00:00we're gonna head out to the wise heart right we make it right call kyle right online and welcome
00:04on adam the bull of the bullpen welcome back adam nick this has been a rough last two minutes for
00:10you yeah story of my life kid i thought i had gotten i thought i had gotten disconnected i was
00:15like did they hang up on me like what happened here you're checking your phone you're like you
00:20still good here and you know what yeah what's going on it's kind of like when uh when the
00:24simpsons decided to to make sure all their characters were yellow so people would mess
00:28with their tv screens to see if they the signal wasn't coming in right i did the same thing there
00:34that was totally intentional yeah i believe that sure you just sold it so well adam we all believe
00:42exactly what you said all right who was the browns mvp yesterday for you deshaun watson uh let's face
00:51it guys we were all wrong todd munkin's right uh he is vindicated no matter what happens the rest of
00:58the year even if it goes down the tubes the rest of the year for deshaun watson even if it
01:01goes down
01:02the tubes the rest of the year for the browns todd munkin made one of the most unpopular choices
01:08i've ever seen in football not a single person agreed with him except for maybe mary kay
01:14locally nationally nobody thought it was the right move to start deshaun watson i know i certainly didn't
01:20think it was the right move and right now it looks like he's been completely vindicated all coming
01:26together with what was an excellent performance by watson there's a lot of guys deserve credit but
01:31but seriously guys what when is the what is the last time and it hasn't happened often when when
01:38a browns game ends they win and you're like this was all about the offense it had almost nothing to
01:43do with the defense that's rare and he's the quarterback yeah it's rare and it really hasn't
01:48happened this year oddly enough and we've kind of been waiting we've been waiting for that to happen
01:52adam and we've been waiting for them to have the almost 500 yards of offense maybe maybe score more
01:56than 27 maybe get in the 30s but we've been waiting for an offensive breakout so which what do what
02:01do
02:01you think is real out of that do you feel like what we saw yesterday uh can translate or was
02:05it just
02:05against a just a bad titans team and we just got to take that for what that is as well
02:10no i mean listen for the deshaun watson part of it yeah we got to see it again against better
02:16opponents but the truth is the tight as bad as the titans are it's their offense that is like
02:23criminally bad whereas their defense is just normal bad or below average it's not like the browns
02:29scored more points against the titans than any other team they've played this year so i'm not
02:34taking away from what the offense did but do i have to see watson do it more absolutely i think
02:40we've
02:41seen quinshawn judkins look good in the past but he looked obviously his best that we've seen this
02:46year and i've been waiting for this casey concepcion breakout and obviously he had it if he hadn't
02:52dropped that one pass man he might have 200 yards in the touchdown so it's exciting to see guys i
02:57mean
02:58we've been covering the browns for a long time jonathan you've been here 10 years i've been here 15
03:02years nick you know i know you grew up in the sticks and not in a real city but you
03:06know you've been
03:07watching following the browns your whole life we have never seen this much young talent in terms of
03:13pass catchers ever on the browns certainly not in the last 20 years 30 years i can see now why
03:19sometimes your timeline on twitter is shambles when you uh when you go ahead and insult us hill people
03:27i was waiting for your uh response to that yeah you were it was a little delayed everything right
03:32now seems to be a little delayed um all right so why are the browns five and two
03:40well all right you know what i'm gonna i'm gonna give todd monk in the credit and uh i i
03:45think he's
03:46the number one reason why and certainly andrew berry deserves credit and i killed him for years
03:50deservedly so but he's turned it around but i mean i i think todd i can't you know you could
03:56say the
03:56defense but the defense didn't play great yesterday i thought they played poorly overall uh the
04:02offense has obviously been inconsistent uh there's some individual players obviously that have been
04:07sensational but i think todd monk in changing the culture of this franchise of this locker room they
04:15believe they believe in the sean watson they both believe in each other and they believe in the coach
04:20and that's you know half the battle i mean there's been more one score games in the nfl this year
04:29than there have been through seven weeks ever in the history of the nfl and so more more than ever
04:36teams are even it's close and you got to find a way to pull it out and the browns have
04:42done that
04:43you know obviously since week one five out of the last six times yeah that says a lot about the
04:48coach
04:48okay i saw adam shine had this tweet out here uh from his people the browns five and two record
04:53is
04:53tied for best record by any team that trailed slash was tied in the final five minutes of regulation in
04:57each game over a seven game span in nfl history and that's insane and so like i always think about
05:03like bill barnwell when he's when he's talking about a team in the in you know in july about
05:07whether or not they can be good the upcoming year he always goes towards one score games and he goes
05:11to point differential and he references uh you know how if you're winning these one score games
05:17there's no correlation between that being a good team it's in fact more of a more of a coin flip
05:23whether or not you win these and so with the browns winning so many one score games
05:26how much of that do you think is sustainable versus you're just getting the coin flip to go
05:31your right way i i think you know obviously there's some truth to that that there's been
05:37some level of luck involved here right but yesterday was different obviously because the
05:43offense it wasn't that or the defense kept a minute the whole game and then watson pulled it out at
05:48the
05:48end this was a completely opposite i mean he still pulled it out at the end but that's only because
05:52the defense didn't play well so yeah i get what he's saying but like i said the truth is there's
05:57been a ton of close games this year in the nfl so how good are the browns and how sustainable
