:55Because I know it hasn't been better.
00:40:59Poland was good to me, man.
00:41:01You know, I paid my dues.
00:41:04Right.
00:41:05And all that s***.
00:41:06I paid more taxes than Trump paid up here, man.
00:41:10So where's that tax money go to?
00:41:11I guess the city.
00:41:12The city, okay.
00:41:13And the city, you know, folks keep the roads repaired.
00:41:16Well, the roads ain't been repaired around here.
00:41:19S***, so many pot holes and stuff around here.
00:41:20Yeah.
00:41:25Alright.
00:41:27You coated everywhere?
00:41:33I think it's very likely that Hudson will end up in the military.
00:41:36Yeah, but he's taller than you.
00:41:38It's not because he's wearing heels.
00:41:40There's a bit of inner turmoil
00:41:42with Hudson being in the JROTC program
00:41:46as well as my distrust in the government.
00:41:52You're so much shorter, Mark.
00:41:54That's awesome.
00:41:56I want to continue encouraging, not discouraging,
00:41:59but there might be things that we don't agree with.
00:42:09We can't agree on a blow.
00:42:14Must you?
00:42:16Must I walk?
00:42:18Make it all obvious out in here.
00:42:21You folded flags just fine back in your office.
00:42:24I usually fold them in here.
00:42:27Mm-hmm.
00:42:30Presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
00:42:33I accept your nomination.
00:42:37The United States of America.
00:42:42Maybe some of you guys know me, some of you don't.
00:42:44I'm Ty O'Daniel, one of the founders of this organization, Smart North.
00:42:48And one of the reasons why I really, I'm passionate about how can you add value to your community.
00:42:53Once you figure that out, it doesn't matter who's in office, you're always going to be successful.
00:42:56Because you yourself are valuable and you're adding value to your community.
00:43:01She's in the VR space right now, doing her thing.
00:43:04Yeah, I can't see anything in the real world right now.
00:43:06One of my solutions was creating a non-profit to help inner-city youth.
00:43:13The 10K Foundation had its time, and it ran its course.
00:43:19And we went our separate ways.
00:43:21I was more forward on helping the youth.
00:43:23I believe Royce was more on political moves.
00:43:28In the home of the brave.
00:43:33Woo!
00:43:36Good morning, good afternoon.
00:43:38It's good to see everybody out here.
00:43:39It's always good to see some Trump supporters.
00:43:43I'm one myself.
00:43:44Yeah, good.
00:43:45We don't like socialists.
00:43:47We don't like communists.
00:43:48We don't like Marxists.
00:43:49It's an unacceptable and incompatible form of government and ideology.
00:43:53We've got to protect our borders first.
00:43:55We can't defend everybody else's borders.
00:43:57I'm running for United States Senate here in the state of Minnesota against Amy Klobuchar,
00:44:02and I'm the Republican Party nominee.
00:44:04The mainstream media says Royce White represents a dangerous evolution and movement of the Republican Party nationally.
00:44:11So a lot of people who just read those headlines would think,
00:44:14yeah, I mean, you know, Royce has nothing important to say or nothing of value to say.
00:44:19You know, even though we love black men, we want to protect them, their lives matter,
00:44:23but this black man doesn't have anything important to say.
00:44:25The Second Amendment?
00:44:27Yes.
00:44:27I'm an absolutist.
00:44:29Absolutist?
00:44:29Yep.
00:44:31No Second Amendment laws.
00:44:33AR-15s, you should have them.
00:44:35Nice to meet you.
00:44:36Nice to meet you, sir.
00:44:37Thank you, sir.
00:44:37Appreciate it.
00:44:38Thank you.
00:44:40I was, uh, I was not surprised, you know, that he would decide to pursue office.
00:44:48I was kind of shocked that he went so hard on the Republican side
00:44:51because, you know, a lot of the Republicans are against whatever we were protesting about.
00:44:57These are patriots here, man.
00:44:58I love it.
00:44:59The people that can help get them over.
00:45:00Drinking beer, rock and roll music, and cooking food.
