00:00The biggest weather problem for Halloween is a flood threat in Texas.
00:03Drenching thunderstorms will spread across much of the state from Thursday through Friday night.
00:06The heaviest rain is expected around Abilene south toward Del Rio,
00:10where we're forecasting 2 to 4 inches with some localized totals even up to a foot of rain.
00:14Parts of West Texas are in severe or extreme drought, but dry soil can become hard and less able to
00:20absorb water.
00:21So those heavy downpours can run off quickly and cause flash flooding.
00:24Now the storm moves through pretty quickly, so by Halloween itself,
00:26Saturday, South Texas up towards Austin into Mississippi have the thunderstorm risk.
00:31Check back for the latest as we get closer to the holiday weekend
00:34and share this with someone who needs the heads up.