06:03is it
06:05it's tough to tell like i guess it depends on how well the sean watson plays the rest of the
06:09way
06:09but the truth is if we look league wide you know you guys know i'm a bengals fan like i
06:16watched i
06:16watched the first half of the bengals game i watched it back after the browns game and i was
06:20like they're horrible the first half they look like the worst team in football and then the second
06:25half they look great this is look at the chiefs the chiefs looked impossible to stop for five weeks
06:32yesterday they were terrible so we're seeing a lot of like who looks so great the niners looked
06:38unbeatable they lost to the falcons which conversation is more premature talking about the browns winning
06:43the afc north or the deshaun extension conversation oh it's definitely uh the deshaun extension that
06:51that's that's crazy to be talking about a deshaun extension uh because he's only played one excellent
07:00game he's had excellent moments in most of the others but he's only played one excellent game i i
07:05wouldn't even can i wouldn't even consider resigning him until after the season and and and and even
07:12then he's going to have to play like he did yesterday consistently if that happens i would
07:18be open to the conversation if i were the browns but listen we've seen other quarterbacks have one
07:24good year and then not sustain it there's no way i'm getting involved in a long-term deal with deshaun
07:29and i saw darryl tweet earlier that like somebody's going to pay him 50 million dollars i love you darryl
07:34you're my guy but uh you're out of your mind if you think somebody's going to pay him 50 million
07:38dollars but that's crazy so the playoff talk is is not unreasonable at all because they're five and
07:44two but uh an extension to me is at this juncture is is insane all right so that is interesting
07:50like
07:51in a a real world setting it did who's who's bidding for deshaun services like how good does he
07:57how good does he have to play in order for us to change that convo because there's a lot of
08:01baggage
08:01that you're taking on and there's also a lot of injury risk that you're taking on and i i just
08:05feel
08:05like we'd be in a bidding war against ourselves if it really came down to it if the only thing
08:10i
08:10would let's let's say yesterday is the norm the rest of the season in that case i'd be willing to
08:17sign him to a one-year extension i still draft a guy and you know maybe deshaun's my quarterback for
08:23one more year we'll see i don't know but he's gonna have to play like he did yesterday or better
08:28almost every game the rest of the season for me uh the browns are gonna do whatever they want to
08:33do
08:33man you know but for me he'd have to play great football the rest of the season for me to
08:39even
08:39consider it bull tonight is game three of the world series brewers up to oh i think the series is
08:46over
08:47do you think the rays get back in this at all i mean i picked the rays in seven which
08:52was probably
08:52stupid at this point uh but but i'm not giving up on the rays i do i don't think it's
08:59over no i think
09:00the rays are a good team we saw their resiliency against the the guardians remember they were down
09:05to one of the guardians and i know the brewers are better than the guardians i get it i think
09:10that
09:11game two loss i just think that was the game the rays needed to have and and the brewers just
09:16took it
09:17you're probably right nick but i think this team is good enough that i'm not going to count them out
09:23down oh two uh especially because they got the next three at home so if they can win you two
09:29out
09:29of three at home even if they're down three two i still give them a chance and but the brewers
09:34i what
09:35what are the brewers i believe are what nine and one in the playoffs now i mean that's remarkable
09:41so do you think it was presumptuous that the brewers sent five planes to tampa apparently bringing on
09:48every anyone around the organization and maybe even their household pets
09:55uh yeah i guess it was a little presumptuous but but i would have done it i mean i i
09:59i get it
10:00i don't i'm not someone who believes in jinxes and if you say you think you're going to win or
10:05you plan a party that that's bad luck or something like that i don't buy into that stuff so
10:10yeah i mean good for the brewers i mean even as a cubs fan i don't know how you feel
10:14jonathan but
10:14like ah the brewers are a great franchise i i never hated the brewers though it was never it
10:20was growing up it was the astros that were always a big deal in the 90s at the time and
10:24the brewers
10:24had one moment we remember um or brant brown and the the play that went over his head ron santa
10:29losing his mind yeah it's like the only memorable brewers thing for myself as a kid i the teams that
10:34i hate are the yankees the red socks the mets and the cardinals those are the four teams i hate
10:40and so i i think this is i think these are two really good teams i hope the rays come
10:45back only
10:45because i want to see a seven game series but uh the brewers have been remarkable kudos to them the
10:51way they've played there they got a great manager and a great organization i mean i still think that
10:56the guardians are out yeah yeah we i've had now like three different debates about what do you do
11:01with tanner bybee and my answer is i think you bring him back i don't think he sat low on
11:06a pitcher
11:06like that even if he is a bit of a pain in the ass i 100 agree i am not
11:11i'm not getting rid of
11:13tanner bybee just talent there he had a bad year and it's the season the way it ended maybe his
11:17confidence is shook or maybe he's a little mad at the organization i don't know to me you have no
11:21right to be mad at the organization you put yourself in this spot go out there next year and kick
11:25some
11:25you know what i mean i'm not giving him away no way the guardians can't afford to give away
11:31talented pitchers i don't think that would be a good idea at all and i wouldn't surprise me if he
11:36bounced back and pitched well next year and if they go to the playoffs again he'll have another
11:40opportunity i i definitely would not trade him this offseason not at all and for the love of god
11:45just keep to keep the hair short that that long hair stuff really look like captain hook but blonde
11:50adam great stuff buddy appreciate you later guys talk to you later we'll talk to adam again next