00:45:02I love it.
00:45:03I love it.
00:45:04That's America right there.
00:45:05That's right.
00:45:14For the Kamala Harris campaign, I got involved right away.
00:45:19Are you planning on voting for Kamala Harris and Colin Allred all the way down the ticket?
00:45:23Yes, I am.
00:45:23All right, perfect.
00:45:25Can we count on you to vote for Democrats all the way down the ticket?
00:45:28Yes, I can.
00:45:28You can count on me for that.
00:45:30Amazing.
00:45:32We have the opportunity to elect a progressive black woman as the first female president
00:45:38in the United States.
00:45:40It's a dream come true for me.
00:45:43You can see right across here all the Trump signs.
00:45:48In what is going to be the biggest political phoenix from the ashes story.
00:45:54Former President Donald Trump has won the 2024 election.
00:45:58This is a huge, historic moment.
00:46:01We will engage in a peaceful transfer of power.
00:46:05Republicans will pull off a political trifecta.
00:46:09And now we prepare for the second coming, if you will, of a Trump administration.
00:46:14America has the chance to seize this opportunity like never before.
00:46:19Trump administration's beginning mass layoffs of federal workers.
00:46:23A record number of executive orders.
00:46:25He's raising tariffs on some Canadian goods by another 10%.
00:46:29The administration wants up to $175 billion to arrest, detain, and remove more people.
00:46:45This is a grapefruit tree, lemon tree, and lime tree.
00:46:51These are both for fun and for our health post-apocalypse.
00:46:57There is really a thing called scurvy.
00:47:00It really does happen to people.
00:47:01So having citrus is super important to that.
00:47:07I'm still the same person who always wanted to be there and help.
00:47:13But I'm much more cynical about my ability to do those things.
00:47:23There was a time where I was very hopeful that we could continue a path towards justice for everybody.
00:47:34That part of me is pretty beaten down.
00:47:44No muddy boots?
00:47:46No.
00:47:47What did you see?
00:47:48I had one throw, but I didn't.
00:47:50I shot it, but I didn't get it.
00:47:53Really?
00:47:53You shot at it?
00:47:55Good.
00:47:55I mean, is your gun open?
00:47:57Open chamber?
00:47:58Yeah.
00:47:59All right.
00:48:00You don't have your finger on that trigger, do you?
00:48:02No.
00:48:03Ada, how did school go?
00:48:04Good.
00:48:05Pops took us to school.
00:48:08What was that face for?
00:48:10Dad, you know how he is.
00:48:12He's a liberal, and he knows that we're Republicans.
00:48:19Not Republicans.
00:48:22We are just conservative-minded.
00:48:26As far as my liking for Trump since he's been elected this second term, I'd say for the first six
00:48:31months, eight months, he really came in, stayed focused on policy.
00:48:35With Doge coming in, trying to actually clean up government waste, I'm like, this is actually really cool.
00:48:40Chainsaw for bureaucracy.
00:48:46Barreling into vast swaths of the federal government and promising to divide and conquer what he sees as the deep
00:48:52state.
00:48:52To have an actual, efficient government is the goal.
00:49:02All right, everybody take Carter Cash.
00:49:04That's going to be Cash.
00:49:05Cash?
00:49:06Have a good night.
00:49:07Yeah, you too.
00:49:07All right.
00:49:09Okay.
00:49:11Jason, you want to get your nails done?
00:49:14Yeah.
00:49:15All right.
00:49:19Our supplies got expensive, but what we did was we bought extra supplies before we knew the terrace were going
00:49:27to go up.
00:49:28I mean, everything went up 20%, 30%, 40%.
00:49:31The suppliers were just like, well, we don't care how much the actual terrace is.
00:49:37It just went up.
00:49:38Yeah, we're just trying not to raise any prices.
00:49:42Because, like, our client usually are, most of them are senior.
00:49:47So they, on their retirement, the bigger nail shop, like, they say that their customer is, like, stopped spending money
00:49:58on, like, stuff like this.
