00:02Hello Northern Australia, it is Sunday the 1st of November. This is your weather update for the
00:06week ahead. Moving forward we're going to be looking at three regions per week and Northern
00:10Australia will always be in this sort of Bundaberg upwards and covering those sort of central towns
00:15of Cairns, Darwin, Catherine, Broome, those sorts of areas and then we'll go all the way down to
00:20Canavan. Okay, jumping into the rain totals this week we can see a lot of rain centred around the
00:25Northern Darwin and Catherine regions up to potentially 75 mils around those areas as well
00:32as some heatwave warnings being issued especially in Northern WA. So there's a bit of heat on the way
00:38but it's always hot this time of year but there's also a bit of rain and thunderstorm activity there.
00:42Let's start with the day-by-day breakdown and what's driving this rain. So we have this arch trough shape
00:48so this low pressure trough that's extending across the Northern regions. As the week progresses some
00:53of that trough breaks out into like central pieces of low pressure that's driving a little bit of
00:58stronger storm activity on those days but for the most part you're going to see this arch shape every
01:03single day okay. So starting here on Monday anywhere between 1 and 25 mils is possible in these very
01:09very northern coastal areas but most of WA is dry and a lot of central Queensland is as well and
01:14the
01:14northern end of Queensland. Moving through to Tuesday again that same shape. Wednesday, Thursday. Now
01:21Thursday you can start to see these little blobs and much stronger rain associated with them so 5
01:26to 10 mils. This is where I'm starting to see from the models some quite severe thunderstorm warnings
01:31being issued so that's something to note and it also spreads out a little bit more so you like see
01:36a higher chance of rainfall there. We also have this low pressure centre here in WA which is driving just
01:41a little bit of storming activity up here. I should say rain activity not storms I haven't seen this
01:46associated with storms really in the models. All right moving through on Friday again a high storm
01:51risk across this northern territory region and for Saturday it extends across much larger areas
01:58and then Sunday as well. Sunday you can see we have another low pressure region here this is extending
02:04a new low pressure trough up into the north of WA and that's where a lot of the severe rainfall
02:09is
02:09being experienced on that Sunday but that could shift slightly either way seeing how the models progress
02:14and that weather system itself. So storms are on the way a bit of rainfall not super severe rainfall
02:20everyone out there will be used to it but yeah that's what we're seeing concentrated definitely
02:24in the northern territory region whereas a lot of this more sort of central WA and Queensland northern
02:29coastal pockets are relatively dry this week. Talking about winds though Thursday I'm seeing the
02:35strongest wind gusts so far on the forecast especially in the central regions 40 to 63 kilometer hour gusts
02:41and just remembering where there's sort of localized thunderstorms that we can get some severe wind
02:46with those as well. All right that is it for the northern Australian regions this week as we can see
02:52concentrated a lot in the northern part of the northern territory and relatively dry elsewhere. This
02:57little pocket down here we will cover in the southeastern video so if you're down in the more
03:03southeastern parts of Queensland you'll want to jump across to that one okay stay safe have a great week
03:07and we'll see you next time bye
03:09you
