00:00Hello there, good afternoon. Two storms in two days. Storm Austin continues to bring
00:06a wet and windy spell this afternoon, soon followed by Storm Bulow, which will move through
00:11on Saturday. Still multiple Met Office warnings in force for this afternoon, both for wind
00:16across southern areas of England and Wales, and also for heavy and persistent rain across
00:21southern and eastern areas of England. So for most, it is going to continue to stay
00:26wet and windy through this afternoon. Some quite heavy spells of rain at times. It will
00:31eventually start to clear the west, but still a few showers feeding into Northern Ireland,
00:36southern areas of Wales and parts of Devon and Cornwall. And even if the rain does start to
00:41ease away, it will continue to still be rather windy, even if you're not in warning areas
00:46as well. Storm Austin through the course of the day will gradually push its way south eastwards,
00:52but notice around many coastal areas and high ground areas of England and Wales, there could
00:57still be some strong gusty with us and remaining with us through the afternoon.
01:02Now later into the evening, the storm will eventually push away. There will still be some
01:06heavy outbreaks of rain at times, but these will gradually ease eastwards through the course
01:11of the night, particularly across southern and eastern areas of Scotland. And actually
01:15a slight ridge of high pressure does mean things will be turning fairly dry, a few clearer spells,
01:20and actually things will start to turn rather chilly by the time we reach Saturday morning for many
01:25areas. Temperatures pushing down into the low single figures across towns and cities of Scotland,
01:30northern areas of England. And if we see prolonged clear spells, there could even be some frost in
01:34places as winds lighten away. Notice though the unsettled spell is not too far away, just about edging
01:40into areas of Northern Ireland by the time we reach the early hours of the morning. It's starting to
01:45cloud over across Wales, Devon and Cornwall once again with some showers.
01:50Now through the course of Saturday, gradually turning more and more unsettled as we see
01:55Storm Bulow move through, this time towards the northwest, but it will continue to bring
02:00a wet and windy spell which will gradually move its way eastwards through the course of Saturday.
02:05Once again, some very heavy outbreaks of rain, particularly across Scotland, northern parts
02:09of England, any high ground across Wales as well. It brings in some slightly milder air,
02:14so temperatures will climb up a little bit by a few degrees. But for most, it is going to be
02:19a very
02:19unpleasant start to the weekend with strong winds and heavy rain. Once again, we do have further
02:25Met Office warnings issued. Take a look at our website to see if those are going to affect you.
02:29Now, one of the main impacts is going to be from winds as Storm Bulow pushes into the northwest.
02:34Once again, it's really Northern Ireland, Scotland, northern areas of England this time
02:38that will catch the highest gusts, potentially pushing into 60 to 70 miles per hour, maybe even
02:4580 miles per hour across some areas of Scotland. And this will continue to do so later Saturday and
02:51through into the early hours of Sunday. So this storm will really linger and the strongest winds
02:56will be through Saturday and also through into Sunday morning. Now, due to the high likelihood of
03:02significant impacts across Scotland, we have now issued an amber warning for these areas. And this is where
03:07wind speeds could potentially reach up to 80 miles per hour around some exposed locations.
03:12Actually, on Sunday, for many areas of the south, it will turn drier. Temperatures around 13 to 14
03:18degrees, but it'll still be fairly gusty even if we don't see some rain. And eventually, any longer
03:23spells of rain will turn to more showerier nature across Scotland, Northern Ireland, northern parts of
03:28England. But as Storm Bulow pushes towards the northeast of us, the Northern Isles and the far northeast of
03:34Scotland could still carry on to see some longer spells of rain through Sunday.
03:39So a very unsettled weekend. How about next week? Well, we still have a very active jet stream with
03:45us. So that continues to act like a bit of a conveyor belt for areas of low pressure from the
03:50Atlantic. So we'll likely continue to see a wet and windy spell for the first part of the week.