00:50:00Short-term, it's not a good move because everything just goes up overnight.
00:50:07Long-term, it's supposed to help with American manufacturing.
00:50:13It's supposed to improve local economies.
00:50:19But, well, we don't know if, will it actually work?
00:50:28Are you going towards the trunk, like you talked about?
00:50:31Okay.
00:50:32Okay.
00:50:34Okay, you put it on so we can see how far we need it to reach.
00:50:39And where's their pine cones?
00:50:41Do not fall.
00:50:43It's a tree.
00:50:44Okay.
00:50:48And then does it just cycle through the colors?
00:50:51Yeah.
00:50:53Oh, my goodness.
00:50:55How are we doing with rationing the frosting?
00:50:58Do we have enough?
00:50:58Yeah.
00:51:02Around this time last year, I started the process of leaving my husband.
00:51:07And that involved moving a couple of times.
00:51:11I had no clue what our long-term situation was going to be.
00:51:16And then a very kind family rented really cheap to us month to month until we ended up here at
00:51:22a home.
00:51:23Okay.
00:51:24Okay.
00:51:25He's here!
00:51:33Do you have everything you need?
00:51:35Yeah.
00:51:36I think.
00:51:38I love you.
00:51:39I love you.
00:51:39And I'll see you Sunday.
00:51:41See you.
00:51:45I got married one day after I turned 19.
00:51:49And so I was married more of my life than not married.
00:51:56I basically went from obeying my parents to obeying or submitting to a husband.
00:52:01People hate those words now.
00:52:02They're like trigger words.
00:52:03But, you know, just being the wife that I thought I was supposed to be.
00:52:10And I did not get to experience what life is like as an independent adult.
00:52:26Everything seems to be falling apart.
00:52:30I've been battling the house issue for a few years.
00:52:39All of this is what you're seeing now is mold.
00:52:45So all of that has to be replaced.
00:52:50This is the result of a leaky roof.
00:52:55Water got in the attic.
00:52:57And once it dried, this is where it came out at the other end.
00:53:01And now the consequences are very, very, very expensive.
00:53:10My parents always stressed independence is home ownership.
00:53:16My mother, she said, I don't care if it's a box with one bedroom.
00:53:21She said, it's something that's yours.
00:53:25I'm slowly getting on top of it, but it's definitely not easy.
00:53:31You get down and out and you feel like the balls are closing in on you.
00:53:37It's a quick thought and you just shake it off and keep it moving.
00:53:43It's rough out here.
00:53:45It breaks my heart that people that genuinely need the help,
00:53:49they can't even get the help.
00:53:59It's high school up here.
00:54:01I go outside of high school.
00:54:05You mind me asking what?
00:54:10Drugs and alcohol.
00:54:13Is there a drug and alcohol?
00:54:16Yeah.
00:54:18My son's on, I guess, meth.
00:54:25I hadn't heard from him after a couple of weeks.
00:54:33Last time I seen him, I was right here.
00:54:36Give him some food.
00:54:42Trill!
00:54:47Trill!
00:54:50You're trying to show that in my face.
00:54:52Because he's telling me I don't have to say anything to you.
00:54:56Not going to get into that.
00:55:04You know I trail?
00:55:06I'm looking for my son.
00:55:15I'm not going to give up.
00:55:17But it is awfully hard
00:55:20to know
00:55:21that my kid
00:55:24is down here.
00:55:27You know I trail?
00:55:29Huh?
00:55:31He ain't been around here?
00:55:32I'm his dad.
00:55:33I can't.
00:55:36Okay.
00:55:37All right.
00:55:37Thank you.
00:55:38Thank you.
00:55:43This is what my grandkids
00:55:44have to look forward to.
00:55:48Groceries
00:55:48are skyrocketing.
00:55:51Healthcare
00:55:52is out the roof.
00:56:02You got to be supportive.
00:56:04Thank you.
00:56:06You got to be supportive.
00:56:09Yes.
00:56:10Yes.
00:56:10I support you.
00:56:13Everybody deserves a good life.
00:56:17You know?
00:56:28My community center
00:56:29has taken a big hit.
00:56:33There's youth that has reached out to me
00:56:34and said I'm scared to come there
00:56:36because some of their parents
00:56:38may have a problem
00:56:39with immigration status.
00:56:41There's just been a lot of divisiveness
00:56:42and I think that type of trauma
00:56:44just makes the whole community
00:56:46unsure and feel unsafe.
00:56:49What about mass deportations?
00:56:51Is anybody considering mass deportation?
00:56:53And do you believe
00:56:54that has to happen
00:56:55in Minneapolis?
00:56:571,000%
00:56:58with no equivocations.
00:57:00Now, I shouldn't even be able
00:57:01to say that
00:57:01because I'm running for U.S. Senate.
00:57:03This is Royce White's
00:57:04second time running
00:57:05for U.S. Senate.
00:57:07White was the GOP nominee
00:57:08for U.S. Senate
00:57:09in 2024 as well
00:57:11losing that election
00:57:12to Senator Amy Klobuchar.
00:57:14I'm going to run
00:57:15until I die.
00:57:17Because it would be dishonest
00:57:19if I didn't give
00:57:20the American people
00:57:21this message
00:57:22and this option
00:57:24when they go
00:57:25to cast their ballot.
00:57:28You gave an interview
00:57:30with Steve Bannon
00:57:31and you said
00:57:34Somalis
00:57:35must be
00:57:37you're in support
00:57:38of mass deportation
00:57:40of Somalis.
00:57:42Yeah, I think the deportations
00:57:44must begin.
00:57:46What the MAGA movement
00:57:47is saying is
00:57:47we don't trust
00:57:49the process
00:57:49by which
00:57:52Somalians
00:57:52have immigrated
00:57:53to this country.
00:57:53We don't trust
00:57:54the paperwork.
00:57:55We don't trust
00:57:55the legitimacy
00:57:56of the process
00:57:57because we can't even
00:57:58trust our own elections.
00:57:59That's all allegation
00:58:01they do.
00:58:02You're triggered.
00:58:03No, you're triggered
00:58:04because when you hear
00:58:05the word Somalian
00:58:06it does something
00:58:08to you personally.
00:58:09And I get that.
00:58:10And all of us
00:58:10will have those things
00:58:11that we feel personal about.
00:58:12But it doesn't change
00:58:13the facts.
00:58:14If you're here illegally
00:58:14you're going to
00:58:15back.
00:58:17Bottom line.
00:58:19That's it.
00:58:23That was classic.
00:58:26Holy cow.
00:58:39My stepmother
00:58:40was calling me
00:58:41and I'm on the phone
00:58:41she's like
00:58:42Tayo
00:58:43she's Nigerian
00:58:44so she has this accent
00:58:45you know
00:58:45Tayo
00:58:46be careful
00:58:47be careful
00:58:48I'm like
00:58:48what's going on
00:58:49she's like
00:58:50they just killed somebody
00:58:51they just killed a woman
00:58:52they just killed a woman
00:58:53I'm like who
00:58:53she's like
00:58:54Ice
00:59:12Minneapolis is about
00:59:13to go crazy
00:59:16here we go again
00:59:21There are currently
00:59:22about 2,000 ICE agents
00:59:23in the Minneapolis area
00:59:25Can I stop
00:59:26Hartstreet!
00:59:27The Trump administration
00:59:28says it's sending
00:59:29an additional
00:59:29100 to the region
00:59:31this weekend
00:59:31Get the

00:59:49Hush ink!
00:59:50Hush ink!
00:59:50Hush ink!
00:59:51Hush ink!
00:59:53Minha comunidade está na parte de onde René Goode foi morto.
01:00:00Eu acho que ela tem um flor.
01:00:04A próxima vez eu vou trazer um.
01:00:06René Goode!
01:00:08René Goode!
01:00:09René Goode!
01:00:10René Goode!
01:00:12René Goode!
01:00:13René Goode!
01:00:13René Goode!
01:00:14Minha dad came from the slums, man.
01:00:17He was born in Nigeria.
01:00:18René Goode!
01:00:20He came over here
01:00:21for the same reason everybody else is trying to come here
01:00:23for an opportunity to better life for his future children.
01:00:27I was born here in America.
01:00:29René Goode, René Right Here!
01:00:29Otherwise, that might be one of those trucks right now.
01:00:35Not even if I got a wake-up-call
01:00:36because everybody started to die down
01:00:39and the whole joy flowing situation.
01:00:42It's sad, man.
01:00:42It's exhausting today.
01:00:56Alright, so your table leader has got specific questions that they're going to ask.
01:01:02There's actually a biblical principle, and we want to talk about that,
01:01:06and it's called the natural law of jurisdiction.
01:01:11What would you do?
01:01:12How's the idea of jurisdiction connected to the issue of legitimate authority?
01:01:19Think about, like, in our world, legitimate authority that has been misused.
01:01:28Exactly, Jana.
01:01:29They did not have the authority to do that, did they?
01:01:34I don't know a ton about politics.
01:01:39I don't care that much.
01:01:43I mean, it's important.
01:01:45It's very important.
01:01:46But it's not my forte.
01:01:48It's my dad's thing.
01:01:51Just a few days ago, the president of the United States ordered a combination of law enforcement and military
01:01:58to strike in an act of war, missiles were launched, rockets exploded, between 80 and 100 people died.
01:02:11And then our soldiers in combination with law enforcement apparently went in, and they captured the president and his wife.
01:02:21And you have to think about that.
01:02:24You have to know how to tell when someone is using authority in a righteous and legitimate way.
01:02:31But when someone misuses authority, and some authority is going outside their jurisdiction, and when they step outside their jurisdiction,
01:02:40you have to say, okay, hold on a minute.
01:02:48This brings us to the concept of a big fancy word called imperialism.
01:02:53You stop respecting the boundaries and jurisdictions of all other nations, and you start forcing the world to comply with
01:03:01your national will, and it's wrong.
01:03:04And when you flip the table, and you flip the table, and you flip the table, and you flip the
01:03:06table, and have that happen to your city, and your nation, you say, hey, this is America.
01:03:12You don't have a right to, that's, that, we would call that a what?
01:03:16An act of war.
01:03:27The United States has unleashed Operation Epic Fury on several targets in Iran.
01:03:36Tonight, Israeli and American missile strikes lighting up the skies over Iran for a ninth straight day.
01:03:50When you go into the Air Force, obviously, you want to go in and fly.
01:03:54Yeah.
01:03:55Everybody that's going into the Air Force wants to fly.
01:03:58Like, have you given it any thought to what your backup thing would be?
01:04:01Hmm.
01:04:04Not necessarily.
01:04:05I mean, flying is really fun to do.
01:04:08I mean, it's something peaceful, especially on the simulator.
01:04:12It's very peaceful to do, and like, get to go out.
01:04:15Will it be that peaceful if you're being shot at while you're flying?
01:04:17And then it's just more adrenaline.
01:04:21So now you're just an adrenaline junkie.
01:04:23Mm-hmm.
01:04:24My wife and I have talked about this.
01:04:26We've talked about it with him.
01:04:29We don't like the idea of him going to fight a war as a political pawn.
01:04:40Let's just say you get sent to war tomorrow in Iran, and you're tasked with something that maybe you don't
01:04:49necessarily agree with.
01:04:50There's been stories about bombs being dropped on schools.
01:04:55You know, known civilian targets that are, you know, wiping out masses of kids.
01:05:04And I don't care on what side.
01:05:05I'm just saying in general.
01:05:08Yeah, I've never really thought about that.
01:05:11Yeah.
01:05:18For me, going into the military, it's more about, like, the experience and what I can get from it.
01:05:26I want to know that I can be there for my parents and my family.
01:05:33Now, most of the times, all the guys that I see, they're scrawny, honestly.
01:05:38Like, they look like they couldn't put up a fight.
01:05:41And I feel like if you're going to be a man of a house one day, like, that is not
01:05:46how you should be.
01:05:47Being masculine is taking your own path and following and what you believe is right and what you want to
01:05:53do.
01:05:54Yes.
01:05:56I love seeing him proud.
01:06:00My boy looks good all dressed up in a uniform.
01:06:03You know, he's confident.
01:06:05I mean, he's, I'm proud of him.
01:06:09Very proud.
01:06:10And I'm, I'm not going to tell him he can't do something, but I also want him to be fully
01:06:17informed.
01:06:31We're going to get dropped off at 918.
01:06:34Is that going to give you enough?
01:06:40Okay, I'm going to message the guy that we're meeting.
01:06:45Edmundo?
01:06:46Hi.
01:06:47Hi.
01:06:48Christine.
01:06:49Okay.
01:06:51Right now, my husband and I are pursuing residency in Mexico.
01:06:57Okay, bye.
01:06:58Good luck.
01:06:59Good luck.
01:07:00We need a place to go if things just don't go the way we want them to go.
01:07:06We are constantly looking and reassessing and watching and want to be ready should that time come.
01:07:15Hey.
01:07:17Where's your card?
01:07:18It's in my pocket.
01:07:19Okay.
01:07:20Awesome.
01:07:21So excited.
01:07:29Dear Heavenly Father, please be with the kids while they are away that they will be protected and have a
01:07:34good time and feel thy love and guidance.
01:07:38I have totally new compassion and understanding for the people I've spoke with that say they stopped going to church
01:07:45because they've lost trust in institutions.
01:07:47I sought help from religious leaders in regards to struggles in my marriage and there was a lot of pain
01:07:55and bitterness involved when I was processing, sorry, just looking back at how much I was suffering and hurting and
01:08:08it was minimized and not fully understood.
01:08:17So when we talk about faith, I don't think about religion.
01:08:20Religion has failed me.
01:08:25Are you excited?
01:08:27You know where we're going?
01:08:29My former spouse, he hated dogs, so I love having a dog in the house.
01:08:34I wanted one ever since I was a kid.
01:08:38I'm going to school.
01:08:39I now have a degree in mind that I want to get having to do with family services to help
01:08:44families that are going through tough times.
01:08:47Okay, do you want me to throw it?
01:08:49We'll get it.
01:08:50I am now Amy Kelly and officially divorced, mom of six kids, love and life.
01:09:13My dad hired me to oversee our educational operations at our church.
01:09:20Class begins on Friday, November the 6th, and then I'm going to hit okay.
01:09:26I love sitting with my dad and getting to learn from him.
01:09:31He's so wise in so many areas.
01:09:33I don't have a lot of experience with this, but it needs to be done.
01:09:39It needs to be done.
01:09:41I had wanted to be a doctor when I graduated.
01:09:45At the end of the day, I would rather be in the will of God than be selfish and do
01:09:52what I would prefer.
01:09:55Because I would really be miserable if I was just only doing what I wanted.
01:10:03Ella exhibits leadership and courage and confidence.
01:10:08I think she would make a wonderful pastor's wife.
01:10:12And I think that probably that's going to be her role.
01:10:17Amazing grace, how sweet the sun
01:10:24That saved a wretch like me
01:10:33I once was lost
01:10:37But now I am found
01:10:41I was blind
01:10:43But now I see
01:10:48I'm supposed to serve my dad
01:10:52And I think I'm supposed to marry a pastor
01:10:55And that is an honorable role
01:10:57I don't see that as lesser in any way
01:11:04Look at this
01:11:08My granddaughter, Corrielle
01:11:10I want to be able to spend time with her
01:11:13And do ice cream
01:11:15Okay, I go run
01:11:17Okay, go put on some socks and some sneakers
01:11:23It's just hard, man
01:11:24I never thought that, you know, life would be hard
01:11:28But it really is
01:11:31And the people that think it's not
01:11:33They got, they got given some stuff
01:11:36They got a head start
01:11:39I got a second job
01:11:44Just to be able to be in position to help
01:11:50I'm praying for a break
01:11:56Yeah, there it is
01:11:59Awesome
01:11:59But at least it didn't get down
01:12:02Hold on, hold on, go back to this photo
01:12:04It doesn't look like it
01:12:05Like all that black mold on the ceiling
01:12:07It doesn't look like it came down into the walls
01:12:09Yeah
01:12:09Look at all the mold and the insulation
01:12:12I saw a gentleman named Mark on the film
01:12:17My name is Mark Curtis
01:12:19I own a construction company
01:12:21And then I discovered that he was from the outskirts of Richmond
01:12:25Oh yeah, look at this all washed out over here
01:12:28Yeah, oh yeah
01:12:29That washed out
01:12:31Oh, good grief
01:12:32Huh?
01:12:33That's bad
01:12:33Yeah
01:12:34You want to have stairs rebuilt in this thing?
01:12:37What do you think?
01:12:38I mean, it'd probably be nice
01:12:40If you're trying to come down in the yard from up there
01:12:43I say yes then
01:12:45I saw you in an interview
01:12:47Which one?
01:12:48I don't know what one I saw
01:12:50But, you know, we don't agree on a lot of things
01:12:54It don't matter
01:12:56But at the end of the day
01:12:57That's human nature
01:12:58At the end of the day
01:13:00Life is life
01:13:02I just personally have this mindset that anybody really wants Trump wants America white again
01:13:08I said, but trust me, it ain't gonna never be white again
01:13:11Yeah, see, I don't see that
01:13:13And I don't think that that's the case
01:13:16It's an undertone message sent to the white folks saying
01:13:21You think so?
01:13:22I clearly do
01:13:23Make America great again is clearly that
01:13:26I clearly, strongly believe
01:13:28And I didn't budge from it
01:13:30That make America great again
01:13:32Is make it white again
01:13:34We didn't agree
01:13:37My father served his country
01:13:38And the best job he could get was a janitor
01:13:41It was that era where black people just couldn't
01:13:44You know, we weren't on the spectrum to be
01:13:46Much more than what they wanted us to be
01:13:49I think that still happens today
01:13:51Oh, hell yeah, it happened
01:13:52No, no, I'm just talking about our service members
01:13:55Our service members
01:13:55And I don't care, you know, white, black, indifferent, whatever
01:13:58I think so many
01:13:59We agree that race relations is a problem
01:14:03And it's been existing for a long time
01:14:06At least I agreed to that, that it was
01:14:09Well, it was supposed to be about controlling our border
01:14:13Getting fuel prices lowered
01:14:14Getting our interest rates down
01:14:15That's how he advertised it
01:14:18Yes, that's how he advertised it
01:14:21Well, where has that gone now?
01:14:23How much does it cost you to fill up your car now?
01:14:25I drive
01:14:26$60, $70
01:14:27It took me over an hour to drive here this morning
01:14:30Talk about the fuel I'm using up every day
01:14:32Yeah
01:14:33All right, Ms. Lewis, I'm going
01:14:34I'm off to my next appointment
01:14:36I'll see you
01:14:37Bye
01:14:37Bye
01:14:40I would say I am surprised at how
01:14:47Devoted she is, I guess you could say
01:14:49To
01:14:53The racial
01:14:55The racial divide
01:15:03You know, perhaps she
01:15:06Has a very different perspective of that
01:15:08Just based on her experience
01:15:12And people who do have differing opinions
01:15:15Should be able to talk and listen
01:15:18Not just talk
01:15:21So I thought it was a good meeting
01:15:26100 days until the midterm election
01:15:30Redistricting could bolster Republicans
01:15:32Democrats are pursuing five extra seats
01:15:34Rising support for Democratic Socialism
01:15:36Americans no longer trust the very industries and institutions
01:15:40That keep the country afloat
01:15:49I'm weighing out Republican, Democrat, and Libertarian
01:15:52Because those are the three options for the primaries
01:15:54And going to select them according to which individual I feel is best
01:15:59Not the label
01:16:03Our founding fathers built this country on independence
01:16:06And they didn't just want independence as far as they agreed
01:16:10They wanted everybody to have their own beliefs, opinions, and thoughts
01:16:15Freedom means being able to think, act, speak
01:16:20Wish, dream, breathe
01:16:22Anything as you want
01:16:26Uninhibited
01:16:27Thank you
01:16:28Thank you
01:16:30Oh
01:16:33Oh
01:16:33Oh
01:16:36Oh
01:16:37Oh
01:16:37I think we caught the whole
01:16:38Oh, they're all coming for us
01:16:41I haven't really paid attention to midterms really
01:16:44Like because we have a lot of stuff going on
01:16:50Mm
01:16:51Mm
01:16:51Thanks, Evie
01:16:52Mm
01:16:54Mm
01:16:57Evie, come here
01:16:59But hopefully there's some sort of change, you know, that you can actually see
01:17:05Just asking, just a little bit of help here and there would help the middle class really
01:17:10First in the beginning, all the parents first come here, they're having a hard life
01:17:15But then when the kid grow up, their life is going to get easier
01:17:21I want to give birth to a child that's having an easy life, like, because I work hard
01:17:29Over the time, everything will be better
01:17:39I don't want government handouts for anything
01:17:41Where you had it before you, there you go
01:17:44All right
01:17:46I want to know who is truly going to look out for the best interest of not just my family,
01:17:52but it should be all families
01:17:54How can I best take care of my family?
01:18:00M-I-T-A-Y-O
01:18:04All right, let's do it
01:18:06We're going to trade, I got some hot commodity for you
01:18:09All right
01:18:11There we go
01:18:13I watch my family work very hard
01:18:15Thank you guys
01:18:16Not only for their citizenship, but to acclimate in this country
01:18:20And I want people to represent that
01:18:21I want the people who understand that and who support that to be the ones that are in office
01:18:29I did not vote for Royce Wright this time around
01:18:31I wish him the best of luck and I wish him nothing but success
01:18:34But I definitely disagree with many of his views
01:18:41The Republican Party of Minnesota calling on U.S. Senate candidate Royce Wright, one of their own, to suspend his
01:18:49campaign
01:18:49A Minnesota judge ruled there were credible evidence of threats of harm toward his ex-wife and his son
01:18:56White has since gone on the offensive today, sounding off in several social media posts, denying the accusations
01:19:05No, I mean, it's a farce though
01:19:07Asking me to step down from the campaign
01:19:11Has nothing to do with the case
01:19:13It's, you know, it's something they wanted anyway
01:19:16Which is, they're irrelevant anyway
01:19:19Minnesota Republican Party's irrelevant
01:19:37The biggest thing that's coming up that has my attention is the midterm elections
01:19:42It's going to tell us a lot about what the next steps are and what the direction is going to
01:19:50be
01:20:03I'm still in the wait and see phase in terms of whether or not I want to leave the United
01:20:10States permanently
01:20:13It's slower here
01:20:20I just have to make that conscious choice to turn the TV off
01:20:23Put my phone down
01:20:27And breathe
01:20:46It might be my PTSD speaking a little bit
01:20:49But, you know, it's almost inevitable in these times not to have some form of hurt and pain and struggle
01:20:57that people go through regardless of your socioeconomic status
01:21:02I think I figured it out
01:21:06I'm going to paint the lips with some of the smile open
01:21:10So it's going to be a smile like this
01:21:21One day I'm going to make a piece that somebody else will feel those feelings
01:21:26And it'll do something for them and it can live far beyond me
01:21:30You've seen artwork throughout history
01:21:32Used for all different types of activism
01:21:35You know, freedom of expression
01:21:38It's the pulse of the community
01:21:45Just like a human body can have emotions
01:21:56I feel that a body of people can have emotions
01:22:10I feel like people forget how to be neighbors by somebody who may not have the same background as you
01:22:15And people are forgetting how to love somebody that may not love you
01:22:21I think sometimes we look too much on a larger level
01:22:26And we forget about the little things
